This is the thread for anything and everything Chinese Crested! You can post why you love 'em, why you hate 'em, or any other comments about the breed. If you have one, you can post pictures if you want.About the BreedChinese Cresteds are loving, energetic, and playful dogs that are great family pets. They do not shed much, rarely have issues with fleas, or have the "doggy" smell. Chinese Cresteds are usually quiet dogs, although some can be slightly yappy. Every Chinese crested has a recessive gene for a long, double coat, which is the powderpuff. They are small, ranging anywhere from 8-12lbs, although some may be slightly larger or smaller. Chinese Cresteds have low excersize requirements and come in any color or pattern. They do require some grooming. The hairless needs and occasional bath and lotioning, plus combing. They also need their teeth brushed every day, as they can have some dental issues. Some are allergic to wool or lanolin, so avoid using these products on your dog, or he/she may get a rash. The powderpuff needs a daily brushing and the occasional bath.
The Hairless
The Powderpuff
The True HairlessOver time, breeders have altered the original hairless Crested to have longer and thicker hair, so most "hairless" dogs have a fine "down" similar to the hair on the human arm all over their body. The true hairless is most like their ancestors, with hair covering only 25% or less of their body.
My Chinese Crested is named Lotus, and here is her picture page:

I just got a chinese crested puppy about 2 months ago. I have always adored the breed and decided to get one as a little companion for my chihuahua. They get along so well to together. Daisy is 8 months now and is a very fast learner. I'm so glad someone on here has a chinese crested! So many people don't even know about the breed, everytime I go out people always stop and ask what kind of dog Daisy is. I'll try and post some pictures of her

Paparazzi-
Me too! How often do you encounter well bred ones?
Bluecookie-
My Crestie pup is six months old, and she knows just about every trick I can teach her! I had been wanting a puppy, and I remembered the Chinese Crested, and I never changed my mind! I had to wait over 9 monthes to get her! And you are right, a lot of people don't know about the breed, because when I take Lotus out to town, I always hear things like, "OMG, what is that!?! Is that a dog? What happened to her? Is she sick?" I can't wait for those pictures! =D

Here's Daisy and Cookie my chihuahua. sorry the picture is kinda big ..
I saw pictures of lotus, she is sooo cute!
My dog scratches a lot to and it makes her skin very raw, I tried covering her with a sweater. I'll try the sock tactic it seems like a much better idea.
