Yes it is an amber pony, and those animal imprints are fossils. If you're not there yet, I think in 7th or 8th grade you learn about it. Amber was a substance that animals would fall in to. The amber preserves the fossils.

If you look at the pattern on this dog's back, it looks like it says CS 5 (tit's from CS's 5th birthday)

I never noticed this before, but the designs on this one's tail are little mushrooms!

Yes, even the second stages are. I believe those dogs in the 2008 advent calendar (not all of them are smaller though) were made smaller for fun. ^^
