Well the owner could have switched her specialities when they were training. You could change it up to a certain age so it's very possible. If its an older horse then it could be that the specialty was switched from classic to western like one of my horses.

From the age of three to five, I think.
You can change the specialty on the horses page. Click the + sign by the horse's name -> edit profile and it should be there.
