That's not true. But Peachtail didn't say it out loud. Instead, she only sighed, nodded, and exited the den. She picked up the bird before she left and signaled with her tail for Steelpelt to follow.

Mosspaw fetched her leaves and dumped those into the new nests as well.

Steelpelt sighed and followed.

Jackdawstar and his patrol jumped up the twoleg steps.

Peachtail mumbled her thanks to Mosspaw and Foxpaw before settling into her new nest. She dropped the bird on the ground but didn't eat it.

Leafsong padded up to Peachtail and dipped her head. "Hello, Peachtail. My name is Leafsong. I can see you're worried. Why?"

Foxpaw dipped her had and padded off.

Steelpelt sat in his nest uneasily.

"Hi, Leafsong." Peachtail yawned. "I'm okay. Just tired."

"I know that's not true," pressed the she cat gently,"You're worried about Meadowbreeze... And let me guess... Angry at Jackdawstar?"
