"Hi ..." The boy shook Mr. Grin's hand once, continuing to speak first to Mr. Grin then to Ellie herself. "Hi to you too, Mr. Grin, I- I'm Daniel. What's your n- name?"

Ellie looked at the boy's blushing face curiously, her own pinkish cheeks fading back to their usual pallour. The hint of a smile on her face broke into a wide grin when he spoke, glad he didn't think her strange or shy away from talking to her at all. She liked how he acknowledged Mr. Grin too. He was a funny boy, this boy who stuttered when he spoke. But maybe he was just nervous. Ellie didn't dislike him, anyway.

"Ellie," She replied, smiling back. He had a nice name, one that was rather classic but not that widely used nowadays. He also did have interesting eyes - lively ones that seemed to speak more than his words did. Ellie knew her real name was Eleonora: Ellie-oh-nor-ah. She decided that 'Ellie' suited her better anyway, just Ellie. It was the name of the girl who was Mr. Grin's friend anyway, in that Disney film she loved to watch. Ah, what was it... Ellie in Wonderland! Yes, that was it... Just then, Ellie blinked when she realised she had been drifting off in thought again and almost completely forgotten she had been talking to Daniel.

"Ah, Daniel... Are you excited about school? I've never been to a real school or met anyone besides my parents, actually... I was home-schooled." She turned pink again when she said this, feeling a bit embarrassed to admit this. "But it's really nice! To see so many other kemonomimis around, and some normal humans too. Like that little man who brought everyone in," She finished with a giggle. Petting Mr. Grin on the head, Ellie held him up and handed him over to Daniel. "Do you want to hug him for a while? Mr. Grin's really good at helping people feel less shy. I'm okay now so you can try," Ellie sounded bolder than she really felt now. Daniel looked really nervous, and that was the best she could do to ease him up a little.

Daniel's smile reappeared as she introduced herself. "Ellie ... that's a really nice name ..." he said and looked from the toy to her, slightly more relaxed now. He'd actually gotten through a sentence without stuttering or saying something stupid. When she asked him about his thoughts on school and remarked on it herself, his face slightly fell. "I'm not sure whether I like it yet or not ..." he responded in a quiet, gentle voice. "I'm not very fond of humans due to ... past experiences. But the kemonomimi community seems nice, I agree." He looked at her again and gave another small smile.

Then she surprised him by handing him the toy she was hugging previously.

"Do you want to hug him for a while? Mr. Grin's really good at helping people feel less shy. I'm okay now so you can try," she said. He cocked his head to the side and reached out to take it, then held it in his lap and looked at the toy. He smiled as he looked up at Ellie again and turned Mr. Grin so he faced her as well. "I would, but I'm not sure if he wants to be hugged by me," he said and smiled a bit more. "I'm still someone you both just met, after all." His eyes were still gentle and docile, like a doe's, but there was a hint of playfulness in them now as well. He couldn't help but like Ellie's approach. She had the innocent, gentle demeanor of a child, and she'd even reached out and spoken to him kindly, without any hint of prejudice -- something not very many people did.

"Ellie ... that's a really nice name ..." Daniel complimented Ellie's name, making her smile embarrassedly. He then continued to talk about how he felt coming here for school, his face giving away an expression of uncertainty. "I'm not sure whether I like it yet or not ... I'm not very fond of humans due to ... past experiences. But the kemonomimi community seems nice, I agree."

Ellie wondered why he felt uncomfortable with meeting humans - she herself was more fascinated and excited to see what they were like, more than anything else. But she knew there had to be a reason her parents homeschooled her. Sure, they were the sort of people who would do things on a whim, but such a big decision like homeschooling a child had to have some rationale behind it. Maybe it was to prevent her from experiencing bad things with the humans, just like Daniel probably had. Or was she thinking too much into things again? At any rate, Ellie felt lucky to have grown up in a sheltered environment, even if it meant this was the first time she was making friends. She didn't have any significantly bad experiences with people - she could trust people easily because everyone she met so far was really nice.

"Yeah, it does! I haven't exactly talked to anyone other than you, but it was nice how everyone clapped when the girl... ah, Clowesia, came in... her name's really pretty, by the way. It's the name of a sort of orchid... I like flowers..." Ellie was already drifting off into her mind's world by this time, and she saw a garden of beautiful flowers unfolding before her. She was about to run towards the flowers and bask in their beauty when she realised she had done it again - she had let her mind distract her from reality. She wasn't going to make any friends this way, Ellie realised and scolded herself mentally.

"I would, but I'm not sure if he wants to be hugged by me. I'm still someone you both just met, after all."

The boy took Mr. Grin and turned him around to face Ellie when he said this. "Ah, no no no! Mr. Grin loves hugs. All soft-toys do, really. It's why they were born - for people to hug. That's why I love them so much. I like hugging things," Ellie giggled. "Don't you think hugs are great? They can make you feel happy and loved no matter how bad you feel before hugging," she continued. She hoped Daniel shared her views because it really was the best thing, a hug. Sometimes Ellie felt sad for no reason and it would bother her to no end, then her mother would come along with a hug and she would feel much, much better. She missed her parents, especially her mother. Even if it had only been one day since she had last seen them, she had never been away from home before... Ellie didn't realise that her ears were drooping slightly when she felt loneliness wash over her for a moment.

It was one of the ways he functioned, remembering what people liked and disliked, and then acting accordingly. "I like flowers, too," he said and smiled. It was true; he had liked them ever since he had been a small boy. His parents would often take him and his brother for outings then, to forests and meadows and such, to learn about plants and animals. He loved those outings, since he could run and play with his brother all he wanted, feel the tall grass tickle him all over as he ran through it, and fill his lungs with all the fresh, clean air he could inhale.

He was daydreaming, he knew, and it took Ellie's response to his statement about Mr. Grin to bring him back to reality.


"Ah, no no no! Mr. Grin loves hugs. All soft-toys do, really. It's why they were born - for people to hug. That's why I love them so much. I like hugging things. Don't you think hugs are great? They can make you feel happy and loved no matter how bad you feel before hugging," she said. He smiled again and nodded. "Yes, hugs are fantastic," he said and gave Mr. Grin one. It really did make him feel better. His smile grew a bit bigger at that realization, but then he noticed Ellie's ears drooped a bit. He looked at her for a moment. He contemplated giving her a hug, but when he realized what he was thinking, he blushed and just simply handed her Mr. Grin again. "P-perhaps you should hug him again. You seem sad ..." he said, looking at the ground. Great. The stuttering was back.

((Hopes it's okay that I did the same kinda thing to start my RP that you did Clowesia. A lot of people have posted and I honestly don't think Mariah would've sat still for this long. xD))

Mariah Whiteside

"You need to go off and explore and make more friends like you!" The words from her mother repeated over and over in Mariah's head and an angry scowl was placed on her face as she though. What did her mother know? The one person who kept herself and secret and never spoke of her 'beloved' daughter. Where were her friends just like her? Oh, right, no where. So, why, if her mother didn't have to go and make friends, did she? She was doing fine in the other school! Sure there were a few fights.. Well, okay, more then just a few, but still! The kids deserved it there! Of course, she had been kicked out. Mariah hadn't thought of that and she did now as she stood outside of the ugly, run-down looking house in front of her. What kind of person in their right mind would go to some place like this?

The angry scowl was still on her face when she heard a voice nearby. Her long rabbit ears immediately drooped and her scowl fell away. Sure she was a great fighter with kids her own age, but adults were... scary. "Ah yes, you must be Mariah. That one.. Rabbit thing. Your parents dropped you off, yes?" Mariah barely nodded and let her thoughts drift back to her as this person introduced himself and told her about the 'school' she was to attend.

With barely any notice from Mariah she was led to a room to put her stuff down then into a another room. Only this one had students in it. Her ears perked up again and she raised a brow. So she was to make friend with this lot, eh? As she looked around she picked up a boy and a girl talking off in the corner and several people around another girl. A ram girl. The thought struck Mariah with confusion but she simply stood her ground and watched with narrow eyes. She fixed her glasses and ran a finger over her a few of the piercings on one of her ears. Pacing over to an empty table she sat on the table top with her feet resting on the bench. When she looked back she noticed that the small, pudgy guy who had led her here was gone.

Mariah was ultimately abandoned in this world of people just like her. How would she go about with this one? The challenge rang in her ears as she drummed her fingers in a small pattern on her knee.

Zach noticed another kemonomimi come through the door and sat down at an empty table. She'd attracted some attention, but people were pretty much busy socializing amongst themselves to welcome her like they did Clowesia. "Strange. Didn't the little guy say that Clowesia was going to be the last one today?" he thought, but that didn't stop him from getting up and walking over to her table to introduce himself. As he came closer, he noticed she was drumming her fingers on her knee. "Must be nervous, or something ..." he thought, then grinned and waved to her. "Hi there! My name's Zach, what's yours?" he asked and leaned on the table opposite her, still standing, ready to leave if she didn't want to speak to him.

[Clowesia]

Clowesia gave a docile blink as Zach scuttled off to the new girl that had slipped through the door. Puffing her cheeks out like an insolent five year old, Clowesia noticed he hadn't even given a gesture of goodbye. 'He must have taken it upon himself to be the welcome party for everyone.' The thought left Clowesia slightly embarrassed and riddled with shame, 'He probably didn't want to be my friend or anything, my scent must have agitated him and he just wanted to see if I'd be a threat up-close.' Clowesia thought, explaining the situation to herself. With a short second of intense self-loathing, Clowesia quickly sucked the overwhelming emotions down into her body before she shot Alex a look, a cheeky grin on her face.

"We've been ditched~" Clowesia finished, snickering, obviously still finding humour in the situation. "It was nice to seem him go, though." Clowesia finished with a saucy wink, having finally relaxed enough to show off her true colours as a weirdo.

Zacharias
A notion shot through Zach; he'd left without a word, too keen on getting to know everyone. He shot Clowesia and Alex a look that said: "I'm really sorry!" and made a quick motion towards where he and the girl were, so as to invite them over. He hoped they wouldn't hold a grudge against him. "Idiot ..." he thought at himself before turning his attention back to the girl and grinned, still waiting for her response.

(( I found the new layout a tad confusing ... I reloaded the site after maintenance and I went like: "omgwtf?!" xD))

Alex glanced away from Clowesia as the door opened again, revealing a rabbit-eared girl standing in the doorway. Alex followed her motions as she walked over to an empty table after glancing around the room and put her feet up on the table. She drew her attention away from the new girl after that so as not to be rude to Clowesia or Zach.

She would greet her later. But as she was about to reply to Zach's comment, he got up and went over to introduce himself to the new girl. Looking at Clowesia, she thought she saw an odd look of shame and embarrassment cross her face, though when she looked again, Clowesia's expression had changed as she shot Alex a look with a grin on her face. 'Odd...must have been my imagination' she thought. But Alex flashed a big smile in response to Clowesia's irresistible cheeky grin. Despite the girl's unusually large size and odd traits even for a kemonomimi, she found Clowesia quite attractive...both in looks and in personality. Alex got jolted from her private thoughts when Clowesia said that they had been ditched and snickered a bit. At that unexpected and humorous comment, Alex couldn't help chuckling a little.

Clowesia's next comment was her saying that it was nice to see him go, punctuated with a saucy wink aimed at Alex. She was glad that she had finally relaxed and had begun to open up a bit, and Alex had to admit that she was liking this sheep-girl better by the minute. 'But does she like me?' she wondered privately. She knew that she could not answer that question so she let it escape her mind.

Alex laughed when she saw Zach turn around and shoot them an apologetic look before waving them over to join him. He had obviously heard their remarks, and Alex found that particularly humorous for some reason...maybe because she was already feeling quite elated from meeting Clowesia. She flashed him a crooked grin and held up a finger to tell him they'd be over in a moment. She turned back to Clowesia with laughter still dancing in her blue eyes, making them shimmer brilliantly. "You wanna go over there?" she asked casually, as if it didn't really matter to her. In reality though, it did. As much as she would like to greet the new arrival, she was rather enjoying the one-on-one time between her and Clowesia and she really didn't want it to end.

Clowesia gave a shrug, quite befuddled by Zach's action, first he's friendly, then he just walks off, then he was inviting them over! It was a bit much for the socially stunted sheep to handle. She gave a slight tug on her horn, before she shot Alex a grin. Standing up, she loomed even more over the prostate Alex, before she rested her hand on the girls shoulder. "Might as well go over, got nothing else better to do." She finished, closing her eyes as she gave a friendly smile. She couldn't help but spare Alex's hair a passing glance, it was an unusual for Alex's kemonomimi colouring. But then, Clowesia didn't know if white hair on black leopards was an unusual thing for the species, she'd never asked on before. She'd have to try and find a book on feline kemonomimi's sometime.

Looking away for a second, Clowesia cleared her throat, her free hand coming up to scratch the back of her neck. "You have pretty hair." She said, her mothers advice of "Every girl likes compliments, it's a good way to get on good terms with them!" Echoing in her ears. Not bothering to give Alex a second to respond, Clowesia cut in again. "Come on, she better head over." With a final pat on Alex's shoulder, she turned and faced towards Zach, waiting for Alex to get up. Out of the corner of her eye, however, she spotted a Stag, a Bunny and a cat toy. 'Oooh~ So adorable~' Clowesia couldn't help but coo mentally at the younger kemonomimi, her motherly instincts swelling.
