If so, how did he become tainted?:(Sorry, I'm still a little vague on the process but here's a sob story)
He was in charge of a little girl. This little girl had terrible nightmares but like always he would chase them away. Hallow became very attached to this little one, she was a very lonely child. Her nightmares kept getting stronger and stronger she became weaker mentally and more tormented by them, and other kids. On her way back from school she took a shortcut near a creek. Some of the kids that bullied her, took turns pushing her and pulling her hair. She accidentally fell in the creek, and Hallow could only watch and hear her cries as the other kids ran off in a panic. The one thing that is burned into his tormented mind is when she was just about to go unconscious she looked up at him and he heard in he head 'Am I going to die'
He now became tainted and spread nightmares to torment, just as she was tormented.

If so, how did he become tainted?: Undertaker was born out of a nightmare one night when she was chasing a minor nightmare away from the child she was protecting. After the tainted part of her took over that night Undertaker enjoyed the feeling of darkness and decided to torment younger children as they slept through the night, Nightmare can still be seen in a dark cloud of dreams as she walks through the night leaving nightmares in her wake.
