Ghostflight ran after them, then stopped. Why was she running? Kicking off, she took to the air.

Kestrelstar twitched and convulsed on the ground as the silver wire pinched ever tighter around his throat. "Creek...hel'...me..." he gasped.

Creekstorm stared at him icily but made no move to help.

Timberfoot had already reached Creekstorm and Kestrelstar before Ghostflight had even lifted off and was now attempting to release his leader from the trap.

Creekstorm's gaze shot to Timberfoot. He glared at the tom in a mixture of fury and confusion. "What-"

Timberfoot hissed for Creekstorm to be quiet and continued to fiddle about with the snare.

Kestrelstar's sides heaved with exhaustion and his eyes were as round as moons, yet they looked glazed and blurred, as if he wasn't fully conscious or couldn't quite see properly. A puddle of blood had pooled around his neck.

Creekstorm slapped Timberfoot's paw away and stood over Kestrelstar, bristling.

Ghostflight hissed aaa she landed. "You!" She snarled, leaping at Creekstorm.

A growl rose in Creekstorm's throat and he fell to the ground. "Get off of me, you freakish she-cat!" He slashed at her muzzle and pushed her off of him so that he could stand up.

Kestrelstar's breath came in short, heavy gasps.

Timberfoot yanked at the wire, but that only made it tighter. "I can't get him out!" he wailed in despair. He was no longer faking his worry but actually feeling it.

Mousewhisker had heard the commotion and saw what was happening. She was frozen in place as she watched wide eyed.

Ghostflight growled at him before joining Timberfoot. "We have to dig!" She mewed, thrusting her paws into the ground.

[Cradily]

Timberfoot dug as fast as he could.

Creekstorm lunged for Ghostflight and clawed at her face. "Get out of my way!"

Ghostflight hissed and whirled around, slashing at his muzzle, her cheek stinging.

[Cradily]

Timberfoot kept digging. StarClan, forgive me! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!

Creekstorm snarled and bit into Ghostflight's ear.

A spasm shook Kestrelstar's body and then he lay still, momentarily lifeless.
