First anime? Well like pretty much everyone else, Pokemon is definitely one. I also watched Captain Future when I was little, it was an anime my mom watched when she was younger so we would watch it, I also watched some Ginga Densetsu Weed, Case Closed and Keroro Gunsou though the first one anime I ever finished and obsessed over was Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

On the topic of the first anime you've ever watched... The year my otaku career started was around '09-'10, and I believe my first anime was Sailor Moon or Dragon Ball Z. But the thing is, I never finished either of the two. I'm pretty sure I just saw one episode of each and completely abandoned them afterwards, aha. But a real answer of the first legit anime I completed was Lemon Angel Project. I also remember D. Gray-Man and Reborn! being quite popular anime(s) at the time, nevertheless the few following years after. (ahaha, I'm probably already known as the laziest here, because I never finished Reborn! (heck, I am stuck on around episode 17, out of the 200 or so eps) and never started or really got into D. Gray-man.) They're both still on my list though after those good chunk of years o.o""

I got into anime around 2008 or beginning of '09, so I've also been with it for quite some time. XD
If you didn't get past ep 20 in KHR, you should relook at it. KHR doesn't really start until 20, and after that it becomes absolutely amazing. I very nearly dropped it after just a couple of episodes, but I stuck with it after reading a recommendation, and I do not regret that decision at all.
