The. Basics.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Name; Spiderkit, Spiderpaw, Spiderclaw
Gender; Duh, a she-cat!
Age; 84 moons, or seven seasons.
Personality; She's an elder, and she's generally cranky, but because of her old age she is generally very tired. She can have a sharp tongue, and she can be very protective of her son, Kinktail or the other elders sometimes. When she was younger though, she was extremely good in combat just like her son. She doesn't talk much, but can be seen talking to her son. Because of her very rough past, this is the cause of her not talking much. She can be very cranky when upset or angered, and cats generally avoid her when she is in this state. She is usually calm, and has very weak legs, making her un-able to stand properly, without falling over. She knows she will pass away soon, but she doesn't want to alert her son to that, so when the talk of it arises, she will quickly tell her son; "I won't leave you, I'll just be gone for a while," and leave it at that.
History; She has a very rough past; ever since her kits were born. She knew Kinktail was different from the others; he would seen withdrawn and more mature then his age required. It felt horrible when her daughter, Partridgepaw, left the clan; but she respected her choices. Sadly, the next day she was seen dead; mauled by the jaws of a fox. Growing depressed, she seeked shelter within the paws of her beloved mate, Cedarstar. Soon coming to her senses, she watched as her soon grew to be a marvelous warrior; but was soon struck when she learned her mate was going to die after his whitecough turned into greencouch, she kept it hidden from her son; she didn't want to cause him more pain after he had just recovered from his sister's death a few moons ago. Shaken to her core when her mate's couch turned worse, into blackcough, she watched helplessly as her mate died while coughing and choking on blood. Drawing back into her depression, she soon grew older and was switched to the elder's den. She watched as her son came to visit her everyday, and she grew over-protective of him. When she learned her bones were thinning faster than normal as a cat aged, she soon could not stand properly without risking of falling over and hurting herself. She stays in her nest all day now; where she reflects on her life.
Rank; Elder

Kin; Mate; Cedarstar. (deceased) Daughter; Partridgepaw, or Cookie. (deceased) Son; Kinktail.
Appearance; A lovely black she-cat with silver in her pelt; she has silver hairs growing around her muzzle, though these are from old age, not the hairs she was born with. Pretty olive green eyes. She has very long legs.
Love. Life; Her former mate was Cedarstar, and she does not want another mate or crush, for she is much to old.
Strengths; Nothing is her strength anymore; though when she was a younger version of herself, she had very long claws, which her son adapted from her. She used to be extremely well in combat, and was respected among the clan
Weaknesses; Definitely her ability to walk; she no longer can walk, though she can move her legs slightly when shifting positions, though she can not crouch.
"Special". Ability; When she was younger, she had extremely long legs, making her taller than most cats. (besides her mate and a few others) This let her run fast and jump far, not to mention her ferocious appearance and attitude in battle, struck fear in her enemy's hearts.

Dipperfang

The. Basics.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Name; Dipperkit, Dipperpaw, Dipperfang
Gender; A tom, last time he checked
Age; 40 moons, or three seasons and four moons
Personality; This tom is very respectful of his clan-mates; nothing generally makes him mad, and he is generally a sweetheart who can be extremely patient with other cats. He's very good in hunting and fighting though, thus this is why his suffix is '-fang'. When he is mad, he can sometimes snap at an approaching cat, but will quickly cool down and apologize. He is larger then most cats, sometimes almost towering over the smaller ones. His fluffy fur also make for a large appearance, and he sometimes feels hurt when cats shrink away from him. Though he is seen as intimidating, when around he is a lovely cat with a great personality. Though in combat he is ruthless, and won't stop to think what he's doing. In hunting, he can slink along the ground without barely a disturbance of the leaves, and he steps lightly on his toes so he won't break sticks. He can get annoyed though, but rarely. When he is, he has the 'get away from me' vibes.
History; Born as a single kit, he was raised by a she-cat who did not act like a true mother or queen. She would always remind him before they went to sleep that 'he was only born for the good of the clan' and that she wouldn't have kits if she couldn't. Often being hurt with these stinging words, he learned how to control his anger or sadness, and soon would be disturbed or angered by very little things, thus this was how he formed such a great personality. Though he was taken aback by his mother's words, he stilled loved her, and still sleeped or played near her. When he became a apprentice, one day his mother had taken him behind the apprentice den, and spat foul words at him, consisting of things like; 'you shouldn't have been born, but it was good for the clan, so I went through the mess of raising you. Your lucky your a clan cat, or something worse would have been done!' Stung and shocked by these words, he soon got alone with his father one day, asking him to have a personal 'hunt' session. Gathering the facts he needed when he pressed his father for words, he explained that his mother acted like this towards him because her mother and father had her on accident, and her mother never payed attention to her only fed her, while her father always spat at her to leave him alone. When he became a warrior, he watched his father get crippled as his sister died, her neck torn by a badger. Soon his parents where placed in the elders den, and he watched them die together from a bad case of greencough. Dipperfang was depressed for a few moons over the death of his parents, but soon he got over it.
Rank; Warrior!

Kin; Mother; Buzzardwhisker. (deceased) Father; Nightclaw. (deceased)
Appearance; A large, very dark brown cat that almost looks black; he has light green/blue eyes, and a white chest.
Love. Life; No one
Strengths; Working very well in hunting and combat, this tom was very good in his apprenticeship, and he can easily tackle and pin a cat that is smaller them him. He has large canines as well.
Weaknesses; He can be tender around his past; hinting directly at his mother's relationship with him. He sometimes kicks in his sleep, usually nightmares of him being chased out of the clan by his mother.
"Special". Ability; Extremely good in combat and hunting, this tom could fend for himself easily outside of the clan, as well as have a successful life at that. His calm and flowing personality tends to get him on cat's good sides- rather then their bad sides. A special trait he has as well is an incredible sense of balance, though his fighting and hunting skills are more noticeable, since he hates heights.

The. Basics.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Name; Hornetkit, Hornetpaw, Hornet-tail
Gender; She's a she-cat, duh!
Age; 40 moons or three seasons and four moons
Personality; Hornet-tail isn't the cat you probably want to go to first if you need help with something; unless you want your pelt clawed off. Hornet-tail's stinging words from her tongue are worse then her stinging bite. With not much personality or psychical attributes; she's kind of a slump. But note she does have an incredible sense of balances; it's hard for her to fall off of almost anything, hence the suffix '-tail'. She can be very impatient at times; usually when she wants something and it's taking forever to do. When angry; she can be very rude, but will calm down after a few moments alone.
History; Born to a single a she-cat, her father died moons ago. Her mother was a pretty, and not to mention slim, golden she-cat. Her name was Tansystream, because she was amazing at swimming. She usually would play with her brother near a small little stream in the middle of camp, and their mother taught them how to catch little minnows. Unfortunately, they couldn't catch much until they were an apprentice. When Hornet-tail became an apprentice, she went on a border patrol with herself, her mother, and her mentor Mapletail. She was only seven moons, a new warrior, and couldn't understand scents as much as the two older cats, and when they smelled fox, she didn't know what it was, for she had never smelled it before. She heard her mother curse, and Mapletail hiss, and felt herself being thrown into a bush. "Stay down!" She had heard her mother hiss to her, and watched as a slim, russet-colored canine came out from behind a tree. She watched as Mapletail signaled for her to run back to camp and tell the leader, she took the chance and snuck away. She could hear distant screeches and yelps, and wailed as she had entered camp. When the patrol was sent off, she was told to stay at camp. When they returned, they dragged two bodies with them: her mentor, and her mother. They declared her mother dead, and her mentor close to death. Stung with the loss of her mother, she withdrew into her apprentice den, and tried to sleep off the nightmares that came each night. When her mentor lived, Hornet-tail went to her for comfort, but she was loudly hissed at and a sharp "stay away from me!" came every time she came near. Clear that Mapletail blamed her for her mother's death; she soon stayed near her brother. When she became a warrior, she became independent and having sharp remarks and a terrible sense of humor; but she never gave up training, so she could please her mother.
Rank; A warrior!

Thank you for reminding me to post up about pointed cats on the Common Problems post. My job here isn't to critique your cat's coat, though I must state for the record that pointed cats are specifically bred to be pointed, and they do not exist in the wild naturally. Your cat will, most likely, have to be an ex-kittypet, or someone with very recent kittypet origins.

Also! I did a quick Google search on lynx points, and there are a wide variety of them and what they look like, so I can't really be sure on what your cat actually looks like. Please be a bit more specific next time, coloring wise ("lynx pointed cat with brown/black points and markings across the legs/thighs" would be perfect, for example). It makes rating and suggestions a lot easier.

Rate: 6/10
Type: Canonical
Reasoning: Thrush- means a grey-brown cat, traditionally. Pointeds tend to be pale gold in color (cream, whatever), with darker, usually brown legs, tail, and face. You can see the issue here.
I do understand that -mask can mean a pointed cat, but as said above, there are no pointed cats in the wild naturally, so the Clans, most likely, would not have a specific suffix for them (the only specific marking suffix is -stripe, and even then that has some rules to it, so there's no point). They have a skill, speed, and here we tend to value skill over appearance.
Pointed cats are inherently difficult to name, just so you know, so these suggested names will be a little shaky.
Alternative Name: Daisyfoot/Knotfoot. Daisy- means either a light golden cat or a white one, so depending on how dark or big their markings are they could be named for the majority of their coat. Knot- refers to a grey-and-white patched cat (assuming that the markings in question are merely slightly darker than the rest of the coat), and -foot refers to a fast cat.

Thank you, I like the explanations behind the different names and the colour descriptions. I was picturing a seal point(Picture below), so I think that Daisyfoot wouldn't match the cat as much. I like Knotfoot, though I may change it to Knotstep to make it a little more unique(I like using words that aren't used as often). Do you think that would work as well? Thanks again-I will likely ask for another rating sometime soon~

Thanks for the picture. With this, I'd say we should go for a white name rather than a patched name. They're the vast majority white, and the patches aren't dark enough to elicit a name regarding them. I suggest going with Blizzard-, Laurel-, Light-, Sloe-, or Cloud- (there's a couple others, but I think these ones might fit your tastes some).

As for -step, I'm afraid that wouldn't work out well for a few reasons. The first reason is that uniqueness isn't offered here; practicality and solid naming are. You'll probably be exchanging a special name like Roselove, that means nothing but sounds unique, for a name like Redheart, which may sound common but has a meaning - a red colored cat who has a strong moral code.
The second reason is that -step has some prerequisites that wouldn't fit this cat. The two rules of -step are that the cat must walk like the prefix, and the prefix must suit the cat (for example, a black cat named Crowstep who tends to do a little hop with each step, or a small brown cat named Mousestep for his quick, small movements). It's a very difficult suffix to give, and generally is uncommon for that specific reason.
Finally, skill goes over personality-based traits, at least in this section of traditionalism. He's a very fast cat, thus he ought to be named for his speed. Skill, then Personality, then Appearance, in order of highest to lowest priority. If he had no particular skills and happened to walk like his prefix (which must be an animal), then it could work, but I really recommend going with -foot.

Sorry if anything sounds weird, we've had a car alarm going off for the past 3 hours and my sanity's draining.

Spiderclaw
Name Rating: 10/10
Name Type: Traditional
Name Reasoning: Not much to say, other than the name fitting perfectly.
Alternative Name: None!

Character Rating: 9/10
Character Reasoning: I think the only thing questionable is why she'd receive the name -claw if her most notable skill was running and jumping. But since she was great in battles, we can leave that be.

Dipperfang
Name Rating: 10/10
Name Type: Traditional
Name Reasoning: The name fits, and like Spiderclaw, ain't much to say!
Alternative Name: None.

Character Rating: 8/10
Character Reasoning: I can't really imagine that a) a mother cat would routinely tell her kit how much she hated him, b) that he would still love her anyway, and c)the Clan would not be catching wind of this and letting her have it. I think I should post up a list of things to keep in mind with warrior OCs, one of those things being that a secret is impossible to keep in a community as tight-knit as a Clan. Someone would hear her insulting him and probably report it to the leader, who would publicly let everyone know that this queen's being awful to her kit, and he would probably get transferred to another queen (the queens all take care of each others' kits anyways, so he'd have multiple choices). I mean, this is straight up verbal and psychological abuse - and in a community of around 20-40 cats, all of whom you've grown up with or watched grow up, who you see as a family, it's astonishing that anyone would let this slide.
He'd probably have horrible self-esteem issues for this, as a side note.
Anyway, his personality checks out just fine, but that abuse thing is a huge issue that needs to be addressed.

Hornet-tail
Name Rating: 10/10
Name Type: Traditional
Name Reasoning: Credit to you for finding an orange tabby with black or dark brown stripes. The list calls for a ginger or golden tabby, and doesn't specify the need for darker stripes, but you picked up on that, so well done.
Anyway, the name fits her just fine!
Alternative Name: None.

Character Rating: 7/10
Character Reasoning: Like with Dipperfang, the personality is fine (I'm glad you mentioned that she's a bit of a slump; with a personality like that she probably would just stagnate as a warrior), but the past needs to be addressed.
You know what else I should put on that hypothetical list? "Your character's past should not be longer than their personality". The reason for that is because people tend to send me very specific, very detailed histories, usually tragic and cliched, that have absolutely noting to do with the character themselves. I'm more concerned with the present - who the cat is, not who they lost.
Anyway, I don't know why she would lose her mother and her mentor in one fell swoop to a fox (given that small patrols can easily scare them off if they're experienced warriors), nor why it would effect her as long as it does.
Death is a regular thing in the warrior world. The motto is pretty much "Eat, sleep, work, fight, die", or it would be if I had a say. You're expected to die for your Clan, and cats can't spend their lives grieving over the losses of this and that.
There is, also, the fact that people around them would be dying anyways, and you don't see the character throwing themselves on the ground and weeping for them, despite the fact that they lived and grew with these cats, and just because their not related doesn't mean that they aren't good friends.
What's the phrase... "The bonds we make are more important than the bonds we're born with", or something like that.
This is getting long. Bottom line is that there's no need for a specifically detailed past, nor is there for her to be grumpy and cruel since she lost her mommy and teacher in, somehow, a tag-team fight against a fox.

Spiderclaw

The. Basics.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Dipperfang

╭--------------------------------------------╮

╰--------------------------------------------

The. Basics.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hornet-tail
Picture belongs to Tumblr

╭--------------------------------------------╮
Image
╰--------------------------------------------

The. Basics.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Kin; Mother; Tansystream. (deceased) Father; Unknown. (deceased)
Appearance; A lovely golden she-cat with black stripes. She has stunning green eyes, and large canines.
Love. Life; No one
Strengths; Incredible at balance, she is also able to climb high heights to escape cats and predators.
Weaknesses; Her snappy personality can get in the way of being social with her clan mates; not to mention the fact that she isn't exceeding in anything besides balancing.
"Special". Ability; She's an average cat; she doesn't have any 'special' ability's, besides that she can balance precariously on high and thin objects extremely well.

Thank you! I'll fix Dipperfang when I can, but for now I can't, since I am busy!

QUICK QUESTION- Something that doesn't really make sense to me is that in warrior clan (I get it's fictional) wouldn't the cats not accept the newborn kits and very young cats? Because, suppose in real life you have three cats, and let's say they're all six years old, and you got them all at the same time, so they grow up together and get friendly towards each other. Now let's say you want a new cat, because they're soon going to be in the old ages. So you adopt a new kitten, and bring it home. In real life, the cats would most likely 'bully' it, and sometimes the cats will kill a new kitten that has been introduced and brought into their 'family', since the cats how all grown up togetehr since they were kits, they're all friendly towards each other; in real life, wouldn't this happen to a clan?

Good question, and one that will require a minute to answer properly, so I apologize preemptively for the long response.

Generally, cats meeting someone new are not so warm towards them than someone they've known for quite a while, though it greatly depends on the cat's personality (for example, when my dad and I moved into a new house with his girlfriend - 4 cats and 2 cats, respectively - three were friendly and peaceful, two refused to interact with the others other than hissing and hid outside or in a room, and one just jumped onto the couch, curled up, and ignored everybody until dinnertime). Cats are natural loners, and it can take them a long time to socialize or get used to a new presence. In a realistic book, the cats would probably not be in such large groups, or accept strangers, or even have connections to spirituality.

However, there's a special thing that writers use for animals in stories called anthropomorphism. What that means is that a human writer will take, say, a dog, and instead of making them like an actual dog, they give them traits that make them more human, like speech, critical thinking, and religion. In this way, you still have a dog, but they're more relate-able for the human reader. (The best anthropomorphism I've ever seen came from a book called Watership Down, which I recommend to all of you, though it does have some very intense/disturbing moments).

Can cats taste sweetness, or hunt carefully and not overwhelm their food source, or speak with their dead ancestors and receive signs and prophecies? Of course not. But with anthropomorphism they can. So, while a normal cat would reject a strange kitten, a fictional cat in a Clan would be happy to accept the newborn and give them somewhere to live and grow.

Hopefully that answers your question some.

{me back v.v,am dragonfeather changed my username }

Name: Starlingfeather
~Starling~ for her black pelt with white under-markings and muzzle-markings
~Feather~ for her great skills of stealth, especially in the trees.

Description: Starlingfeather is a just slightly smaller than the average sized cat. Her fur is thin, feathery, and medium length with a black main-pelt and white under-markings that cover her legs and her paws, not counting the slight smudges of black here and there, her chest, most of her face, excluding a black smudge on her nose, and her underbelly. You could say this kitty is in tuxedo fashion. Despite her fluff, it’s visible that Starlingfeather is lithe with a long body and tail, and a body built for stealth and cunning. Green irises give color to this black and white cat, adding to her slightly sneaky personality that comes with her abilities. Overall, this kitty’s appearance makes it easy for her to blend in with both the night and the day.

Important Notes:29 moons – she-cat

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Yellowtail
Yellowtail obtained the name yellowkit based on the sandy colored base of her tail. Her mother thought it stood out the most amongst her dappled coat. The basis for "tail" is because as she became a warrior, she was known for incredible sense of balance to her warrior duties, being able to master the way of the claw very quickly.

Description: Yellowtail is a dappled she cat, her colors a mixture of a deep chestnut brown and a
cream white base. She is of a larger build due with extremely powerful hind legs that give her incredible balance.

Important Notes: she-cat

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Blackstep
Black- His glossy short-haired back coat.
Step- He has a very long, proud, and powerful stride in his step.

Description: Black is a well built tom.His dark black pelt helps him with hiding in the shadows also for ambushing. His eyes are a piercing green/grey and at night it seems like two glowing forest orbs are in the dark. BlackStep is 90% black. He has a white splotch on his chest that sticks out giving him is handsome looks. This big cat has huge jet black webbed feet to help him travel through the marsh and to have a pretty good chance at hitting his opponent in battle.

Starlingfeather
Rate: 8/10
Type: Lyrical/Traditional
Reasoning: Starling- fits her perfectly, so we don't have to worry about that. But -feather has been hashed and rehashed over and over on this thread, so I'll give you the skinny: -feather doesn't work because cats do not have wings or feathers, and whatever -feather wants to say is said by another suffix. Calm, quiet cat? -cloud. Good at climbing? -tail (bonus for being a body part that a cat actually has).
And since she is good at climbing, we can easily switch her over to -tail.
Alternative Name: Starlingtail, for the reasons above.

Yellowtail
Rate: 8/10
Type: Traditional
Reasoning: Tails are, generally not suggested as a name base, mostly because it is shockingly easy to lose them to a particularly stubborn fox or have the crushed under a tree or boulder. She's a brown cat, which should be mentioned above her tail. Her suffix does work perfectly for her, though, so there is that.
Alternative Name: Ottertail/Brambletail. The two prefixes work for a brown tabby (Otter- for a darker one).

Blackstep
Rate: 8/10
Type: Traditional
Reasoning: I'm probably going to need to put up a thing about -step at this rate. Everyone's using it, and they're using it wrong in the context of traditionalism.
-step does not mean a powerful, proud stride. -step means that the cat walks like their prefix. That's why it's a rare name. Not a lot of cats named Larch- are going to hop around and make quick little movements of the head, nor are many called Lizard- the type to scuttle around, pause, stay perfectly still for quite some time, and then scuttle off again.
The rule with step is that it must fit the prefix of the cat. A cat can't really walk like a black, can they?
From some implications in his quick bio, I'm guessing that he's possibly a good fighter or a good hunter. I'm not sure. If he's good at both, then we can use -fang, but if he's not, then we'll have to stick with defaults.
Alternative Name: Blackfang/Blackpelt/Blackfur, for the reasons above. Only use -fang if he's both a good fighter and a good hunter. If he does well at neither, than don't use it.
