With Barnabas, I think Ambully or Amstaff is a safe guess. Ambullies were bred directly off of Amstaffs so it's not uncommon for there to be "Throwbacks" to the Amstaff look produced, and plus classics can still look pretty much just like Amstaffs.

He looks like there's something else mingling in their, he's just not quite "right" type-wise for me to think all bully breeds such as Amstaff or Ambully. But I don't see any other breeds popping out, he's a neat looking boy :)

L E T I T G O: the camera needs to be lower. it needs to be at the height of his shoulder. Also, I would have to say that he appears to be overweight as he has no waist at all. All dogs of all breeds should have a waist. This is what I would consider a fit basset hound. It has an obvious waist.

Anyway, I would consider him a pure bred though badly bred Basset Hound. He doesn't strike me as anything else. That being said, Bassets tend to have strong genes that dominate over everything else so he could have something else mixed in at a very low content. However, i would still be comfortable calling him pure.

I agree with him looking like a poorly bred basset, I don't really see anything else but could see him being mixed due to the strong genes as Sara said.

And wow, he has 23lbs on my GSD/lab cross!

Her sister looked more beagle-ish than basset hound, Princess also resembles a dachshund with her personality, so I was thinking she may be a mix of all three the other two being a very low content, maybe?

Thank you! He's a special
boy :) If you were to take
a guess right now for that
other breed, what would
you guess? {We know he
was from a BYB, so honestly
he could be anything}

I really dislike assigning breed solely by personality. There's too much cross over when it comes to personality traits. There's not a single breed out that has a personality trait or group of personality traits that belongs solely to them.

Honestly, I would not be comfortable stating any other breed because there are no other traits that clearly point to any other breeds. :x Genetically speaking, both Ambullies and Amstaffs can come in that color so that doesn't help narrow down possible mixes.

I've seen American Bulldogs with similar muzzles, but that's such a small trait and many other breeds could carry that trait. Amstaff and Ambully have been so overbred that they can vary greatly too.

So it's his muzzle that's throwing you off?
Haha, I thought his muzzle looked not-AmStaffy,
too. The world may never know just what he is.

There are so many dogs that we will never know just what they are lol. Even DNA tests aren't 100% accurate. The best we can do is guess xD
