"I don't need time to know what my awnser is, Leo," Vanessa awnsered him in sudden seriousness, then she closed her eyes and looked away, blushing. "Um, sorry about that. You know I really like you and ofcoarse I want to be your girlfriend. There are just tiny," That word didn't sound right to her, "problems to that. I mean," She laughed a little, "I'm your guardian angel for who knows how long. There's a possibility I'll be your guardian angel for your entire life. And, who knows, if I'm your girlfriend now, then later on your lover-you might get sick of me and I'm not allowed to leave you. Now I'm talking about when you go to college and there might be some other chick that catches your eyes. So then you dump me. I'm not allowed to go. Then there's your new girlfriend. I might have some feelings for you still. And that's when things get awkward and hectic. Now I'm just talking about the worst case scenerio if I'm your girlfriend. So I'll leave the option to you-do you want to be my boyfriend?" This is what she mean't by 'guiding him through his life'.

Blinking at him as he flew off, Rubis heeved out an annoyed sigh, then laughed a little. "He's such a baby," She laughed, taking out her camera from her bag and winking at her boyfriend. "Say 'cheese'!" She giggled before taking a picture of Tyler, then standing up and walking towards Hecate and Chase. "So, how about a picture for the cute couple?" She asked Chase and Hecate, smiling friendily. "I don't mind!" Chase exclaimed, then looked at Hecate with happy eyes.

Leo hesitated. She was right, of course; if he said yes, then things between them could get seriously awkward, and they might start to hate each other. And he didn't want that. Ever. He was also Leo, which meant that he had had his share of girlfriends, and he had never really kept one for long, so that meant that he doubted whether he would keep her or not. It was his nature. He liked her now, but would that change? Almost unconsciously, he got off of her and sat back at her feet, not really noticing anything around him as he thought. There might be something there... But could he risk all of the pain that could come from that? If she was his guardian angel, it would be irreversible. Heaven had a twisted sense of humor, sometimes. His eyes had a distant look in them, and they had cooled back to their normal state. This was a serious situation, and he felt that.

Hecate looked up at Rubis, startled, and realized that she had called them 'the cute couple'. Hadn't Rubis just been yelling at her less than a week ago? She looked up at the other girl, her face calm when normally she would have greeted someone with a smile. Looking over at Chase, she suddenly laughed at how he looked, and she had to comply. "All right. Where should we be?"

Vanessa sat up as soon as he was off of her and rubbed her eyes slightly, making a small yawn. It was getting close to noon, but so far this day was tiring for her. Her wings wrapped themselves around her and she hugged herself too, just to stay warm. As she did all this, her warm brown eyes were focused on Leo, wondering what his awnser might be. If it's yes, then there might be alot of complications in not just his future, but hers too. If he said no, then he'll just have to keep himself restricted from touching her like that ever again. Simple as that, Vanessa thought, then mentally laughed, If only it were.

Taking a look around with Chase, an idea popped in Rubis' head and she pointed towards the tides. "Over there, just feet deep in the water," Rubis instructed the two, and Chase stood up, holding out his hand towards Hecate. "Yes, when you're over there, Chase should do something like a hug or maybe a kiss, but it'll have to look very romantic. Then when I take the picture-you both will just have to wait for tomorrow or maybe the day after for your suprise. Ok? Just a special gift from me." Winking at the two with a smile, she started to prepare her camera.

Damn, this was a harder decision than Leo had thought it would be. For some reason, he wasn't thinking for himself, which he would normally do in a situation like this, but for Vanessa. He didn't want her hurt, and he couldn't trust himself not to wander. Slowly, he shook his head, his eyes staring down at the ground. If he said no, he would still hurt her, and then he would want her even more because she would be like a forbidden fruit. There was no way of winning this situation. But he couldn't think for himself. If he was to do this, it would be for her. "No," he said softly, almost too soft to be heard. "No," he repeated, louder and firmer, his eyes now looking right at her.

Again, Hecate looked startled. Have him kiss her when they had others watching? Awkward for her, to say the least. But she nodded anyway and took Chase's hands, standing up. She still didn't look at Rubis, but at Chase, wondering what he would do. Drawing him over to the water, she stood in it, her feet covered with the lapping tide.

Vanessa's eyes looked like they changed, but at the same time, they didn't. Then she closed her eyes and bowed her head to him. "I understand," She said as she lifted her head, almost sounding different. Standing up and fixed her bikini a little, she smiled at him-though it wasn't the same smile she would give him before-and held out her hand. "Come on, let's join the others," She told him, her wings folded agaisnt her back again and no longer wrapped around her. This time as she stood, she stood more like a guard or maybe a CIA agent instead of the young angel who had a crush or maybe was in love. Vanessa understood his decision immeadiately when she read his thoughts, and she respected that. However, her heart was slowly falling into peices.

A shudder ran down Chase at how cold the water was, but he still felt warm with the generousity Rubis gave him. "Alright, I think I'll know what to do," Chase decided, looking back at Rubis and nodded at her with a wide grin. As if knowing what he was going to do, she laughed and prepared the camera. "This is going to look nice," She commented. One of Chase's arms went around Hecate's lower back as he dipped her slightly, kissing her lips softly and his other hand made her lift her leg just very slightly before it went to her face, where it carressed her cheek gently. Upon seeing that, Rubis took a couple of pictures, then applauded to the two. "Excellent! I'll be on my way now," Rubis told them from afar, walking away. However, Chase was still kissing Hecate.

Seeing Vanessa's expression and the way that she stood put a sharp pang through Leo's heart. He closed his eyes tightly and just sat there, trying to block the pain that was seeping into him as well. He didn't want to see the damage that he had caused, even if he knew it was the lesser of the two evils. Even taking her hand was difficult for him, but he managed to do it and stood up, putting on a sad smile. He had been trying to go for a relaxed, happy one. Dammit. There was no way that he could pretend that it didn't hurt him too. "All right. Whatever you want." Before, he would have held his arm out to her, a chivalrous gesture that he always seemed to be doing. Normally, in the past, a man would do that for any lady. But he didn't have the heart to. Instead, he just started to walk away, his eyes staring at the ground.

Catching both of their looks, Hecate looked between both of them in apprehension. What was he going to do? Normally she could guess, but she was repressing the idea of what Chase was planning. "I have a bad feeling about--" She was cut off when Chase dipped her, and out of surprise, her arms wrapped around his shoulders and neck. Warmth surged through her, practically melting her. She didn't pull away but let herself fall into the kiss, liking the feel of how his lips felt against hers. Now she understood why people loved relationships. If they always felt this good, then she couldn't blame them.

Ty laughed as Rubis took the picture, of him and then of Hecate and Chase. "Who gets their picture taken next?" he asked, looking around at what everyone was doing. Over where Tamby was building her castle- fort, he saw her little wings and everything below her waist sticking up out of the hole. Her head and front arms were inside, making a hole big enough for her to sit in. He chuckled and grinned as he watched.

Her heart seemed to skip beats in distress, but Vanessa nodded at him and leveled her head. "It's the other way around, Leo," She corrected him when he told her 'whatever she wants', then shrugged as if not taking care about it. When he walked away, she walked close to the side, but behind him like a servant. Despite how she looked like a servant, her form looked like one of a bodyguard. The angel was so tempted to hug him from behind and never let go and whisper soft, reassuring words to him. Just to make him feel better, and just to see him brighten up again. "Leo, there's no need to be sad," She told him, her voice gentle, "there are more women out there. Besides, love would've only gotten in the way of my job as your angel." At the last part, there was some professionalism in her voice, but barely noticible hints of other feelings; feelings that were being guarded.

Rubis looked back at the two kissing eachother, worry crossing her eyes. Does he think of Taz when he kisses her? She thought suddenly, Will Hecate be just like Taz? Trying to shake off the sudden worry for her best friend, Rubis turned around to Tyler, then smiled at him. "I got an idea," She said, then kissed him lightly on the cheek, using one hand to take a picture, the other holding onto his other cheek. When she pulled away after the picture was taken, she smiled at him and looked past him, seeing Tamby. "Hey Tamby! Why don't you pose for me?" Rubis called out to the young angel.

Looking over his shoulder and seeing that it actually was in the other direction, Leo winced in embarrassment and changed direction. He knew that she was acting like a bodyguard now, and it was weird compared to how she had acted before. His head swiveled around to look at Vanessa with what she said. "Shouldn't I be the one comforting you?" It was barely noticeable, those hints in her voice, but he had heard them. Being a werewolf had its perks sometimes. He shook his head, a tiny smile on his face that had traces of humor in it. "Right. I'll always find someone." A thought occurred to him. "Can guardian angels even have lovers, or does that get in the way of the job?"

Hecate pulled away from Chase, panting for air and her eyes narrowed with the heady taste that kissing the lion hybrid flooded her with. "Did I not tell you to warn me?" Her voice didn't hold any anger, just the same surprise, even though she still felt like she had melted. A smile curved her lips.
