The Khajit stood statue still, staring into the woman's eyes, her pupils almost engulfing her iris. Leaning up against the wall, K'Joor hissed softly, her claws scraping on the walls a bit, gleaming in the dim light of the moon. Hence, she thought, she had been seen. Pulling her skinning dagger from her belt, the Khajit moved out of the shadows, her ears pressed to her skull and her teeth bared. K'Joor knew she didn't look very menacing with her appearance, so the feline twirled her dagger, ready to strike even if her dagger was not made for melee.

The young girl spotted the humanoid feline as it, or rather she, stepped out from under the cover of the shadows. Elizabeth had seen this creature before, the very same one. In fact, she had seen her earlier that day, when she was being followed out of the village by the man named Dorian. Her eyes were now attracted to the being's hostile pose, and the knife in her hand.

However, she knew she had to stay in character. She could not risk her cover as a maid just yet. There was still more time to break into some secrets, maybe even a few vaults. "There is no need for violence, I assure you," she called out, in a frail sort of matter, her voice quivering as she held her hands up and took a step back. She formed her face into one of fear.

Once she had finished healing Alvere's shoulder wound, she had taken the offered glass of water from Val."Thank you m'lady." Her tone was laced with enjoyment, but had a slight ping of exhaustion. After drowning the refreshing cup of water, the Lady turn towards Aeron and Alvere whom where exchanging words. A muffled scoff came from her lips as she bent down to grasp her medicine bag. "I don't care even if you are a Prince, your a dumbass." Adela grinned playfully and pushed her hair back over her shoulders. "As for you Alvere, I'm not so certain you didn't get in the way." She flashed a humorous smile at him also with a hint of seriousness. Lady Adela nodded to Princess Evan, paying her respects before making her down down the balcony stairs into the large hallway. She turned to wave to Val and Kai, then motioned Leonidas to follow her. "You know if your going to be my guard, you have to suit my needs" Adela winked at him in a flirty way before tapping his cheek lightly with her hand and with that she whisked away playfully down the hallway, up for a game of chase.

The Khajit hissed again, reluctantly putting her dagger away. Grinding her teeth together, K'Joor seemed to relax, though she was still tense inside. Maybe she could get something off of the woman, another knife or some money which she desperately needed. Give me your coins or tell me where I can get some and I will try not to shred you into tiny pieces. The Khajit snapped, slightly rolling the words off of her tongue, trying to sound much more hostile.

Elizabeth began to think. If this, this thing, did attack her, she would have to risk her cover as a maid if she fought back, knowing she could very well take on the cat-like humanoid. "I'm afraid I have nothing of value, nor do I know where you could get anything of value. I'm merely a kitchen maid," she replied, taking a step back now.

But I do have something of value, now don't I? she thought to herself. She had her silver necklace, with the silver sparrow pendant with an emerald eye, and then there was the knife tucked into her boot. Taking a deep breath, she decided that it wouldn't matter if she had to flee the castle, seeing as she wasn't really getting anywhere at all here. Therefore her mind was set; she would in fact fight back in the cat attacked.

    ALVERE.
    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
      [ male ] [ seulghem ] [ tagged: whoever? ]

      Today was the day.

On this day, to welcome Seulghem to the kingdom of Istoth - and hopefully mend the wounds Aeron had smartly inflicted upon their pride - a tournament was to be held, celebrating the soldiers', knights', guards' and even the nobles' and royal familys' prowess upon the battle field without risking life and limb. Alvere himself would be taking part (just about the entire regiment of Royal Guards who had attended would be, apart from the three that would stay with the King and Queen) and he was thankful that Lady Adela had healed his stab wound so efficiently that there was not even the slightest hint of a scar. Part of him wished that there was, just so that, when they returned to the homely taverns of Seulghem, both himself and Aeron could tell the story and people would believe. Although, they might not need the physical evidence.....

Smirking to himself, Alvere threw his ruined coat down on the floor next to his bed in the Istoth garrison where they were staying and pulled out a new one. It had hardly been worn and looked brand new. Not the best idea for a tournament where it would get dusty and generally filthy, but it was part of his uniform and as such he was required to wear it. Shrugging the heavy leather on over the top of a new shirt (his other one had also been ruined and he really hadn't wanted to sew it late a night) it was buttoned in seconds and his numerous belts - and even a length of dark blue fabric around his waist, also part of his uniform - joined it. His faithful sword was strapped to his hip, along with a few daggers. Boots covered his feet and his cavalier hat was placed onto the crown of his head last. Finally ready, and knowing the tournament would be starting soon, for servants were rushing about like nothing he had ever seen, Alvere left the garrison and headed towards to arena.

It was a courtyard, the biggest, surrounded by a massive wall around the back of the palace, where the grounds extended. As the first one of the Royal Guards there, Alvere quickly signed his name to take part and sat down at the front of the stands, placing his feet on the small wooden fence put in place to protect the audience from getting hit by a stray weapon.

The night before, Elizabeth had ditched the cat humanoid. Before exiting the castle, she finally snatched up a piece of the kind of information she had been searching for all of that day. There was to be a tournament tomorrow, and of course there would be some kind of reward, now wouldn't there? Despite her love for combat and prevailing pitiful men, she could use something of value to get some money for the poor.

Awaking the next morning, the day of the tournament, she groaned heavily as she rose from the soft dew-covered grass. Blinking, she recalled how she had gotten here, having left the castle and called for Aiden after reaching the edge of Istoth. She wasn't far from the outskirts of the kingdom's capital, just far away enough to know she wouldn't be found in her sleep by unwanted guests. Licking her lips, she got up and spotting her horse grazing nearby.

Making her way over to the stallion, she got into the saddle bags and pulled out what armor she had, which wasn't much. She found that too much armor only slowed her down and didn't help much. In exchange for her maid's dress, she slipped on a rose red blouse that had bishop sleeves. She had already had on a pair of leggings, but exchanged them for a pair of dark brown/black ones that she had. After that, she tucked in her shirt and took out a leather corset that had thick shoulder straps that stuck out from her shoulders a bit, like a shoulder pad. After that, she slipped on matching leather bracers to her forearms and shins, then slipped on her boots. All that was left was to attach her weapons to her belt, sling on her bow, and put her hair into a braid that she would then tuck up into a leather helmet that covered her eyes like a mask and her nose. All of the leather she had on was of a dark brown/black color.

The young warrior mounted her stallion and set off to the tournament. She arrived within thirty minutes, signed up, and was now wandered about after she had found a place to keep Aiden. Clearing her throat, she double checked that her necklace was safely tucked into her blouse, thankful that the chain was long. Elizabeth headed over to the stands, where she saw that she was not the only early competitor. There was also a man here (Alvere), but she did not pay him much attention. Only a quick glance from beneath her helmet was the only acknowledgment that he would get from her.

Val woke up with a groan, shutting her eyes against the near-blinding light entering from the large window. It faced the east, allowing the sun's light to fall on Val's face with the painful truth: it was time to get up. Sighing, Val's maid helped her into a sitting position. Resting her elbows on her knees, the petite redhead fought off a wave of dizziness. After a tense moment in which her maid was poised to run and get help, Val stood up and walked over to the vanity. Splashing some water on her face, she pulled her hair into a simple half up, half-down style accentuated with small braids.
"It's tournament day today, Lady Perry," another maid announced. "Thank you for the reminder," Val replied, internally letting out another groan. Tournaments, while full of entertaining events, were one of Val's least favorite things, coming only after balls and banquets.
After eating a quiet breakfast in her room, Val slipped into her dress. Today, her dress was a sleeveless dark green piece. The bodice cut low to reveal the brown underlayer. It was simple, but most people's standards, but at least it would be comfortable. Taking a last look in the mirror, Val returned to her desk, her new stack of books waiting. The night before, she had snuck back to the library, taking multiple books with her. Opening one on the history of Istoth music, Val shut out her surroundings and began to read.

Dorian awoke in his castle quarters, unsure as to how he got here. Last night was foggy, at best, and Dorian splashed some water on his face in an effort to clean himself up. After the party, hmm. . . oh! Right. Frowning, he made a mental note to send an apology to the kitchens for raiding their pantry.
As the court mage/entertainer, Dorian didn't really do much outside of balls and banquets. Quite frankly, half the things he did during those events were under the radar. For example, the spiked wine. Provided plenty of entertainment -and gossip- but nobody knew it was him. Oh, perhaps the queen suspected, but she'd never say anything. Sighing, Dorian changed into plain black breeches and a cream-colored undershirt. Slipping his arms into his favorite black vest, Dorian strode out of his small room like he owned the world. Which he didn't. But still. Attitude was everything; if you acted like you were rich, people believed you.
Walking out onto the tournament courtyard, Dorian could see that he was early. The only ones there besides some servants were an armor-clad stranger and the guard from the night before. Oh. . . right, Dorian thought, a little guiltily. He got stabbed by the Prince. Striding over to the guard, Dorian sat down next to him and mirrored his position, feet resting on the fence.
"So, you're fighting despite the injury?" he asked, "Or did your get yourself a healer last night?"

    ALVERE.
    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
      [ male ] [ seulghem ] [ tagged: elizabeth, dorian ]

He was not alone for long. After sitting down, the man had pulled his hat forwards on the top of his head, tilting the brim so that a shadow fell over his eyes and protecting them from the glare of the sun. But from under this he caught sight of another person appearing around the corner. They were clad in dark leather armour, with slightly darker breeches and a red blouse with a leather corset. It could only be a woman and immediately Alvere's interest peaked. Who was this woman? He hadn't seen her the night before and even covered in armour she looked to be a very attractive young lady. The Guard wondered if he'd get a chance to talk to her later, or even perhaps face her in the tournament. She wouldn't be here this early unless she was actually taken part.

A voice dragged him from his thoughts. Turning his head and lifting his hat upwards, Alvere looked upon the form of a man bearing the Istoth colours. Once again, he had no idea whom this man was, but he evidently knew what had occurred the night before. A question about his arm was the first thing asked. "Lady Adela of my own Kingdom is a skilled healer and she cared for the wound," he responded, "she is well known for her magical ability and I do not have even the slightest sign of a scar. Which means I can take part, yes. Just about the entire regiment is and I'm not about to miss out!" Alvere laughed heartily.

"I do not know you, however. Who are you?" If the treaty was completed, he would likely be working alongside this man as well as the numerous others of Istoth, and names were a good place to start.
