I would also like help figuring out what the prophecy will be from all of you, as it will most-likely affect all of your characters! In case you didn't know it, the official prophecy cats are Sparrowstorm, Pebbleheart, and Kestrelbelly.

Ooh, I didn't actually know who the other prophecy cats were, but that's really cool

I think is thread is a good idea simply because we're not going to trash the roleplay thread with OOC posting - unless it's with our actual post, of course. It's nice to be able to talk to others and flesh out plots and relationships without disrupting the roleplay ^.^

This is one of the only roleplays I'm in that actually seems to be moving, the rest have really slowed down lately Let's hope this one doesn't die too quick!

And I really hope this role play doesn't die for a while! I certainly won't be the cause of its death, anyways, or at least I seriously hope not. We've still got a lot to role play out.

I've got a question for everybody: What in the world could the prophecy mean?

Here it is, in all its three-part glory:

Segment 1 will be sent to all cats.

Whispers in the darkness
are all they'll ever hear
A darkness deep and so profound
They'll lose themselves to fear

The rising it is coming
a heightened rolling tide
a time of blindness following
so deep and dark inside.

Leave before it is too late
to find what once was lost,
go long and far and don't return
for death would be the cost.

Segment 2 will only be sent to one cat. This one's probably going to be the hardest to plan out.

Though light is of a lesser breed
- it outward ceases to exist -
you'll find it in the broken soul
of the one you find you can't resist.

This time it's you and only you
to which this message goes
for your journey is different
than the ones you hold so close.

To end is not the end at all
so young one never fear,
the path you take will swallow you
but victory is near

Segment 3 will again be sent to all three cats.

The problem has not yet been told
Nor have you really seen it
but it reigns high within your ranks-
Therefore a sacrifice is needed.

The last leg of your journey
will be to find the glow
how very vague this message is
but when you find it...
you'll know

I seriously, seriously have no idea what to make this about; I kinda just wrote it off the top of my mind, and decided on having three cats in it for whatever reason. It has to be something that the prophecy cats have no idea about for most of the time, so a major forest fire is sort of out of the question at this point... well, unless the prophecy was about finding a new territory, and they happened to be far enough away from the forest to not realize their home had been destroyed or something like that.

Anyways, anyone have any ideas? I might also make side-events to include cats not in the prophecy, by the way, depending on what you guys come up with.

This prophecy was so well-written I thought for sure you had everything planned out already

Well, the first part makes it sound like there might be a flood. They are, after all, living by a lake, and the words "rising" and "heightened rolling tide" seem to suggest that the water level may be rising slowly over time and will, all of a sudden, swallow them up - "the time of blindness". The rest of the first segment fits loosely, but you could make it work with a flood as well. "Whispers in the darkness" would be the lapping of the waves at the shore - soft, yet dangerous at the same time. And they would definitely have to leave the territory to avoid drowning, which would work with the last verse of the first segment.

The second portion would require a cat who is in love with someone or admires another. "You'll find it in the broken soul of the one you find you can't resist" seems to imply that. For the purpose of explanations, I'm going to use the Sparrowstorm-Starlingsong-Raventhorn love triangle. Let's say Starlingsong was torn between the two, making her soul "broken"; she would also be the one Sparrowstorm cannot resist. She could be his downfall, which he views as "his end". His pursuit of her swallows him, or perhaps he decides to run away with the hope the water will swallow him so he can forget about her. But, in doing so, he will find some secret tunnel underneath the lake that will lead the Clan to safety or something. This could also apply to Kestrelbelly or Pebbleheart, provided they found love interests (or fell for each other, which would make a LOT of sense, I think).

A sacrifice is needed - that part is pretty self explanatory. I feel like it would make the most sense if one of the high ranks provided this sacrifice, either Icestar, Blueheart or even Pebbleheart, since he is part of the prophecy. It depends on how we interpret "high within your ranks" really. It could mean the ranks of the Clan, the age ranking of the cats involved in the prophecy or the hierarchy within the prophecy cats. "The glow", if we decided to go with the tunnel under the lake scenario, would be the light at the end of the tunnel, which would lead the Clan to safety.

In all honesty, I have no idea what it could mean either, but those are just some ideas I thought I'd throw out there Sorry if it seems like I'm pushing my own characters in everyone's faces, it's just the first thing that came to my mind but, like I said, it could work pretty well with other characters as well. I like the Kestrelbelly and Pebbleheart romance though, they're both 19 moons and they'd just be the cutest little fluff couple with lots of room for developing into a more mature relationship, especially if it requires a sacrifice from one of them in the end.

Long ago, the forest was ruled by one single, large group of cats.
These cats were mighty and fearless, banded together and thriving in
what they knew was a perfect life. Everyone cared for everyone else
and because of that they were the most powerful animals of the forest.
These cats were called LeafClan.
And they had no idea what was in store for them.
One greenleaf was the driest greenleaf that had ever happened in the
memory of any cat. After newleaf, there was hardly any rain for moons.
Eventually, the stream dried up. Most of the prey had left in search of water,
leaving the clan with no choice but to spread out farther and farther
in search of the same thing. Every day the cats moved out in different
directions, pretty much everyone in the clan ordered to conduct their own
search for sustenance. LeafClan thought that it could only get better.
They were wrong.
They had stopped doing the key thing that made them what they were as
warriors: caring for each other. Now, it was pretty much every cat for
himself, the lifestyle of simple rogues. StarClan grew angry with this;
the clan was supposed to become tighter in times like these!
Every cat in LeafClan was blatantly ignoring their duties to each
other and their lifestyle. The fire took those duties away.
The bone-dry forest lit up in a terribly spectacular wildfire that raged
across LeafClan's territory and completely cut every cat off from the
rest of the clan. The fire left the forest beyond recognition.
Everyone was so far apart that all efforts to regroup fell flat,
and through the generations, they have come to a complete stop.
What they didn't know was that their inability to find each other was
a curse from StarClan; they had all acted like rogues
and so they would fall to become rogues.
LeafClan was no more.
The descendants of LeafClan now live with only half an idea of what
a clan is and most don't think the lifestyle is acceptable. However,
the magnetism of their LeafClan blood has brought them all closer
and closer to each other over the generations. Now, they are
close enough to meet each other and know each other, and StarClan
wants the curse to end because of it... but StarClan is afraid that so
many cats have lost their faith to StarClan and knowledge of warrior
life that not even they can rekindle LeafClan. However, they
will try, and the first of their signs have begun...

Thank you!^^ <3 I'm terrible at all poetry except for prophecies. I have no idea why, but prophecies come easily to me. I actually think I started this off with an idea of what it would be about, but I forgot it as I continued to write.

Wow... it's so interesting to read someone else's perspective on it! Everything you said makes pretty great sense, and it all lines up with the prophecy. My original thoughts on the second segment was that a cat would die. "the end is not the end at all" could mean that there's still StarClan, and never fear could mean to let death happen. "The path you take will swallow you" could suggest that the cat would literally be swallowed, possibly in water, and die that way; 'victory is near' could mean that by giving up its life, the cat would lead the clan to safety. The cat wouldn't be able to interpret it until the whole swallowing event actually happened, and the sacrifice in the last verse would be the death of a warrior for the lives of many others...

But I like your version much, much better than that, Spirited; I'm actually glad you could think of a way that didn't include death, and yours makes a lot more sense than mine. I love both of the ideas for the second verse; the love triangle between Starling, Sparrow, and Raven (it really is weird that they're all named after birds xD) and the relationship between Pebbleheart and Kestelbelly. I like all of your ideas for this, actually.

The downside to my interpretation is that it involves a limited number of cats and makes it into more of a sappy love story than a prophecy that is to involve the whole Clan. If you wanted to involve everyone, so they don't feel left out, everyone could have a part to play? The major roles would still go to Sparrowstorm, Pebbleheart and Kestrelbelly, but others would have minor roles. They could be revealed through omens sent to the prophecy cats or maybe just appear in symbolic ways? I just don't want others to feel left out. It would also take some pressure off of the prophecy cats.

I feel like if I were to take a shot at the meaning of the prophecy that I would fail miserably so I say props to Spirit because she did a wonderful job explaining everything. Seriously though, bird love-triangle. Just awesome.
