She woke up to starry cats around her.
'Yes!' she thought, thinking she was dead.
A cat came toward her,"You are not dead," she said,"Your job is not finished. You have to finish your job before you come here. Killing yourself on purpose does not count."
She bristled,"What! But I don't HAVE to live! I have no purpose!"
'Yes
you do," said the cat gently.
"But I want Shadowfur!" she wailed, ears back.
"Well Shadowfur doesn't love you anymore!" She snapped harshly,"WAKE UP!"
She woke up on the beach. Her leg was oddly twisted and hurt very badly. She hobbled along until she came to a steep slope. She thought she'd try and climb it. Slowly and painfully, the beautiful tired young she-cat took it step by step, wincing every time she hauled herself up onto a ledge. She reached the top, and scrabbled up the last ledge, cringing in pain. She smelled something funny and went near the Thunderpath to check it out. She spotted a fallen apart nest and since it was partly assembled and was nearing dusk, she would quickly grab it, hide it and sleep in it. She limped onto the Thunderpath only to he met by the roaring sound of the monster as it came barreling toward her.
SMACK!!!!
