HorseLover! wrote:The only pet store around here is Pets and Home and they are rubbish, we have like a few small ones but they don't really like hamsters, mostly dogs, cats and fish. I live up north- like way up near scotland and it's basically empty D:
Will have to look around for big cages though- I don't really like the idea of a bin cage as they don't look nice to me haha.
I'm a bit further south, and the nearest to me is the Pets at Home ^.^ When I go to college there's a few small businesses too but they're mostly for dogs and cats xD
I'd look online if I was you: I do that anyway.

Orion's wheel doesn't squeak really, and when it does it tends to be quiet.
It might be an idea to invest in some ear plugs though: for the first week Orion kept waking me up: I think the worst was five times during the night x3
Just make sure the wheel isn't too small: continued and prolonged use can result in the curving of the spine. Flying Saucers are pretty cool and stop that curving. I've just bought one for Orion and it should come in the next week!
What type of hamster have you asked for? Syrians are bigger and easier tamed, but have to be kept alone. Dwarves can be kept together but may need to be separated. Hekomi is a great person to ask about dwarves, or hamster is general. She's got four and is getting a fifth
jealous
Thanks so much!
I have asked for a Syrian, I had one ages ago and wanted another one for ages. I have been reading and watching and researching for ages. It's just that there isn't much hamster stuff around here if i'm honest. The UK isn't good for Hamsters where I live haha.
Order it online from zooplus. The barney cage is actually on sale right now and I hear it's a GREAT cage.
http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_pet ... ges/189303Lots of space.
The UK has many, many, MANY more resources than Canada and the USA for hamster.
I'd also recommend finding a breeder in your area and getting the hamster from there. I can help provide you with a list of UK breeders from the hamster site I go on. That way you're ensured quality, from health to temperament and a great pet overall. :)

We having a Smoothians of the UK gathering? XD
Yorkshire if pretty good for pet shops.. Though, contrary to popular belief, Pets At Home is waay better than little local places.
My two nearest P@H's are actually two of the best pet shops I've ever come across (And I literally go in every pet shop I come across, wherever I am in the country)
Anyway, I will try and have pics of my new hammie tomorrow. Usually, I use Pinterest to upload stuff and then link it, but this laptop wont let me use Pinterest. So I'll have to find another way.
I have a question for rat people:
My boys are sneezing quite alot.
They're not wheezy, their eyes/nose are clear, and there isnt any porphyrin on either of them.
Any ideas what could be up?
*EDIT* Hekomi, could you send me that list too? Although I've sworn off hams from anywhere than one of my local P@H's, I'd still be interested to see if there actually is any breeders near me, just in case I change my mind.
I've never been able to find any though.

oooooo: Exciting
We keep thinking about getting a friend for the pig. But if they didn't get along it'd have nowhere to live other than outside D:
You cannot eat love, nor buy a horse with it, nor warm your halls on a cold night

For squeaky wheels we use Olive oil, but since we got a wooden rat wheel for Momo there's no need for it as it's quiet. c:

That's the wheel we've got, it's brilliant for Syrian hamsters. c: It's best to normally go a size up - Syrian stuff from P@H is normally too small and rat toys work better. Momo's poor back was cramped in the 'Syrian hamster wheel' he had before.
