I've got like eight people that reply to me at the most random of times, so I literally don't have a clue how many RPs I'm 'engaged' to currently.

I'll be talking to someone and somebody I PMed like 2 weeks ago pops up and says hi.

I'd definitely join that one, Thorrissia! Of course, I'd have to ask if I could use my little rich kid, Fox.

I have a question for everyone though;
Code: Select all
How do you feel about everyone requiring you to remove signatures in roleplays nowadays?

I'm not saying everyone does this but I'm noticing that it's a growing thing and I personally don't like it. At all. My signature is a part of me, if that makes sense. I express who I am there so my internet friends can learn a little about me. What's the point if I just have to hide it?

The world has fallen completely into ruin. All the non renewable sources have completely run out and humanity didn't come up with a good enough solution quickly to save the world. The only place left now is the bubble: a huge city encased inside a glass dome. The Bubble is roughly one hundred miles in diameter, but it protects everything inside from the outside world. Within this dome, new technology has come about enabling fast and efficient travel with renewable energy source consumption instead. Over five hundred years have passed since The Bubble was built and humanity has now discovered how to harness magical powers of the elements. The abilities of this gift is secretly guarded by the government though, and the only ones who can use magic are The Enforcers, or the ones who keep the peace. They essentially act as peace keepers within the city.

The bubble is divided into seven rings, and each of these determines your wealth and your job. The outermost ring is where the poorest of inhabitants live, and the innermost is where the richer are. Moving to a different ring is difficult, although not impossible and so many try and move through the ranks. For those without money or connections however, the only real way to move into the richest districts and be guaranteed enough to eat is to become an Enforcer and learn the ways of magic.

For eight characters, their idea is to become an Enforcer each for different reasons. They begin the difficult training in the art of magic, but not too long after starting it becomes apparent that the government has been keeping secrets. For a start, the well known criminal gang called The Outsiders seems to know how to use magic. For a second, supplies seem to be coming in from the outside of The Bubble.

What do you guys think? I was thinking each of the four elements would have a guy and a girl who affiliate with them. So fire, earth, air, water would all have two magic users from them? I know it needs development, but I am hoping to do something with this.

This reminds me of an RP I'm discussing with a partner of mine ;o.

I like it a lot. Pls maek so I can stalk it.

It depends. Sometimes it completely bogs up the thread and makes it way longer than it needs to be. That being said, I don't like RPs that require it.

I don't particularly mind when it's required. Perhaps it's because I'm rather detached from things, but I don't really care if people see my signature or not. Furthermore, I can understand why it's asked, as the thread is usually neater that way and has less clutter. That being said, I dont require it in my own rps.

nyctophobia has reopened two of its slots so if anybody was interested but missed out, now's your chance.

How do you feel about everyone requiring you to remove signatures in roleplays nowadays?
I don't require it my own roleplays but I understand where the sentiment comes from as signatures can easily clutter up the thread. And I remove my signature frequently when I roleplay already [or when I remember to, at least] so I'm pretty indifferent to it.

I feel like, if the owner wants to keep the thread spotless and pretty, then it should be a rule. I like the idea, but I would never force it.

Thorrissia, that plot sounds like a lot of fun. Looking forward to seeing it made!

How do you feel about everyone requiring you to remove signatures in roleplays nowadays?
While it won't discourage me from joining a roleplay if I'm genuinely interested in the plot and it does tend to make threads look neater, I find it an inconvenience. In those that require it, unchecking the little box is the FIRST thing I do when writing a reply, because otherwise I'll forget. In addition, I find roleplays that permit signatures easier to track. If I'm looking for a post by a specific person, they're much easier for me to scroll through several pages and find if signatures are enabled. Ditto for finding where I left off reading. So I don't mind this as a rule. I don't mind being reminded that this is a rule if I've forgotten. I do mind when breaking this rule a few times is enough to get you kicked from a roleplay and that WILL make me hesitate to join, even if I really like the plot.

Oh, I didn't know that some people had this rule. I need to be around the RP forums more. owo
I don't know how to feel about it. Ever since I first joined signatures have been turned off for me. ((I must have messed with the settings without knowing what I was doing.)) Anyhow, I've never really been interested in signatures, and they always look odd if I allow myself to view them under forum posts, so I keep it off, and for the most part, I don't see or notice them them unless I view a profile.

That being said, I don't have much of a formed opinion on the matter or knowledge of how important they are to people. I suppose that if it truly bothers an RP owner they could simply turn off their own ability to see signatures on forums, as I had. It's an option under the account settings.

i'm personally fine with it, as on advanced scribes i don't even have a signature, and i'm not in any active roleplays here, which has led to inactivity. i personally don't make people remove their signatures, but i'm fine with it if people ask me to.
