Hey guys, do you know anything about tadpoles? i was wondering because out school is taking in tadpoles temporarily because theor natural habitat is drying up die to some high schoolers building a "dam" to be like a beaver. Anyways the water is too low for them and will get lower and lower.
i have read on somesites that say 5-10 per liter and others sayt no more than 2 per litre. I have a 12 litre tank and wanted to know a good number to house in it
also we do plan to release most of the frogs back to their habitat and keeping them before the stupid manmade dam those guys built. They do not understand how they are damaging the ecosystem.
Also we identified that most of these tadpoles are the endangered (not via wikipedia, but on the Wisconsin DNR site) Northern Cricket Frog. Thats the main reason why we want to grow them and protect them from predators and then release them.
Any and all help is appreciated. The DNR representative in out small town encouraged us to take in the tadpoles. However he knows nothing about care.
I know taking them out of their habitat will mess with the ecosystem, but if they all died instead of just going missing for a while would be worse on the envoirnment i think.

I heard that boiled lettuce frozen and cut up can be fed to tadpoles but I don't know if it's true? Anyone know if it is or not? Or should I just try it out?¿
I've had lots of experience with tadpoles, what you can do is boil lettuce for roughly ten minutes, chop it up until it's pretty much mush, then give one large pinch for every six tadpoles you have. You can store leftovers in a baggy in the fridge, then when you need some, take it out, microwave it for a few seconds, and then you can use it. Make sure it's not too hot before you feed it to them. Hope his helps! :3
“So you really are a princess.” Maverick's eyes burned both with anger and hurt. "When were you planning to tell me; before or after I got killed trying to protect you?”

Thanks! That's just what I read but I wasn't sure if it was true. You can never trust the internet sometimes! Thanks anyway!!!

I was a toxic 11-13 year old lol.

Ugh I hate this. My little brother (who is 5) won two baby comet goldfish at a carnival.
And I wasn't home so my mom just threw them in a one gallon tank I had under my bed with the water
they came in x.X I'm so mad right now. I tried to tell her that Comet Goldfish need a lot of space (space
we can't provide) but she won't listen to me! .-.
I'm going to see if my grandmother will let me put them in her pond.

hey! new to this fourm. anyone have an interest in bettas? i have three of my own. c:
edit - oops! completely forgot to add this. cx
username: void. (changes often.)
How many tanks do you have: 3
Type of fish that you have: three bettas
Your fish's names: Jupiter, Maze, and Magi.
How long have you had fish: A few months.

This is Magi, the halfmoon double tail male betta. Got him at Petco and I've had him for about a month. He is my newest betta and he is just gorgeous, Is he not? He isn't as smart as Jupiter, my other betta, but he is very smart for a fish. I got him while we were looking for supplies for my frog, Ziggy. I just loved his colors! I just had to have him. So, after a while of begging my mom, I got a new member of my little animal family.

This is Maze! He tends to be bit of a grump but he sure is cute! I think it is so funny when he flares his gills at me! He can't do much but he is a brave one. He is a elephant ear male that I got a Petco and I've had him for about three months now. He is much more frilly than my other two bettas. Very wavy. I really enjoy watching him swim and seeing the light flicker on his scales. Just gorgeous! That's something that my other two bettas can't really do. The light doesn't reflect on them as well as it does on Maze.

This is my male betta named Jupiter. He is a veil tail that I got at... Walmart... Yeah, I know that it isn't a great place to get fish but he is doing fantastic! I've had him for at least five months now and he is the smartest of all my bettas. He's my little baby! He is such a cutie, isn't he? He may not be as colorful as my other two bettas but I think he is just as beautiful! Colors aren't always what makes things beautiful and appealing to the eye.
