I laughed. "Well, what do you expect from a stove that's been abandoned for five years?" I found the veggies and put them ont he worn counter. I found a slightly dirty, but usable pot in the cabinet and filled it with water. I turned on the stove to a middle temperature and put the full pot on top of the hot surface. After about 10 minutes it began to boil. I put int he veggies and chopped up the chicken into tiny peices. I put the chicken into the pot with the veggies. I stirred it with a chipping wooden spoon. After a while, the soup began to thicken. "It's ready!" I smiled. The temperature would've been easier if I knew how to read. I could read a little, but not much since my parents had been killed and schools were shut down. I found a few bowls that werent cracked. I put the extra ones into the cabinet and poured some soup into the last two. There was still leftover soup. I finally found some spoons and put them in the bowls. I handed one to Graze. "It would probably taste better with some seasoning, but I couldn't find any."

He stood by watching her with interest, he'd tried cooking before but always failed. "Seasoning..oh!" He held up a hand to signal he'd be right back and literally jumped out the window, reappearing seconds later with something in his hand. "Neighbor had these, I know we're they keep them and they won't be home until late so here." He handed her the small bundle of seasonings, not much but better then nothing.

I was still a heartbeat away from heart attack from when he jumped out the window. I took the seasonings and sprinkled some of each into my hands. One of them was salt, the white one. I sprinkled a little bit into each bowl and then had to taste the two black seasonings to find pepper. I sprinkled just a pinch into each bowl. The smell of the soup slowly began to strengthen. I was surprised my mouth wasn't watering.
