The mare snorted and whinnied shaking her growing mane left and right glancing back at her foal rather happy to see that she seemed to enjoy running even though she was shaky it gave Onyx hope for a running partner. Lifting her tail she was ready to speed up yet again till she heard the thud of weight hitting earth. Her head turned hard to look at Estella as she tumbled over, the mother threw her legs ahead of her to quickly slow her run. Was she alright?? Onyx gave a whiny of worry until Estella quickly bounced back like all foals did quickly regaining speed bucking and snorting.

It made Onyx proud. Throwing her head she neighed to Estella a good job, proud of you neigh making her way to her a and hoofing around her rubbing her head against her buddy, chuffing with a love only a mother would know.

She had started to graze as her hopes faded. She had slowly wandered some distance from her mother when she heard a reply. She looked up curiously. She didn't see any other horses at first until she spotted a horse running sending up some dust. It was a stallion. She gave a soft nicker of greeting and she swatted her tail a little. A little of her scent caught in the breeze and she took a step back. She had no real experience with stallions and it was her first year to go into heat. However, she would only go if snaked, she would be a bit feisty.

Gracefully, Defying Gravity moved across the grass in fluid movements, his body shining in the sun. His muscles flexed with ease. The horse started to pick up the pace, moving towards where the sound had been. There is was again! Shrill but quiet, it cut through the silence. The stallion paused, one hoof raised off of the ground as the whinny rang in his ears. Whomever it was, they were close. Snorting and tossing his head a little, Defying Gravity brought his hoof back down to the floor, and stamped - a little impatiently. He scanned the area, and spotted a figure a distance away. Curious, Defying Gravity stretched his neck out, peering meekly and innocently at the figure. For a while, he kept this postition. Then, almost rushing, he threw his head back, and the bay horse whickered - trotting towards the figure. And when he was within 50 metres, he could tell she was a mare. And a pretty one at that! A cream coloured mare, small and delicate looking. But beautiful all the same. She captivated the stallion. Defying Gravity slowed to a stop. He'd never gotten this close to a mare before, and he wasn't sure what to do next. Awkwardly, the stallion shifted his weight from one hoof to the other, thinking over all the possibilities. Boldly, he walked forward. Once he was a couple of metres away, Defying Gravity extended his muzzle out and blew air out of his nostrils in a friendly manner, showing that he meant no harm.

The mare raced across the ground surrounding the watering hole - a bronze bullet flying across a murky landscape. Her tail flew behind her, a banner in the breeze. All Wings could hear was her hoof beats, like a thousand war drums, and the wind whispering her name. Bliss. Utter bliss. The plucky mare didn't slow the pace until she was on the borderline of the forest. Only then did she descend through her paces; from a speedy gallop, to a flowing canter, to a bouncing trot. Eventually, she stopped. Snorting, Wings checked the area. She could see the watering hole, and a few horses around it. Hopefully no stallions. Calming her heartbeat, the mare lowered her head to graze. For half an hour, the liver chestnut horse grazed, until she knew it was time to hide. Almost hesitantly, Wings moved closer to the treeline. It would be hard for a horse to see her, as she merged in with the trees. Looking back once, the mare walked into the trees a little nervously.

The young mare watched the stallion approach and she wondered what his intent was. She gave a friendly nicker greeting and tossed her mane in the gentle breeze. She walked a few steps closer to the stallion to see his reaction. She looked him up and down, silently judging him. She couldn't ell notice his muscles and shiny bay coat, he looked not much older than her though. He intrigued her and she wanted him to maybe stay around. She had never been around a stallion really, never even really knew her father, of course she had seen band stallions and stallions with herds and even other colts and yearlings but this was different from all that. She swatted her tail as she looked at the stallion again carefully, almost as if she were afraid he would disappear.

The mare had finally noticed her daughter was gone. She trotted around the open lands for a while. That's when she spotted a mare and a bay stallion about a half mile away. The mare was a creamish white and looked very similar to her daughter. She decided not to go get her but to leave her, let her go finally and let her daughter live her life while she found herself a herd and maybe she'd have another foal. Windy had been her first and she liked foals and was fond of them. She started to trot until she was over by the edge of the forest. It seemed nicer with light pouring through the branches, but still unsafe. She gave a nervous nicker then a whinny. Maybe a herd wouldn't be such a bad idea.

two large, pointed ears stood alert- twitching with interest and dark satisfaction as he caught the sight of a mare that interested him. she was beautiful, a sleek, white flea-bitten mare. but the scent of other stallions hung in the air, implying that more bachelors where in the area. haunt let out a violent snort, starting forward. he was willing to fight, snake, whatever it took to take this mare. she would be his. his first trophy. his first prize. the scent of mares was thick in the air, filling his dark nostrils, driving him into a canter. he was greedy. egotistical. rash. he wanted to collect as many mares as he could- it was a pride thing. it didn't take long for the dusted roan stud to start forward on four confident, long legs, a low nicker dripped off his vibrating lips, calling to the mare in a softer tone, though his attempt at sounding kind was poor at best. haunt was not kind. could not be kind. had never been kind and would never be kind, though he was a good stallion. a strong one. a loyal one- just harsh. possessive. demanding. his movements were confident, his strides long. he did not hesitate, not for a moment. four stained gray hooves strutted over the land, haunts' head held high, ears alert. haunt did not stop moving until he was able to press his muzzle against the mares' flank, nostrils flaring as he took in her scent.

it was instant, her reaction. the marred tobiano mare turned on four sharp gray hooves, cantering away from the stallion with her ears pinned. leaving her filly behind without a second a thought. if the stupid young mare wanted to get stuck with one of those cruel, abusive beasts than so be it. if that stud wanted her, he would have to go after her. ghost would not be stuck in another herd without a fight. would not be stuck with another cold-hearted stallion without a fight. she'd have to broken, once again. she had been alone for too long now. had been without the fear of her past herds for too long now. ghosts' heavily scent tail brushed against her hocks as she moved, any stallion nearby would be able to find her, but she couldn't stop the scent.

roulette stretched her muzzle forward as the bay stallion reached out to her, pressing her soft maw against his with a soft, welcoming nicker. the pretty dark palomino mare took in his scent, familiarizing herself with it. if the filly knew anything about stallions, which she did, she knew that she would be with this bay stud for at least a period of time now that he had found her. roulette twitched an ear, listening to the receding steps of her mother. she was almost surprised- surely the older mare knew that herds were safe? but then again, maybe they weren't. roulette knew nothing about her mother, aside from the fact that she was her mother. maybe something had happened.

He looks over as Ghost runs off, a light whinny escaping his muzzle to try and call her back, but it seems ineffective. The stallion snorts and turns back to Roulette, her palomino coloring was one of his favorites amongst mares which was a bit surprising since most stallions seem to like the darker mares. Titan perks his ears at her nicker and nickers back, a rich rumble of a sound, this young mare was now his and he refuses to let her be stolen by some other bachelor.

She neighs back to her mother and nips at the mare's ear playfully before dancing away and then running off with a buck. The foal was hyperactive after her long nap and had tons of pent up energy ready to be released, which can be both good and bad. Ella squeals and slides to a stop before starting to crow hop and buck around like a crazy bronco at a rodeo. She kicks out and slips on the wet grass, sending her tumbling down yet again, but like before she was back up and kicking in a split second. The filly tosses her head and takes off again, her little legs going a mile a minute, but she quickly comes to a sliding stop with her butt almost on the ground as she nearly runs into a stallion (Vagabond). The presence of the large horse makes the foal squeak and dart back to her mother for protection.

The mature mare snorts and wades into the water a bit, dropping her head to get her fill of the cool liquid. Once full, she wades back out and starts to graze on the sweet grass around the shore, pushing other mares away with just her presence. She flicks her lightly scented tail and twitches her ear as she hears some hoofbeats, they sound as if they were getting closer so she looks up to see Haunt approaching. The sight of the large stallion makes the mare snort and flatten her ears a bit, but she doesn't move, moving would mean submitting to his dominance and she refuses to do so. Storm tosses her head when he touches her flank and cocks a hind leg to warn him to keep his distance. Her draft blood makes her heavier than the stallion which in turn means her kicks would be strong enough to break a rib if she puts enough force behind it. She looks back at him with narrowed eyes, unimpressed and unwilling to join him.

This was beginning to become a good day. The stallion watched the mare accept him with no sort of hesitation as he had expected at first. What she did made things a lot easier for him, he didn't need a mare in heat idly walking with him, for one it'd drive him crazy, two, it would attract other stallions. -Fade. The stallion returned the the Arabian mare's side and gently nuzzled it, she was his as he was hers. Protection for having foals, pretty easy in his mind when it came to decisions. He decided now to let the two mares work out things now as he moved off to the side and dropped his head to graze.

a dark palomino dapple mare stood by the flowing stream, the water cooling her burning throat. valen was so thirsty, having just escaped her previous encounter with a bachelor. she hated them, despised them, hatred showing in her pure black eyes. the way they tore into any equine's soul, she made them tremble in fear. the mare knew her scent was becoming stronger, going to attract more vile bachelors to her side. valen lifted her head from the water, the cold liquid dripping from her dark grey lips. she made her way away from the river, pushing into a brisk canter. there was no time to rest, not even time to breathe unless, you wanted to be caught. her dark grey nostrils flared from exertion, her muscles aching.

days of thunder pranced around the meadow, his tail whipping behind him like a flag. his ice blue eyes looked around for new mares to impress, a light neigh echoing from his lips. then, a strong heat smell smacked him dead on, his ears immediately flicked forward. he stopped prancing around, hearing a call after he had smelled the scent. thunder whinnied happily, picking up a canter in that direction. his eyes showed determination, his blood starting to pump faster through his veins. his large muscles rippled underneath his handsome paint coat as he pressed on. finally, he saw her, a beautiful bay mare, all by herself. a slight grin appeared on his face as he slowed to a trot, making his way towards her.

The mare slowed her pace as she felt that her filly was safe within this land for now, she had not scented the smell of another nor did the filly so any fear.. Onyx slowed keeping her eye on her foal for just a moment before glancing behind her to make sure she was not followed with the loud noises they had just made. Realized to see no one the mare was relaxed and began to lower her head to graze before she heard the panicked squeak of her foal; her grey head shot up and her tail whipped hard behind her as quickly the mare took off full speed toward her filly. Ears pinned and hooves slamming to the ground, she spotted the small horse quickly whining out to her and coming to her side she put herself before Estella and began to nip at her, running her lips along her back. All seemed well but what spooked her?

Her head lifted away from her little one and peered in the direction she had come. A stallion. The mare stiffened. Her ears pinned and she tapped her hoof on the ground hard moving between Estella and the stallion the threw her head back in aggression and annoyance. She had heard of stallions separating mother from foal to get the mother and Onyx would not have it. Scrapping her hoof on the ground the grey mare stood her ground snorting, chuffing, and throwing her front hoof. The stallion was bigger and stronger yes, but Onyx was a mother. Her eyes did not leave Vagabond.
