Shadow! :'D

Sounds like it was the stress to me. As long as you let the tank cycle any new fish you get should be fine.
(also, if you want more platies PM me; I have a bunch of babies that will end up being sunfish food eventually XP)

Material force moves and flows in all directions and in all manners. Its two elements unite and give rise to the concrete. Thus the multiplicity of things and human beings is produced. In their ceaseless successions the two elements of yin and yang constitute the great principles of the universe.

What do you mean by messed up? Guppies rarely fight, and all males usually get along quite well. If it looks like it's been nipped then it could be fin rot (which many fancies are prone to), in which case I would just monitor it and make sure to keep the filter clean and do weekly water changes.

Went to the pet store the other day, and I saw a Guppy. It's back was like, bent all the way. It looked like a V. I was thinking that maybe I should start a tank (with dividers of course) for fish that wouldn't have a chance in the pet store. Is that a good idea?

Its much more humane to euth fish like that. Also, a very contagious illness can cause a bent spine.
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

Sorry, but I don't think so. All it does is give money to the people who allow the fish to be in that condition. I've had to learn this the hard way, unfortunately. Buying sickly fish will only teach the pet store that they can keep animals in this condition and still make a profit.

Agreed. If you see one ill fish with a bunch of well kept ones it most likely has a disease (inform the store workers), and if you see a bunch of sick fish you don't want to give the store owners money.

The only exception would be crippled fish that are healthy otherwise. I bought a one-eyed fish about 2 years ago and he's extremely healthy. I think it was a birth defect.

But buying sick fish can get your own fish (or even you) sick, and is a relatively bad idea.

I see your point...Well, is it okay if I ask for the fish for free?
