Has anyone ever had one? And would it be ok with platies?
No, since platies are tropical and goldfish aren't. Dakotak could give probably you some really detailed info on keeping one though, if you wanted to. Or if you wanted platies I could give you advice on that c:

oh, well i guess i was miss lead, the guy at the pet shop said that i could fit about 2-3 fish in my tank
You said it was a seven gallon right? You will be able to fit a few very small fish in there, probably a small school of fish.
You could get a single betta fish, and they'd love a tank that size!
If you choose the right fish you could fit a few fish in that tank, but you can't just choose any fish.
The small tank is likely the reason why the goldfish is killing the other fish too, he's already in too small a space so doesn't want competition. If you get a tank the right size for him the aggression should go away.
There's a lot of incorrect information out there about goldfish, especially at pet stores, so don't feel too bad about it. c:
Oh and thanks Dakotak for the advice! I'll try and reduce the lightning and increase water changes and I'll see if that fixes it. The tank uses natural lighting though so I'll just have to cover the tank up for longer.
Thanks c:

Ok so tomorrow I'm going shopping for my lovely Betta I named Phish! I'm getting a larger tank and possibly a better filter! Along with maybe a catfish or 2! And was wondering what would be recommended to get also? Or what sized tank or type of catfish recommended also would a loach be better than a catfish or...?
I was a toxic 11-13 year old lol.

Florida is full of feral fish. I just got enough Mayan cichlids to add to our Oscar tank so our tank does not look empty and devoid of life lol. We got one tilapia, one bream(not non native but legal to keep) and four mayan cichlids to stock the tank. All of these fish will get big but take years to get too big for this tank. I will post pictures soon.

What do you mean "feral fish"? Like they are in your ponds and streams and stuff?

Yes. They are fish that were released and started breeding. These "feral" fish are designed for the new environment and would die if put back into their original habitat. Lets use an Oscar for example. In south America Oscar cichlids grow to be 18 inches long, but in florida, the feral Oscars only grow to be 8 inches long and have a different pattern. It is the same as feral cats and dogs.

I had a nightmare scenario yesterday.
I left my apartment on Friday morning for a short visit to my family for Easter. After doing water changes and my weekly tests on both my tanks (10 and 20 gal), I left. When I returned Sunday night, to my horror, my 10 gal divided betta tank had less than an inch of water in it.
Quickly, my roommates moved my desk back to see where the water had gone while I desperately searched for my fish. To my amazement, all three of the bettas housed in that tank AND my mystery snail are alive and fine, which is the main thing I care about! I did loose some plants since they were without water for quite some time, and I’m going to need a new tank.
I feel incredibly guilty about what’s happened. Although the water didn’t go through the ceiling of the apartment below us, it completely soaked the wood and carpet on my floor. We pulled back the first layer of carpet and have had fans and towels on it all night. I can only hope the carpet doesn’t mold.
My family doesn’t support my fish keeping hobby and I was seriously considering getting a third tank later this year, because I don’t like the idea of housing 3 bettas in my 10 gallon at all. Now I think my fish just might have to wait. I can’t risk this ever happening again, and I’m SO fortunate it wasn’t my sorority tank. I’m confident that if I had been keeping any fish other than bettas, they would have all died in that tiny amount of water.
Has anyone else ever experienced something similar? My tank wasn’t even a year old so I have no idea what caused it to leak. Please tell me that this is a rare occurrence and a freak accident or I might have to give up my fish…

We got the new cichlids home and put them in the tank with our Oscar. The first fish we put in was the tilapia, which the Oscar struck with enough force to stun it for about five minutes. Then we put the Mayan cichlids in, the Oscar attacked but realized that Mayan cichlids fight back. So now everyone has bite marks and the Oscar has many new battle scars but other than that everyone is getting along.
