Spirits once roamed the material world, alongside mortals - there are stories and scrolls
of old heroes who defeated great evil with the aid of the spirits. Yet in time, man became
obsessed with glory and honour and power. They drove the spirits from the material world,
and locked them away permanently in the spiritual realm. For many years, man survived,
but they did not live. Eventually, the balance the spirits had made such an effort to
create and maintain began to deteriorate. In their desperation to aid the mortals, for they
knew not all of them had been corrupted, some spirits re-entered the material world and
whispered ideas into the ears of people they believed to be 'good'. These people had auras
that stood out from the corruption around them. There were many who were incepted with
ideas of a better world, but few put it all into action. Those who attempted to bring about
change sparked rebellions, and in turn, a war on a global scale.

That was supposedly fifty years ago. The war has raged on since then, something that
started out over a small bicker of land and borderlines. The aid nomads remain neutral,
as usual. The water tribes are set on protecting their homes and river claans within the
mainland, but people across the earth kingdom have become wary that 'the water tribes
are stealing our jobs, crops, and livestock'. The earth kingdom wants to become fully
independent again by driving out all the settled colonies. The fire nation want land other
than the barren wastes the majority of their population live off; upon their request for land
being denied by the earth kingdom, the fire nation resolve to taking the land themselves.
It seems that the Avatar is the only one who can restore balance, with the help of those
with good intentions and the spirits to lead them along the path.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════╗

1. All of the CS rules apply here. If you need a refresher, look over them again. Some
brief things that people seem to forget: you can't swear at all [although I believe some
minor 'swears' are permitted, they shouldn't really be needed anyway], romance can't
go further than a kiss on the cheek/forehead, and violence can't be described in any detail.
2. This is a literate roleplay. I expect 400+ words per character, per post. 400 words is
not a lot for a literate writer: in 400 words, you can forward the plot, describe the setting,
reflect on your character, and interact with others. A good standard of spelling, punctuation
and grammar is also expected, please.
3. Your posts do not have to be 'pretty'. I care more about the quality of the writing
than the coding. You are welcome to decorate your posts so long as they are within the CS
rules, of course. It is also easier for myself and fellow members if you tag other characters
in your post. You could also include location and current action, but just the tags would be
enough to help everybody out.
4. I don't take reservations, at all. Please do not post work-in-progress forms either.
The slots here aren't as limited as my usual roleplays, so there really shouldn't be a
problem anyway.
5. There will only be one Avatar, however, they can have companions. I don't mind
so much about genders so long as it isn't a 1:10 ratio or something of the sort. You
may play a 'villain' if you do so choose. There will also be minor characters of my own
creation available for roleplay to everybody who already has a character: these extras
will enable plot movement and interaction, and they will also let people post if their
current partner is unavailable for whatever reason. Regarding 'special abilities' such
as lightning redirection and bloodbending - please PM me before you go into detail
just so that I can be sure that we aren't ending up with a whole ton of 'special'
characters. These 'special' slots will have limits, so it's really first come, first serve.
It should go without saying, but no perfect characters - meaning, give your
characters realistic flaws and fears as well as strengths. You may have more than
one character, however, you may only have one 'special' character. You are welcome
to use 'face claims' so long as you remember to name the character and show the images
are from [remember, this has to be official art and not fan art as stated in the CS
rules]. On another note, please stay reasonably close to the setting and time: this
is an alternative universe sort of setting from the original series, in which the Avatar
isn't Aang or his predecessors/successors. That means that you can't write a canon
character, or be related to a canon character.
6. Regarding pets... I don't really mind what you take on, so long as you only have one
pet per character. It should be noted that air nomads seem to favour flying lemur
and sky bison; fire nation citizens can tame dragons, yes, but they are difficult to
train and even trickier to keep under a leash (plus they're expensive to buy and
keep). People from the water tribes seem to like elk and the like, and even a polar
bear dog can be tamed with the right character. The earth kingdom is teeming with
creatures, and there aren't really any special circumstances to those animals since
most are fairly easy to tame and train. It should be noted that pets should mainly
be from a character's region of origin [though not necessarily].
7. Spirits will not be uncommon, and they will be open for members to play. However,
even spirits have their limits. When writing them, please consider that their power
dwindles the longer they spend in the material world. Spirits can also give powers and
even life to characters in desperate need, but please check this with me through PM
beforehand.
8. The discussion thread will be located here [x]. Please take all OOC to that thread
rather than clogging up this one.

These rules may be changed or adapted with time.

Thalassa Hark hails from the Northern Water Tribe, where she lived until the war started. As Avatar, it is her responsibility to restore balance. Seventeen years old and shockingly wise for her age, Thalassa was the daughter of the Northern Chief until her died at the beginning of the rebellions in battle. He was a non-bender: she inherited her natural waterbending from her 'missing' mother. Although she is supposed to be mastering all four of the physical elements, Thalassa can only waterbend. Her lack of training in the other elements has left her 'stunted' in her way to becoming a full-fledged Avatar. She only discovered her Avatar status upon accidentally rupturing the earth during an argument over her to-be-arranged marriage. However, she has a strong spiritual connection, particularly with the north spirits with whom she communicates with through the northern lights. Tui and La have granted her the ability to heal with her waterbending, a gift she begged for upon her father's wounds festering. They didn't save him because they didn't want exposure to the material world as they felt their power would be abused, so they gave Thalassa her healing power. It wasn't enough.

Since her father's death two years ago, Thalassa has been living in the South, where her identity can be better kept. With aid from the teachers there, she has now mastered waterbending and healing. However, she has yet to find teachers to help her with the other elements. Now she has moved North again towards the mainlands to find said teachers. The Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom are totally unaware of her Avatar status, but the Air Temples are aware of her.

Intelligent and quick-to-learn, Thalassa is patient and can focus her attention and energy on any necessary task. However, she is very doubtful of her own abilities and feels that she isn't really cut out to be the Avatar. She's quite timid in strange surroundings and struggles to place alliances. When it comes to fighting, she uses defensive moves and doesn't pull offensive attacks if she can help it. Her loyalty, while difficult to gain, is resilient in that she has a strong sense of morality.

Rickon Fray, twenty-four years old and hailing from the Fire Nation, is a fire bender with a knack for firebending. Being the son of a nobleman, Rickon has been well tended to for his whole life, developing into quite a spoilt brat incapable of adapting to 'peasantly ways'. Stuck up, ignorant, and quick to hold an extensive grudge, he is sarcastic and blunt. However, he does hold respect for people who have a similar social status to himself, and as such appears completely different depending on who surrounds him. Under many circumstances, he clears a path for himself so that he can sit above everybody, but there is a rare occassion on which that is not the case. He holds true to his initial beliefs and is so narrow minded that his opinions seldom change, so of course he believes the Avatar - wherever they may be hiding - could potentially stop the Fire Nation from claiming land within the Earth Kingdom.

Unlike many firebenders, he actually can keep a leash on his temper. But on the other hand, he's avaricious and intent on getting his own way no matter the circumstances. Selfish and usually dominant, Rickon is slick and manipulative, taunting people into doing things that they normally wouldn't. His bending is fuelled by ambition and desire for power rather than anger, so that's why his fire can flicker to blue sometimes. However, without his bending he is practically useless in combat, but for his fists. He often underestimates people, leading to his own downfall. As he puts himself above others, he assumes that he is the most capable fighter out of everybody, but in fact, it is his ignorance that makes him strong physically but weak in regard to strategy.

He intends to marry into another noble family or even into Fire Nation royalty, where he can claim power for himself. Sly and cunning, he can wrap people about his finger with minimal effort through lies and deceit. People can be wary of him, though, and they have good reason. Rickon is not one to trust, but he is one to initiate into a plan if you need somebody willing to do whatever it takes.

Lady Colibri Rojo

Postby Ayashi » Fri May 16, 2014 9:45 am

Image
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
----Name meaning Red Hummingbird
----Nationally Fire Nation
----Date of birth August 10th
--- Occupation Noble Lady/Non-Bender
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Pronounced 'Coal - le -bri', this young woman is the second
daughter of the Rojo household, one of the ten Noble powers
in the land. Born in the fire nation boards in a sweltering
August morning, Colibri is rather pale skin than the sunny
tan that most of her family have. Her skin burns rather easily,
which is why she is often seen carting a large purple paper
umbrella with her, which was a gift from her elder sister,
Alondra. As a lady of higher upbringing, Colibri is well educated in many subjects such as literature, science, can play the
flute, sing (though she claims to sing very ill) and can speak two languages. Colibri has a rather large family for nobility,
being the eldest of three siblings, all girls like she, the youngest being fifteen. When she turned nineteen, and her older
sister just married, Coblibri had wished to see the world before she was married and forced to settled down with her
future husband and prepare for future children. Three months after her sister's wedding Colibri was off, heading for the
Earth kingdom as her first stop. The outgoing woman fell in love with the rolling green hills and natural elements that
seem to surround this great kingdom. But despite this wondrous land Colibri continued her travels, secretly planing her
future home in the great Earth Kingdom. In next stop was the Water tribe, towards the north too see the great Northern
Lights that claimed it's home in the frost cover sky. And there she meet the newest, and inexperience Avatar, Thalassa Hark.

All hope was fading,
Despite her age and pale physique, she possesses a strong will and is highly influential amongst the Houses of the nation. Although a lady of high ranking Colibri has always been known as a compassionate woman. Kind to strangers, caring to both animals and children, and considerate of those less fortunate that herself, Colibri understand that while the world maybe viewed in, black and white , until you understand the situation as it whole it is simply grey
A darkness far beyond their might,
Colibri is quite a wise woman for her age in not only mannerism, but also socially outings and conversations, being able to hold topics of the world or personal interest. Her few weakness in these subjects however are 'political', (She rather give them a good smack than talk) 'Ethics' and 'Technological advances'(all thoughs explanations with parts and what does what makes her dizzy).
But love came crusading,
Despite being unmarried at her age, she is quite deceptive of certain situations, such as what to look for in a man, how a lady should act and speak, and raising children. However, Colibri does not believe in 'sprites', 'ghosts', or 'phantoms', believing them to be old wives tales. Currently Colibri is the only patron of the current, and experienced, Avatar.
On the wings of healing sacrifice
