Limited # of newborns you can adopt

I really like this new thing, but it is bittersweet for me. I did not delete any duplicates so I have no problems which makes me happy, but i know that with my luck I won't get a single rare. I was just think about this the other day, because people really have no fun when they trade because they adopted a bazillion of all the pets and don't need any. No rares=no fun.

I think it took Tess to explain this whole thing to me. I was somewhat upset beforehand, because I really wanted to get my first rare (by adopting multiple pups), and suddenly it was blocked from me. it was like I'd just run into a brick wall. now that someone's explained it from a standpoint I can understand, I suddenly get it. the ban's a great idea--Tess mentioned earlier she might increase it, but I say DON'T DO IT. we need a tight lock to run a tight ship, now that people are forced to regulate their adoptions this site will be much more under control. structure builds harmony, which builds happiness. it can take some time for some people to get used to it, but after the first few weeks they'll be cool with it. I'm looking forward to the next few months when rares will be rare--go Tess!

I'm happy that the numbers are being limited. It will make trading a bit more fun now.
I'm unhappy with the fact that the restriction is in place and the %s of getting each pet is not 'normal' right now. (1/132 instead of 1/10)
It also kind of sucks that there was no warning at all beforehand. Meaning those that got pets and deleted them can no longer get any. Such a thing should have been posted before the restriction was placed!

Yeah, I'll reset the probabilities for the adoptables later when the admin panel is working properly for me..

I agree it's annoying and messed up to do this halfway through a month but from now on, e.g. any further adoptables I add in november, and for all the future pets, this system will be fairer.

Also, don't worry, I won't be deleting past pets, this restriction only affects new adoptions.

I like the idea, both for Cs and for myself. The amount I was adopting was stupid, and I must have adopted over 100 dogs last month...

Though I only got 1 watermelon dog in the whole batch XD

I have to say I am happy this has been put in place. I have seen other peoples pet pages where the list of all the other pets has been stupidly long. And stacks with the same names too, they have so many and half of them are going to be deleted anyways. People end up with 10 of what is supposed to be rare and I think it is unfair for users like me who usually only adopt 3-5 pups.
Also I think there should be a rule about newborns for adoption from other users. I saw a page once where there were like 20-30 cards newborns and I think why do that when you can simply adopt them straight from the site? 2nd-gen newborns I can see being fine, since they are already different and some rarer than others but the ones that must grow to change should not be adoptable from other users.

This change does make sense, but makes it lot harder for me, just having joined a couple of days ago.
Since I don´t have a stock build up for tradings, it´ll be extremly difficult for me to ever put my hand on a rare puppy, that I didn´t happen to adopt by myself. On the other hand I can understand, why this change took place. It is very reasonable, but rough to new players.

But coming to another effect: Since it won´t be that easy anymore just to adopt more pets, the ban about trading newborns should be reversed. The reason for that ban was, that it was nonsense to overfloat the trading board with newborns, which could be easily adopted just from the system.

From now on it won´t be possible anymore just to adopt another one (or hundreds of newborns), so trading with newborns should be enabled again.

Personally, I think it's a good idea. So many people were running around, stock piling on pets and deleting duplicates just so they could get rares. This isn't a card game where you can just buy a whole lot of cards and eventually get what you're looking for. It's a game of chance, and in the end everyone should be happy they are getting anything at all. The more you adopt, the more pictures are loaded, and the more Tess has to pay for the site. I believe people should just be greatful that Chicken Smoothie is here at all. Nothing is coming out of our pockets yet we are benefiting from the provided fun through the joy of having these pets and geting to trade with others who might not have been so lucky.

Sure, I'm guilty of going back and adopting more than a few, but I wasn't deleting the ones that I assumed might not be rares. Heck! I didn't even know you could delete pets until I read the November thread and people were talking about deleting. Had a blonde moment when I did not know what they meant, but I finally caught on. -palmface- (Note; This isn't meant to be insulting to anyone. Just voicing my opinion and the truth. If anyone gets offended, I am sincerely sorry. It wasn't my intention.) Why delete the extras? Why not keep a hold of them and if in the end they grow up in duplicates and you don't want them, hand them over to the pound or trade them for the people who want them.

I will admit, part of me is a little devastated by the limit, but I can definitely live with it. It's nothing to be upset or angry about.

yeah I'm thinking that now, it makes much more sense to trade newborns xD people who don't want all 10 can give their spares away, or whatever

this is all very rough-and-ready as the new limit has just been thrown into CS, so I guess things will smooth out in a week or so when rules have changed and the probabilities updated

I'll consider lifting the limit to 15, so that people DO have SOME spares for future trading (for those new members who missed, etc) me and Nick didn't have much discussion before the limit was placed, and now we're seeing it in practice I see your point about the way less people will be willing to trade if they don't have ANY duplicates.

anyways, I'm glad some of you can see why I put it the limit in place and agree that it's a good idea, I think most of you will come to agree eventually when you see it properly put in place. It's just a bit shocking at the moment, because you're USED to the idea that you have to adopt 100 pets to try and ensure you get them all. You're USED to the crazy probabilites which have been getting stricter every month.

Tess, I just wanted to say thanks for considering raising the limit to 15 pets. But I also wanted to say I completely understand the limit - plus, we don't want you to have to pay millions for something you provide for free for us either. ^^ Keep up the great work

I like the limitation of ten pets per type.
Now I have to look after the light green 2nd gen. Hope I'll get one.
In every case, trading will become much more funny and important.
