It was a quiet night. A fox had been spotted far off in the forest,
so Thunderstar had set up guard patrols at night. Gemfur was
standing at the edge of camp, guarding the entrance, straining
her eyes against the darkness to see if the fox was coming near.
She heard footsteps behind her. She turned around to speak to the
other cat.
"Oh, are you here to replace me? Or do you just need company?"
"Company would be fine, thanks." Gemfur nodded to the other
before sitting down. She opened her mouth once again to ask
another question, but the other cat slit Gemfur's throat before
she was able to say anything. They washed their paws carefully
before going back to sleep.

Thunderstar woke up on what she thought was a normal clan day and checked the patroling cats to see if they found anything but when she went to where gemfur was patroling she was dead thunderstar was shocked and then woke up everyone in the clan because gemfur was dead she dragged gemfur near high rock so cats could pay their respects she then said gemfur was such a good warrior.

Silverclaw woke up to Thunderstar's voice. What now, she thought. Silverclaw got up, stretched her legs, and walked in the clearing. She saw Thunderstar with Gemfur's body on Highrock. Shocked, SIlverclaw dashed up Highrock. "What in the name of StarClan is this?!" Silverclaw yelled at Thunderstar, pointing her tail at Gemfur. "Is this a joke? Who did this? Why?!" Silverclaw sobbed. She bent her head over Gemfur's body and cried. "Why...?" she whispered.

Shadefeather's ears flicked, blinking open yellow eyes. She stood up, and gave her thick black-and-gray fur a shake, before padding out of the warriors den, and jerking her head back as sunstreaks hit her eyes. She looked up, ears flicking at Silverclaw's cry. "What is--" She stopped. "What happened?" She demanded, voice barely a whisper, as she looked up at Thunderstar and Silverclaw.
