Raventhorn found himself terribly distracted on his way back to camp. He stopped in a rather infrequent manner here and there to sniff at some particularly fragrant flowers or to root around in a pile of rocks to see if he could spy one that had an interesting color or pattern to it. Indeed the cross-eyed tom spent an inordinate amount of time padding rather aimlessly through the forest with two Grey mice swinging from from his jaws by their long tails.

It was during Raventhorn's aimless walk that his pink nose twitched at a familiar scent. The warm scent of Starlingsong caused the tom to change direction and pad along trying to located the source of it. He found the young she-cat to be quite agreeable and if he could find an excuse to spend a few moments with her than one could bet all the prey in the forest that he would take that chance. His paws came to a standstill as he spied her Raven-furred frame crouched on the ground. He couldn't help but smile as she let out a very un-catlike sound. He quietly dropped the two mice on the ground and watched the she-cat continue her hunt.

In the blink of an eye she caught her prize and Ravethorn couldn't stop the purr rising in his throat. As the yellow-eyed female turned to gaze at him he could suppress a happy chirp. "Good catch! I was just passing by when your bird call caught my attention!" Okay, that was technically a lie but he didn't want to admit to having stalked her through the forest like one would stalk their prey. He nodded acknowledgment at Orchidpaw. "I hope your mentor is teaching you that trick," he said with a twitch of the whiskers.

Weaslefur wrinkled his nose in a playful manner at the muscular tom. "Last I checked it isn't leafbare and we aren't a clan of badgers," he said in a friendly manner at Bengalfur. He flicker an ear lazily towards the entrance of the camp where Martinfur was speaking with Sunstrike. "I'm sure if we don't lazy about any longer we can join the patrol," the young warrior said as he rose from his place and trotted briskly into the sun bathed camp clearing.

"Oh frog legs," he exclaimed as he arrived just in time to see the last of the patrol weave their way out of camp. His fore-claws raked agitatedly against the earthen group, he had really wanted to go on patrol today, as he usually made a habit of sleeping in. He gazed around unsure of what he should do now, his brother was long gone and now that the patrol had left the camp was more or less empty of it's inhabitants. His eyes glanced quickly to the medicine den, there seemed to be quite a lot going on there and he didn't really have a reason to speak with Blueheart so he thought better of bounding over to wish the she-cat good morning.

Hawkpaw was still in camp, his mentor nowhere in sight and for a moment Weaslefur found himself longing for an apprentice of his own. He knew though, that his time would come soon enough. With Leopardstep and Wolfsong both expecting it would only be a matter of time till he had his own Hawkpaw to train. It was then that his emerald eyes landed on Kestrelbelly. Weaslefur bounded up towards the long-haired she-cat meowing a friendly greeting. "Good morning! I hope you slept well!" He glanced towards the direction the patrol just went. "The patrol left already, so would you like to go hunting with me?" He flexed his claws, "Eight paws are better than four after all".

Name; Nightfrost
Gender; she-cat
Age; 16 moons
Rank; warrior
Apprentice; none
Crush; none

Nightfrost looked to the side for any movement within the trees. She felt a current go past her and turned her head to see Martenfur bounding ahead, her ears twitched dismissively. She was about to check the air again when he dropped back beside her. When he asked her a question she didn't bother to reply. She thought he finally might quit flirting when he continued talking about other things they could do up until he added 'together naturally' and a wink.

She would have clawed his ears off right there but she didn't think Sunstrike would approve of that so instead she let her ears flatten slightly and unsheathed her claws, digging them into the ground.
''No you can do all of that after border patrol'' she replied to him, letting only a small hint of a hiss into her voice. The noise of a starling reached her ears and her head whipped up just in time to see it fly away. Her gaze flickered towards Sparrowstorm to see him looking at it also.

Nightfrost veered away from Martenfur's side and trotted further ahead to check the borders where Sparrowstorm hadn't yet. She inhaled deeply; the markers were fresh and very strong, she didn't think she needed to mark them again. The white she cat pricked up her ears, hearing mainly birds tweeting and leaves rustling she relaxed them slightly.

Kestrelbelly heard a familiar voice just behind her and she turned to see Weaselfur, the good-natured tabby warrior, bidding her good-morning. She chuckled a bit after his comment about her sleep, for she had sleep almost too well. Like he said, they had overslept enough to miss the dawn patrol. However, this wasn't much of a let-down to Kestrelbelly anyways, for she was not what you would call a morning cat.

"Good-morning to you too, Weaselfur. And of course, I'm up for a hunt! About time I've gotten out of this stuffy camp," Kestrelbelly meowed in reply as she stretched out her forepaws to shake off any lingering stiffness from her slumber. It seemed that the Clan was more anxious than ever to get out and do stuff after the brutally cold Leaf-Bare. The thought gave the young warrior a shudder of relief to be rid of that StarClan-forsaken time.

Flexing her claws, Kestrelbelly turned backed to Weaselfur. "Alright then, where should we head off to?" she inquired, tilting her head slightly to the side. Being a fairly new warrior still, Kestrelbelly still felt a natural inclination to let others decide things for her. It was difficult for her to wrap her head around the fact that she was a warrior now, but she was beginning to grow more accustomed to her new way of life.

@mrs lough - I got Pebbleheart to bump into Firestrike in an earlier post but I didn't get a reply, so I reposted it :)

The black she-cat dropped her bird to the ground, unable to help the smile that came to her jaw at the sight of the tom. Raventhorn seemed perpetually cheerful and had a habit of collecting random things in the forest, which appealed to the adventurous side of her. She took his compliment with humility and bowed her head when Raventhorn commented on her mentoring.

"Bird calls are not for everyone, unfortunately," she replied. "But Orchidpaw's hunting skills are very much improved. Just today she caught a squirrel." Starlingsong flicked her black tail proudly at her white apprentice and the fresh-kill she had caught so stealthily earlier in the morning. The white she-cat was really turning out to be a fine apprentice and Starlingsong, despite her young age, a fair mentor. As hard as it was to teach a Clanmate who was only nine moons younger than herself, the she-cat enjoyed being almost an older sibling to Orchidpaw.

Turning back to Raventhorn, she said, "I see you've been hunting this morning too." The two grey mice the tom had before him looked very appetizing. His catch also looked much better than her one tiny chickadee. Sniffing at the air, Starlingsong caught the scent of some more prey nearby, the forest suddenly full of prey now that newleaf was beginning.

"Perhaps you would like to join us for a little more hunting?" she asked with a smile. "Come on, Orchidpaw, let's see what else we can catch!" Pivoting lightly on her paws, Starlingsong trotted back into the bushes, scenting the air and waiting for her apprentice and the gray tom to follow.

The medicine cat apprentice as his mentor gave him permission to go and he nodded to both her and Icestar on his way out. The leader had been kind enough to step out of Pebbleheart's way as he exited the den. Free of the uncomfortable and stuffy air of the medicine den, Pebbleheart trotted away, leaving Blueheart and Icestar to their discussion. The apprentice was unsure whether Blueheart had told him to look for lavender and dock on his trip because they were actually understocked or because she wanted him gone for longer. He believed it to be the second, but he couldn't be sure.

Padding to the entrance of the camp, the small grey tom passed the patrol that was gathering and continued on into the forest, eager to get away from the bustle of the camp. His sister, Starlingsong, had also taken her apprentice out hunting, so there was a chance he might bump into her which would give him the time to tell her about his dream. Just the thought of it made his fur bristle and he calmed himself by sniffing at the air.

The smell of clean water was what he could smell first and foremost, but underneath that was the sweet scent of lavender and the more sharp smell of watermint. These were close enough to the camp that Pebbleheart decided he would get them on his way back from his expedition. Comfrey, dock, horsetail and marigolds would be found in the forest closer to the base of the hills that later on grew into the mountains that were visible across the lake.

Choosing to avoid the water's edge, where he would find herbs he did not need, Pebbleheart turned in the direction of the forest. Here, the scents were different, much more musky than in the clear air. It was easy to miss certain smells and the tom felt kind of sorry for he warriors and apprentices who were forced to hunt prey - he himself did not smell a thing. Perhaps it was this that caused him to almost trip over the ginger and white body of a cat crouching in the bushes. With a startled yowl, Pebbleheart jumped away, only to see that he had almost stepped on Firestrike, a warrior of LakeClan.

"No, you can do all of that after border patrol," was Nightfrost's answer to Martenfur's sweet talk and, just like that, his tail dropped, no longer held high behind him. He watched the she-cat walk away to check the scents of the border, white body moving in an almost hypnotizing motion. Slightly put off, but still determined, Martenfur shook himself out, trying to get the feeling of rejection out of his fur.

Deciding that pursuing her when she was in such a grouchy mood would be counter-productive, the red-brown tabby padded over to Sparrowstorm instead, who was also checking the borders. So close to the camp the scents were quite fresh and the markers would not have to be renewed until further along. It was the perfect opportunity for Martenfur to relay his woes to the tabby tom.

"Aren't patrols so much more enjoyable when there are she-cat's to talk to?" he asked Sparrowstorm rhetorically. His ears swivelled towards the sound of wings and Martenfur's amber gaze followed as a starling took flight from a nearby tree. Sparrowstorm's eyes followed the bird as well and, in all honesty, Martenfur did not expect the shy tom to reply.

"What do you think?" he pressed, suddenly wondering what his childhood friend's opinion on the subject would be. Though the tabby tom seemed shy and sweet, Martenfur was almost convinced he might have feelings for someone, or at least have his eye on a she-cat within the Clan. After all, how could he not when they were such delightful creatures?

Orchidpaw looked at Raventhorn with an expression that clearly read, I just got lucky. She trotted after Starlingsong into the woods, careful not to step on any twigs that would alert prey. Just ahead, she saw a mouse nibbling something. Ah, mice are easy to catch, she thought cheerfully. She bunched up her haunches and leapt, clearing the short distance easily and landing on the mouse. She nipped the mouse cleanly, and sat up with her kill under her paw.

Foxfrost

Foxkit was always the odd one out of his litter, the one who would rather spend time quietly watching camp life than tussle with his sibling. He was more serious, more contemplative, and more quick to learn than any two other kits put together. Still, twice the seriousness of a normal kit is still not much, and he enjoyed his first several moons with carefree abandon. His sister, Silverkit, would often drag him about whilst excitedly chattering on about some trivial event or another, making for a lively few seasons of early life for Foxkit. His mother never gave the name of his father, and neither of the siblings ever asked.

When Foxkit became Foxpaw, he was already spending more time listening to the elders than any other cat his age. He would be the first to volunteer to change the elders' bedding or fetch them prey or even help them with their ticks, so much did he covet their stories. He exchanged the time he normally would have spent in solitude for their company, listening with rapt attention to stories of the Great Move so often that he could likely recite most from memory. His mentor, Skyshade, often scolded him for so frequently bothering the elders with his requests, though in reality Foxpaw was always very courteous in asking and even more so in being told 'no'.

Skyshade, an almost shy cat himself, did not quite know what to do with Foxpaw at first. However, after almost a moon of awkward guessing and short conversations, he seemed to warm to the orange tabby. Skyshade saw a bit of himself in his young apprentice with his quiet demeanor and contemplative pauses. Training really picked up about one and a half moons after Foxpaw's apprenticeship, all awkwardness in their relationship dealt a death blow by the first jokes the two traded. Skyshade was a good warrior, even if a voluntarily aloof one; he made certain to train Foxpaw to the best of his abilities.

When Foxpaw stood with Silverpaw for their warrior ceremony, a sharp contrast was readily visible. Later, he and his sister would be good-naturedly teased by their fellow warriors about it. Silverpaw was quivering with so much excitement she seemed liable to bust out of her fur next to her mentor. Foxpaw was still as stone, head held high and proud, like a mirror image in posture of the blue-furred Skyshade at his side. Thus Foxpaw became Foxfrost as Silverpaw became Silverfoot.

Foxfrost made and still makes for an average if effective warrior. Despite his quiet nature he would take border patrols as readily as he would take solo hunting trips, and he strove for efficiency in all that he did. Since he had rarely spoken much with the other apprentices and hadn't seemed very approachable to begin with, it took a while before cats realized that he didn't stay silent for lack of wanting to be friendly but rather a preference of listening over speaking. Once this realization had been made, though, he was included in more group discussions, offered more spots on patrol, and was invited to share tongues over a pair of mice more often.

Now, a strong and healthy warrior in his prime, Foxfrost finds himself thoroughly satisfied with the life he's living. Still able to find quiet moments between his warrior duties, he's content with what he's earned for himself.

Dovesong

Kits like to have fun, and Dovekit was no exception! In addition to the usually nursery games and tussles to keep her busy, she would drag her brother anywhere and everywhere at the slightest provocation. Dovesong was filled with an insatiable curiosity for absolutely everything, wanting to know details about each and ever new thing she experienced. 'Why?' quickly became the most overused word she would ever utter, employing it whenever an explanation for one of her previous questions had been given. Only rarely did she ever stop questioning things, and that was mostly to play with her brother and the younger kits, when they came a moon of age.

When the transition from Dovekit to Dovepaw came, all of that excited energy was finally put to good use. Her final moon of kithood had seen that curiosity replaced by a driving urge to do

as her passion changed courses. Now, finally, she could be something useful instead of just another mouth to feed! Her first day of training she was determined to prove that she would be the greatest Warrior the clan had ever seen. She saw a rabbit while being given her tour of the territory and pounced with all her speed, ready to show her worth! Of course, she landed on her chin and the rabbit actually somehow managed to stroll away with it's hopping gait, but it was that enthusiasm that would mark her early apprenticeship.

A little more than halfway through her apprenticeship Dovepaw began to mellow. Her overabundance of energy and steely-when-focused will had found a perfect outlet in her rigorous training, falling into her bed exhausted each night from how much she worked during the day. A new Dovepaw emerged, one that took her time off to actually rest instead of train, chat instead of scout. In time, she came to love relaxing under the sun as much as her brother did. It was this new, calmer Dovepaw that was useful when a hard leafbare came around and many, many cats got sick. The medicine cat and their apprentice, Blueheart, had their paws full trying to help the serious cases of greencough and whitecough that had appeared in several member of the clan. Dovepaw's mentor was down with whitecough, her training briefly put on hold. Determined to make herself useful, Dovepaw offered her services to the Medicine Cat with the blessing of her mentor. She spent the next half a moon caring for sick cats, bringing them water and comforting them as best she could. She still claims to have rudimentary knowledge of several herbs from those dark days of assisting the ill.

When it was time for her warrior ceremony, she practically vibrated on the spot as Icestar named her Dovesong. It was a name she could not have seen herself getting three moons prior, but that was a different cat than the one who had helped the camp fight off the sickness that had swept through it. And, as always, she was determined to live up to the expectations placed on her. Even if everyone else saw their names as being earned through their deeds, she would earn hers twice over! Of course to do that she needed do nothing but be herself, so it wouldn't be too terribly much of a challenge.

Suntstrike scented the air as soon as he left the camp. With the flick of his tail, he ordered the cats to follow him along to the western part of the border. "It would be nice if we stopped to hunt as well," he mewed, eyes flitting back and forth, "although that is not what we're here for, I'm sure Icestar won't mind if we bring some prey on our way back."

The tom stopped suddenly, turning to his patrol. He parted his jaws to take in scents and then frowned, his amber gaze sweeping over the cats that had joined him on the patrol.

"I smell fox."

Weaslefur nodded in thoughtful agreement as Kestrelbelly spoke of escaping the confineds of the camp. He too felt like he'd been stuck in it for far too long, even if it has been just yesterday afternoon that he had left. The one-eared tom couldn't help but glance to the direction the patrol had gone as Kestrelbelly asked which way they should head on their little hunting expedition. After a few seconds consideration he turned his gaze back to the she-cat and spoke; "Since Martenfur is with the patrol I'm sure they will have no trouble charming all the prey out of it's burrows." Weaslefur's eyes gleamed in jest, he and the red tom had only been born a few days apart and whereas Weaslefur grew up to be quite secretive about his own desires Martenfur was the exact opposite. He pointed his multicolored tail northwards, "I suppose we could head towards the lake, maybe we will charm out some prey of our own," he said in a friendly manner before rising to his paws and heading towards the brambles that surrounded the camp.

Raventhorn's heart seemed to skip a beat as Starlingsong smiled at him and he couldn't help but smile back in a horridly sheepish manner. "You could always teach me bird calls you know! I'm no apprentice but I love to learn!" The way the Grey tom figured it that would be the beyond perfect excuse to spend some time alone with the she-cat which wasn't something that he got the chance to do too often. Raventhorn nodded at her comment about him having spent the morning hunting, "the day's not over yet either. Plenty of more chances for prey." Of course Raventhorn gladly accepted the request to join the two she-cats and after taking a moment to bury his prey underneath a tree he trotted quickly after them and made it a fast point to position himself so he was walking nest to Starlingsong.

▶ɧıʂɬơཞყ◀:; I grew up with my sister and den mates. I was always treated like the best for my bravery. I always got to hang around the cool cats. I finally became and apprentice, thistlepaw. My mentor was Nightpool, she was awesome. She taught all kinds of fighting techniques that showed me how to use my speed. One night, I witnessed Nightpool's death. One of the rouges had killed her. I tried my best to fight him off but it was too late. I lost my hearing in my right ear dew to the rouge damaging it by clawing it. I finished my training early.... Then I became
Thistlefeather. I shall see revenge for Nightpool's death.
