Those dang bats were everywhere and were quite annoying, but they were getting easier to kill. Rina's strength was already growing. She had not only encountered bats, of course. A snake with two heads and poison tail had nearly made it "game over" for her, but she defeated it. When she had run into another one, it had been simple to take it down. Once she realized to cut the tail off so there wasn't the threat of being poisoned, killing the monster had been easy. Then there had been the flesh-eating venus fly trap - which had been extremely creepy, to say the least. By the time Rina had come across that thing, she'd had no problem with it at all. Her skill in the real world was sure helping. Her mind already knew what to do, so getting her virtual body to follow suit was a snap. Already, she was adjusting to the use of her new body. "Hmm, I wonder how long until this path ends?" she thought out loud as she continued through the forest. Another bat had just recently tried to dive bomb her, only to end up impaled to a tree. She kept her blade unsheathed now, at the ready for whenever she needed it. She'd made the mistake of sheathing her sword and been unable to block the attack of one of those snake monsters in time. Good thing it hadn't struck her with it's tail or she'd be dead from the poison. The trees soon began to thin, and the appearance of monsters became less and less. Rina felt at ease enough to put her sword away, and she now walked with her arms crossed behind her head, going at a slow, casual pace. She wasn't in any hurry.

Horatio glanced at his profile. His katana skill had significantly rose after the fight with the reptile lion. He had only seen it once in the forest, so it must've been high leveled and rare. He smiled at his own look, gripping the hilt of his katana. He had also won a bonus item too from it. It was rough lion skin hide, but he chose to store it in his inventory for later use to sell it for a great deal of money. Money had never been a problem to him, in the real world, and in the virtual world. He was equally good in getting it and earning it. Several bat like creatures suddenly swarmed around him and Horatio sighed in annoyance. They were a nuisiance by now, following him all around the forest, and they didn't really help him with skills training. He took out his tanto and in a singular motion brought it in an arc in front of him. And explosion of several polygonal shards danced in front of him, slowly fading until nothing. The part of the forest here was getting less dense, and he had been approximately walking for an hour or two now, assuming the sun had traveled across the sky for a little bit. There were no players around here, so he guessed he was in the lead. He smiled to himself; there was no one to challenge his position now. Who could possibly attain his level of skills of where he was at now? Most players were probably still stuck in the first village or even the Holy Grounds Castle! They were all trapped as cattle, only to be followers. But he, would be no follower, he would be a leader! He took brisk quick strides, not in a hurry, but the excitement boiling up in his blood.

Seemed the poison barbs she had collected would be worth quite a bit. Archers and assassins could use them to poison their weapons. Rina twirled a dagger she had acquired in one hand as she walked, her expression thoughtful. So far, she hadn't run into any other players. Was she very far ahead? Or was she behind? She was sure that she couldn't be behind. When she had logged in, there had not been many players around. So she guessed that she had to be ahead. At least a little bit. Another bat had decided to wander closer to the edge of the forest and Rina reached back, snagging the creature by one wing bare-handed. "Annoying." she muttered, slicing it's head off with the dagger and dropping it to the forest floor. It was then that she sensed another presence somewhere behind her. She paused, glancing over her shoulder with one hand resting on the hilt of her sword. Was it another player?

There was an paronoid presence, a feeling as if someone was there. Horatio quickly leaped on a low branch of the tree nimbly, looking down. A dark shadow crossed the path and a girl walked by. He was sure he would be the first player around here at least, but there was someone else who had been smart enough to even think of the skill leveling method? I'm not the only one here, eh? Well, time to go have some fun! He silently leaped from branch to branch, until he was right above the girl. Drawing out the tanto its black scabbard, he dropped down below, aiming for her head with a grin on his face.

Yes, there was another player out there, she was sure. They must have been level grinding, as well. She continued to walk, acting as if she didn't notice that there was someone there. A soft woosh of wind somewhere above told her that whoever it was had leaped into the trees. "Trying an ambush. Someone is selfish." she muttered lowly, sidestepping as the shift in air pressure indicated that the other player was dropping down from above. As she moved, Rina unsheathed her sword and dropped into a defensive stance, copper gaze narrowed. "And what reason would you have for attacking me so early on in the game?" she demanded.

Horatio dropped to the ground, observing the girl. "Why not?" There was a flash in the air and the tanto was flying straight towards the girl. Using that as a distraction, Horatio drew out his daito, aiming it at he with a wide arc slash, trying to chop her in half with a clean slice.

A subtle, almost amused smirk tugged at the corners of her lips. "Point taken." she commented in monotone, stepping to the side as he threw his tanto at her. Weak try at a distraction, thought she. When he came at her, she sheathed her sword to give herself full use of both hands. As far as brute strength went, she knew she would lose if she tried to go head to head with him. Instead, she dove out of the way, twisting herself up into a handstand and sending a kick at him, aimed for his head. It wasn't strong, but if it connected, he would be stunned momentarily.

"Weak," he muttered, holding his arm up to absorb most of the kick. There wasn't much of it anyway. He grabbed the tanto from the tree at the side of him. Now that she was in close range, he threw it again and at the same time twisted his arm around to lock her leg. His arm was a bit bruised but it wouldn't matter compared to getting her with the tanto.

Kageko sighed as she pulled her headphones off of her ears. It was time. Time to begin her journey in Renegade Rally Online, the latest and greatest MMORPG. She didn't like video games, but something was different about this one. You didn't just control the characters; you were them. She replaced her headphones with the FullDive, then lay down. She closed her eyes and hesitated. I wonder.... But then the thought was gone. "Link start," she said aloud, her voice the only noise in the room. Then her vision funneled into a mix of colors.

Kageko now stood in a different room, with a large hologram before her. Login screen. Username. Password. Her fingers hovered over the keys. 'Kage' was what she typed in. It meant shadow, taken from the beginning of her own name. Alright, she thought. Now a password. Kageko put in her birthday; first the year, then month, then day. She clicked enter. A second screen popped up, one of a samurai and one of a knight. She keyed the button for the samurai and was suddenly thrown into a short teleportation before appearing on a big, floating castle. A few other players milled around, watched as one boy swiped his hand next to him, then disappeared. She did the same. Her character profile was pretty much the same height as the real world, but with long pink hair and blue eyes.

Kageko looked for the teleport button. Hoken of the East Star, or Oshu of the West Star? Hoken was where samurai went, so she clicked that one. She didn't have a weapon yet, so she decided to go find one.

"Ryuu! Play with me!" Ryuu rolled his eyes at the sound of his annoying little sister's voice. He turned to look at her from the top of the stairs. "No thanks." She frowned and asked why. "Because," he said, starting toward his room. "I have better things to do." He slammed the door shut and grinned. Better things indeed, he thought, eagerly sliding the FullDive gear onto his head. He'd been waiting for this moment ever since he knew that RRO was to be released. "Link start!" And then he was teleported to the start of his newest adventure in the virtual world.

He was standing in a room with a hologram before him, asking him to put in a username and password. I'll just use my own name, he thought, proceeding to type 'Ryuu' into the first box. For the password, he put what he used for all MMORPGs; his favorite flavor of ice cream. After clicking enter, he looked up at the images of the samurai and the knight. "Feudal Japan or medieval? he said aloud, pretending to think long and hard on the subject. The answer was obvious. A knight; for samurai was too close to home. He'd bought RRO to get out of the real world, not be in an amped-up version of it. He pressed that option, and was teleported to a floating castle. Ryuu swiped up his profile. Holy Grounds, a 'safe spot'. He grinned after seeing the image of himself. Shaggy white hair, lanky but muscular body, red eyes. I like it, he thought.

Oshu of the West Star was where he then teleported to. The homeland of the knights. He appeared in a medieval themed village, with lots of shops and buildings and people walking around. First stop, the blacksmith's.

Kenshin Murakami - Kami - Knight

Murakami stood at the rooftop at the building watching the passing clouds. It was a perfect day, even in RRO. There was no way he was going to train today, there was no need. Hardly any competition had come by and either the players were too stupid to teleport to the Oshu planet or they were too dumb to level their skills up. He sat back, watching the sky. He didn't really like anyone else's company and preferred to be alone. Murakami held up his newly stolen weapon, a four clawed bladed metal knuckle claw with padding to strap to your hands. It wasn't a medieval item, it was a feudal Japan item. He had snuck onto the enemy planet, stole a weapon and come back. He never really liked the medieval weapons presented to him, nor did he like feudal Japanese ways. He found being a knight much more pleasant. Opening one eye, he saw a shaggy white haired young guy passing by. He seemed more than just an ordinary player, as if he knew the world to himself. He would have to be on guard with him.
