aspen howled, loud and clear, knowing the pups would be coming soon. her belly now swollen, it made it hard to do anything, and since there was no medic, she had no one to bring her food, herbs, or someone to help her birth. aspen was scared, she wanted to eat so all of her pups would live and become adults. small tears dripped down her cheeks as she outstretched her neck out on the cold, hard ground carelessly.
