Dawnshadow smiled as she heard the apprentice's new names announced. She remebered when she was announced an apprentice and she chuckled at the thought. She had been so excited she just couldn't stop fidgeting. Even with her happy memories they faded to sadness when she remembered the death of her mentor Fernblossom. She sighed softly and held in her grief.

Brackentail, watching Dawnshadow from a little ways away, flinched faintly, seeing grief form in her eyes. And pretty eyes they are he thought for a moment in his mind. HER EYES ARENT PRETTY!!! NOTHING IN THIS WORLD IS PRETTY!! another thought in his head bellowed, and he felt his head began to spin in confusion.

Dawnshadow glanced at Brackentail and the confusion in his eyes. "Brackentail?.." she asked, her eyebrows raised in curiosity.

Oakheart looked over at Brackentail and Dawnshadow. A slight flare of anger went though him. He had been asigned to watch dawnshadow, not brackentail. Even though he didn't like it, he still wanted to do it.

Sandpaw crouched lower, and did as her mentor said. Then, when she felt comfortable, she stalked forwards, her eyes on the ferns now. Once close, she pounced, and turned and looked at Ravenflight. "Was that right?"

Ravenflight smiled and dipped her head. "More or less, yes. You need to tense your back legs a tiny bit more, it gives more power to the spring. But apart from that, very good." She dipped her head to the apprentice, smiling warmly. "Practise on my tail. We have to make sure you can do it perfectly before you try it on actual prey, especially ones that can bite back."

Brackentails ears flicked up in surprise. "Hm? Oh, um, yeah, I'm fine." He nodded quickly, trying to shake his thoughts. "I, uh, gotta go." He nodded, dipping his head in goodbye to Dawnshadow. With that, he padded off into the forest to think.

Sandpaw nodded. She crouched again, and tensed her hind leg muscles, then slinked forwards. When she was ready, she pounced, catching her mentor's tail neatly.
