Belladonna was only 5 years old when she was told that her mother abandoned her in such poor health. The small child with raven black hair and the star-filled hazel eyes had been the result of a high school teenage pregnancy, and was just dumped carelessly off to the side of the school as a newborn infant. She had severe brain damage, impairing her long term memory, her short term memory, and her ability to understand things. Despite all these factors, she is indeed a fairly bright girl from what she can grasp.
Bella had been found by a homeless man who brought her to an orphanage where she was taken care of to their highest ability. The homeless man's name was Robert Estello, and he had given her the name Belladonna after his favorite flower. She has definitely grown into her name in appearance, but her personality is brighter than ever.
Every now and again Robert would visit Bella and keep her company when the other kids would get adopted. The other parents wouldn't take her due to her learning and memory disabilities. Robert would come and teach her what he could, patiently trying as hard as he could to make something worthwhile stick. Bella is slowly making progress, thanks to Robert.
After years of taking care of her, Robert wished nothing more than to be able to adopt the small child, but even after all this time, he still couldn't afford the fees. A month before Bella's fifth birthday, Robert died from HIV.
Leaning into her windowsill one night, she looked up at the stars and wished as must as her little heart would let her, that she would find a new home. She wanted more than anything to have Robert back, but she knew that something that big was out of the control of even the highest of powers.
Suddenly a shooting star flew lazily across the sky, and Bella watched it in awe. Noticing that it was growing bigger, she stepped back from the window as a furry little ball of starlight crash landed in her room at the orphanage. It looked at her with wide kind eyes, and Bella shyly stepped closer to it. "Hi" she said in a quiet voice and the strange creature opened up a bottle around it's neck, taking out a small envelope and showing it to Bella. Reading it, she handed it back to the spotted ball of fluff. "You heard me." her eyes gleamed.
Since that day, Belladonna named her new friend Laidee, and the two of them had been inseparable. Laidee granted Bella's wish, and helped her find a new home where she was loved and taken care of by Melissa and Joseph Viramontez. Even when Laidee goes off to grant the wishes of other small soul's her heart will always belong to Bella, and she will always return home when she's called.

She would find great joy in running around grassy windy fields with her arms spread out like wings. She would climb up old crumbly boulders, and when she was at the top, she would puff out her chest, and take a graceful leap to the ground.
But one day, she was running around a coastal cliff. She peered over the edge, staring at the crashing, powerful waves with a gaping mouth of awe.
She dreamily gazed at birds gliding over the waves, riding the air current with ease. They seemed almost weightless.
She crossed her fingers and lay her chin on her folded arms, and barely pronounced a whisper, "I wish... I could be like them. I wish I could fly, and have not a care in the world..."
At that moment, a small fuzzy creature, flying at a high altitude, heard her words. The little impish thing thought, "Well, if she wants to fly, why doesn't she try?"
And she swooped down, pushing the little girl off of the cliff.....

Her mother would stand outside with her around the same time every night to watch for the first star, and when they saw it, they would sing the wishes song together and make a wish. But her mother had fallen ill, and was no longer strong enough to keep up their tradition. So on this night, after wishing the same thing for the past few nights, her wish was finally chosen by Marieta; She wishes for her mother to get better. Every night when she would wish for her mother's health, she would sing the song by herself and think about her wish really, really hard. Marieta heard her wish loud and clear, and believed that it was most definitely the most important. Duets never sound as sweet when they're sung alone.

this one was a little word-heavy, and i know i'm judging on names and not stories, but honestly the message got through loud and clear <3 i have a soft spot for the name belladonna and i loved your backstory!
i loved your characters, even though i knew them for such a short time, and the happy ending made me wibble hh X3
