Good day, my name is shattered. I am an explorer who travels to many lands, befriending many types of different creatures. You are the first of your species you have come across, so i wonder if I am the first of mine. let me tell you a bit about myself. I travel the world looking for inspiration for my designs, you see i'm in training to build homes and design them. And when i'm not at training i'm out here, looking for new and wonderful things. Along the way I make friends and they follow and help me. Do you think you'd want to join me? I would be happy to have you come along with us, we could explore together.

A play I would take you to would be the tragedy Hamlet, one of Shakespeare's well known play scripts. An interesting tale with much to learn from. A tale of revenge, treachery and corruption. A play of many teachings is worth the time and life spent learning.

Why Alfred? Well, this Inklng is covered in Fleur-de-lis, purple is popularly associated with royalty, and Alfred is a fine, regal sounding name. It fits. Plus, I love Alfred Hitchcock, and I may or may not have been watching the Alfred Hitchcock Hour when I spotted this lovely inkling...

He's the quiet sort... With a dry wit.
When he open his mouth... Sarcasm ensues.
If there's a mirror... He's most likely looking at his reflection.
Give him ink... And he'll paint a masterpiece.
Give him other inklings... And he'll be at his wit's end.
Wrap him in silks... Fit for a king.
Shroud him in cotton... Only if you dare.
Free time is spent... With his nose in a book.
He likes to collect... Marbles in every color of the rainbow.

Would you like to play a game?

Defined as 1. A form of French poetry (appropriate, considering the Fleur-de-lis), 2. A type of dagger, and 3. A round piece of colored gelatin or glass placed over stage lights. This should give you a fair idea as to who I am. Rondell the CS user is a history major who also happens to love (and minor in) theatre, but who can't spell to save their life - 'Rondell' should only have one L, and I'm sure there are a few typos in this post because my internet browser's spell-check has died on me. I've never met an Inkling, but I have admired them from afar, and when I saw Alfred... well, I had to give it a shot - he's absolutely perfect. <3

I also have a couple of others living with me - Petruk, Geoffery, Lyonus, Jub-Jub - all very colorful characters who would love to meet Alfred. Perhaps he'd like to meet them?

Alfred and I would go to see a few plays by Plautus - a fairly signifigant Roman comedic writer who's responsible for The Swaggering Soldier, otherwise known as Miles Gloriosus, which is the play on which they based 'A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum', both a hit on Broadway and a popular film. I read many of Plautus' plays for school, and this one was my favorite. Even though it was written two thousand years ago, it still made me laugh, and I would love to see it performed somewhere.

All the world's a stage,

And one man in his time plays many parts

A charming dark purple Inkling walked over to me, and bowed his head slightly.
“Hello”, I chirp “and who might you be”
“I am Aristotle, named after the father of the theater.” Aristotle grinned, “And what’s your name?”
“Shadow Nima, not nearly as imposing as yours, it’s quite the name to live up too.”
“Well, I feel I am the perfect candidate for such a task.” At this time the Adoption director cam to greet me?
“would you be interested in adopting am inkling?’
“yes, and the charismatic Aristotle has already caught my attention. “

word is simple a symbol but I have come to respect these words. These
words are a scared thing and when used right they give us new meaning.
I think that by using this name I can help to make it great. I loved words
so much that a have learned English long before I was out up for re-homing.
As for the type of adopter I am looking for, I want one that is fun and
ready to have a blast doing something crazy

The first day I brought Aristotle I kept a close eye on him, wanting to make sure this fantastic little creature felt at home. He walked around looking in and around everything. I had not realized how little the critter knew and amazed at the detail he wanted. I watched my fish for a while pointing and asking about each fish in detail and began to name them. His eye for detail in the colors was amazing. He was able to tell even my Neon Tetras apart, even though they all looked the same to me. He soon had names for all of them. The only one I could find was Tips, the biggest on that was always a little behind it’s school.
“How can you tell them all apart?” I asked.
“It is easy for me, each one look so different from the other, I can see the uniqueness in each of their colors patterns.” He grinned. He only continued to watch them for a little while longer, because the cat jumped up to greet him. The impact for the cat on the back of the couch sent Aristotle over the other side. The white ball of fur then jumped down to nuzzle him.
“Do you live here alone?” Aristotle asked.
“well I live with dogs and cat, but it’s just me.” I answered
“Must be lonely.” He murmured.
“Not really, I go out a lot, I like to go shopping and to the parks with my friends and the dogs love to chase the ducks.” I smiled at him “What do you want for dinner, I can make some mean ramen.”
“What’s Ramen “ he asked perking up
“Poor college kid food, noodles and broth, that’s until I add everything.”
“Can we put carrots in it? I like carrots.” He asked timidly, I nodded, Aristotle liked his lips and headed off to the kitchen.
After dinner I gave him a bath and wrapped him up for bed. He snuggled deep into the mountain of pillows I had layed out for him. “Thank you, today was fun” he said quietly as he drifted off to sleep.

Something wicked this way comes

Aristotle was up bright and early the next morning. He helped me feed the fish and reminded me of their names. “even if I do go back, I want you to remember their names.” He explained. We did the morning dishes and cleaned ourselves up. turned out Aristotle liked morning walks as much my dogs and I did. He got super exited when we passed by the park, he pulled at my shirt “can we go and play over there? Pleeease?”
“Next time, we have to go to see our play don’t we?” I reminded him.
“we don’t have time to play?” he said trying to withhold the sadness in his throat.
“Not right now we will be late if we don’t head out soon.” Aristotle did not ask again but did look back once as we headed home.
It took 2 hours to get to the play house, and the place was packed. Seats were filling fast and I was happy that we had reserved seats. The Acting troop we had come to see was quite well known and they were preforming one of the best plays ever. At least I thought so. Aristotle had wanted to see a Shakespearean play and Macbeth was the coolest one out there to watch. Hamlet was awesome but easy to mess up. Romeo and Juliet was boring for a first time Shakespearean. Aristotle had said he wanted to watch a scary play at least a tragedy. He did not seem to be the biggest fan of the older comedies, and he had already agreed to watch Tartuffe with me next.
After getting in Aristotle was in winder at the size of the theater, the stage itself was almost as large as my house. that not saying much since my hose was a tiny two-bedroom. But it was all new to Aristotle. He wanted to stay and look at all the hanging tapestries and posters, but I hurried him along as he complained, “your always in a hurry I want to look at them.”
“We can look some more during intermission and we will be back this summer to see waiting for Godot.”
The auditorium was full of people, talking quietly almost themselves. Aristotle found our way to our seat with a couple of good helping hands. I had to book seat in the front because all the cheap ones had sold out. A full audience was a good sign. After that is was just a matter of waiting for the curtains to open up. We did not have to wait long. The room darkened and the lights went center stage. The lights flashed and lightning and thunder sounded, Aristotle was wide eyed in excitement as the dark figures of the witches strode out.
the lights went back up at intermission. Aristotle “It’s not done,” he said.
“Nope but it’s time for a brake. “ I replied “the actors need a rest, what do you think so far?
“I love it he exclaimed,” noticing the tone he covered his mouth. “it great I love all of the power play that seems to be happening and Macbeth is slowly losing it. Lady Macbeth is quite a character, it is so different from how I imagined it, can we see it again later?”
“I’d love too, but the magic of the play is that it changes every time. Every time is the first time for these actors and every troop see the play differently. This troop really likes to take the darkness of the themes to a whole new level shade. The productions the do around Halloween are exciting to watch, they always go all out on these dark plays.” We talked a little longer be for heading out to the restrooms,
The second half of the play went to fast for Aristotle. “I want more, but how sad that they all died though.” He frowned.
“It’s a tragedy, but Macbeth got what was coming to him. Sometimes trying to take power means you spend the rest of your life trying to keep it. We shuffled out with the cowered and headed home. The drive back took a little less time, and we got home by midnight. I took the sleeping Inkling in my arms and carried him inside to bed.

Image
"You see him as a saint. I'm far less awed;
In fact, I see right through him. He's a fraud."

The next day Aristotle slept in. he was wide awake by the end of my walk though. “
You left me behind,” he accused.
“I just figured I’d let you sleep, we were up late last night. How ‘bout breakfast to make up for it?”
He thought about it a moment and nodded, “only if I get extra bacon.”
We made a mess of the kitchen that morning. We burnt the eggs twice but the dogs did not complain. Aristotle had spilt pancake mix across the floor and the bacon we made was gone before breakfast was done. Aristotle had no complaints though, he seem to like spending quality time together and was having fun feeding the dogs. I giggled at the fact that he had started to call my dog Copper, Chomper after he chewing on Aristotle paws for bacon bits.
“What play are we going to see today?” Aristotle asked.
“Tartuffe” I replied.” The little theater in town is preforming it. I did it last year at the college and the director liked it so much he did it again this year. It is one of my favorite plays.
“The play starts at five so we have plenty of time to get ready.” Aristotle was content with that he played with the cat for a little while and watched the fish. Aristotle also broke out one of my old puzzles and did that for a while but gave up after putting the border together. All the while I caught up on some homework I had put off.
The Little Theater had none of the grandeur and twice the character of the auditorium of the city. It was covered in posters and hanging costumes of past plays while the small audience waiting stood outside the doors chatting away. “Did you every preform here?” Aristotle asked.
“Twice, both for modern plays, Billboard and five women wearing the same dress the casts I worked with had some of the funniest people every. Had a lot of fun on this stage, I’ll being trying out for a part this summer for a mystery play, kind of like the game of Clue.”
“What’s the Clue game?” he asked, I laughed at the question, though Aristotle did not find it as funny.
“Don’t worry about it so much, I have it home we can invite my sister over and play. Word of warning though she always wins.” Aristotle looked at me wondering if I was still making fun of him. “ I’m not trying to laugh at you, It’s just I keep using reference you don’t understand yet, and you were in the game cabinet digging out the puzzles. He then grinned slyly at me looking up from the corner of his eye. “what? Wait, you were just pulling my leg weren't you?”
“You’ll never know.” he smirked smugly as he walked in with the crowed.
We sat together near the middle this time. Find ourselves in a perfect seat to enjoy the show but Aristotle waited impatiently for the light to dim. The light did not dim like with the Macbeth play instead an old woman trudged out and began to complain to the cast. Aristotle watched and laughed with the crowed as the Con-artist Tartuffe tricked no one but the father Orgon. As the play continued so did the laughter. The maid made sarcastic remarks to the house hold, the daughter fought against the father arrangement, and the mother hid underneath a table to prove that this great priest that her husband had a man crush on was not so holy in the end. After the play had ended Aristotle clapped with everyone else and whistled and cheered. “I see why it is one of your favorite’s” that play was wonderful. Amazing really, I could watch that over and over again.”
“I’m glad you liked it, I have a dvd copy of Tartuffe at home you can watch if you ever get the inkling too” I blink at him. Aristotle cheered at the play on words and for the next few hours trying to rhyme every sentence like they did in the play. He truly had had a wonderful time and took me up on the offer to watch the dvd, he did not make it though however, he fell asleep and snored deeply with a smile on his face.
Image
Please Sir, may I have some more?

The next morning I was sure to wake Aristotle to go on my morning walk. “We can play at the park this time” he asked when the slides came into view. I gave him the go ahead and he dashed for the park. He happily played himself tired for an hour or so, running with the kids and playing with the dogs. Aristotle favorite had to be the rock wall he kept climbing up and down. He went up slowly and as fast as he could he jumped from ledge to ledge and tried to skip every other step in one go around. I was content to watch and he exhausted himself playing in the jungle gym. He returned to me after winning three games of tic tac toe in a row with kids. “ that was fun, but I think that the dogs want to finish their walk and eat.” Aristotle stomach growled as he spoke and cover hi tummy in surprise “guess I could eat some lunch too come to think of it.”
“I have the greatest craving for some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches myself” I said and headed off home Aristotle following behind me
“can we watch one more play today? I want to see another.” asked the little inkling “we have not seen a musical yet.”
“there aren't very many good old musicals, I thought you just wanted to watch the old ones.”
“I want to watch all of them, I have seen a few old ones now we can watch an more modern one, which would you like to see?”
“Well I don’t know of any that are playing but I have a copy of a musical I did in high school. Oliver Twist. It’s a famous one that every goo thespian knows. Willing to watch that one?” Aristotle nodded and ran to my cabinet to fin the disc. We put the disc in and I made popcorn. I then hide my face as the show started. Aristotle took great joy in embarrassing me when I was onstage. I did not play a big part or anything, I just felt like I had a squeaky voice because of the camera. Aristotle found me every time too. As the move ended he had curled up with a pillow and smiled at the happy ending. “That was a good story, he found his home in the end, and the mean bully guy got what he deserved. And you guys did a great job on the singing and dancing it must have been a lot of work to bring it all together like that. The guy how played Feigen was funny, it reminds me of the cartoon Oliver with the cat.” I took a great big yawn and slipped off the couch. I turned him to the bedroom and walked him down the hall. “Time for bed, can we go to the park again tomorrow? Or maybe the movies?” he asked, and then looked longingly at me, “maybe both?”
“We’ll see I replied, we’ll see.” I replied as I tucked him in to bed.

The wheel has come full circle.

With some consideration and looking over everyones forums, I have to say
Shadownima really put in some effort and went out of their way to get
art as well, showing who much they wanted this Inkling and I feel this
inkling will enjoy being by their side! Congrats!
