Matches trotted around camp, his ears pricked for danger. He nodded to Shutterby as he passed, taking note of her pretty wings. He broke into a canter when her heard the shriek of a foal, and almost ran into Twisted. "You scared me!" Twisted giggled. "Yeah, well I thought you were dying." He said, his voice edged with annoyance. "Go back to your mother." he said tartly, but then wished his words could be swallowed back up. The little foal glared at him and trotted off. Matches sighed, regretting what he said sorrowfully. The little foal didn't have a mother. Flames erupted in a nearby dead bush. It grew to another bush, and then another. Matches lept into the air, then diving into the flames, willing them to stop. The soon stopped, and all was left was a few black burned bushes. A few of his feathers were singed, but it came with being able to control fire.

Flutterby trotted around and then took to the sky. She smiled at the small foal, Twisted, but sighed. She felt bad for the baby, but knew that it would happen sometimes. She wished for her own foal, and smiled when she saw Matches. She landed beside him, and tried to strike up a conversation. He could be the one... or she could just use him like the rest of the boys. Whatever. "Hello, Matches. How're you?"

Matches jumped, turning around. "Oh, hello Shutterby!" he said happily. His tail flicked. His eyes shone as he flapped his wings to get rid of any loose feathers, then tucked them onto his back. "Singed, but fine." He laughed. "If I keep this up, I'll have black wings!"

[[ Oh... oh oh oh... what if Matches fell in love with Ranti, and it's Shutterby's job to bring him baclk? ]]

Flutterby laughed. "Not your lovely wings. That wouldn't be very good." she said. She smiled widely and stood beside him. "So what's new?" she asked.

"Nothing much." He said, trotting on. "I've got something the leader sent me to do, so I'll be back in a bit. Talk then?" he said.

Flutterby nodded. "Certainly. See you later then." she said. She jumped up and flew off, still watching him from the sky.

Matches leapt into the air, flying towards the Demons part of the island. He soon cave to a large rock with a huge cave. He dove in, landing neatly. "Ranti?" he called. "Hello, my Matches." came a kind voice from the back. Ranti came up slowly. She was a beautiful horse, with pearly white demon wings, a black coat, and pretty heart and swirl markings. Her eyes were a pretty blue, and she had a sweet voice. As leader, she had lots of powers, inherited from the leader before her. Matches neglected to remember this. Ranti was plump as if she were pregnant, and she came and nuzzled Matches. "How are you?" she asked. Matches nuzzled her back happily without answering. Ranti used her powers to have her heat scent around him, to keep him near. "Could you find me something to eat, maybe, a rabbit?" she asked. "Sure, my love." and he left. As soon as he left, Ranti's wings became blood ripped and red, the bones showing pure white through them. Her mouth was sewn shut, and her eyes closed with stitches. The hearts on her belt broke, and her markings became evil and malicious. Her screechy voice crackled in the air. "Gain their trust..." she said to herself. "And you'll be leader."

Flutterby decided that the most interesting thing would be to follow him. So she too to the air, hovering a few meters about him at all times. When he landed with a demon, she was at first repulsted, but then she thought of her past lovers, some being demons, and just sat contently in a tree, watching them. She stood up when she changed, startled because of how... not pretty she became. It was hard to believe that this was a high standard demon mare. No wonder the demon boys were so thrilled when they got a date with an angel...

Matches dropped some food in her cave, and she had changed back just in time. He told her he had to go, and took off into the air, flying away.
