once on the other side it would be a shock for any cat. they were standing on a ledge overlooking a huge waterfall. the falls itself glowed brightly in every color of the rainbow, the water making the colors seem to dance with a life of their own. on top of all that, the water in the lake far below was crystal clear, showing the bottom of the deep lake. the lake bed was made up of colored stones of all shades and hues. easily seen in the water were fish, dark shadows darting around on the rainbow background.
fireflies filled the air between the ledge where the two cats sat and the lake below, their blinking behinds dancing on the wind. they made intricate patterns in the air as Fleetfeather watched what was going on.
"this is my own kind of special place." Fleetfeather said quietly as he turned back to look at Mapleclaw to see her reaction.

Fleetfeather watched her closely as she purred at the firefly, thinking hard about what she said. was it true that he should become her mate? was that what the feeling he had was? he was unsure, never having had a mate before and not sure what to do with a mate, let alone whether he had the confidence to have one.
"is that what you want?" he asked her, his voice shaking slightly.

Mapleclaw watched as the firefly flew away, and she looked over at Fleetfeather.
"I love you, Fleetfeather- But it's your choice," She meowed, sitting down and curling her tail over her paws with another yawn.
The sun was at its brink, and it was disappearing, and she gave another huge yawn, and flicked her ears.
What if he doesn't feel the same?... She thought for a minute, but shook away those thoughts.
