xx[ Belegeth Seregruthes ]xxx[ twenty ]xxx[ sirath ]xxx[ tagged; she is open ]

There was a silence that fell of the small field of the Seregruthes. The crickets seized to sing to each other, and the birds never chirped. This eerie silence carried over to the small house of the Seregruthes, where a blonde woman stood at the porch, eyeing the sea of grass that blew in the wind. She watched carefully as her horses chewed on the grass, but continued to look up uneasily. The unusual behavior scared her. Quickly she moved inside and grabbed her bow, before moving out slowly to the field. The thought of a wolf killing one of her families farm animals scared her. This was their life savings. These animals were keeping them alive. If one dies, then so does the money that they get for them.

Silently she moved off the porch, missing all the planks that creaked once weight is applied. She needed to move silently so she didn't alert the predator that lurked in the field scaring the animals. The bow rested on her shoulder nicely, but began rubbing up against it as she walked. It was such and old bow, looking like it would fall apart any second now. But it could still hold an arrow. Carvings of swirls and initials covered the old wood. Some carvings were deeper than others, showing only how old this bow truly was.

Bell took in a breath and notched and arrow, aiming it outward towards an empty space in the field. Her eyes scanned the area, searching for any sign of movement. The horses near her watched her with a careful eye, as well as the sheep in the other field. Slowly she moved forward. Her hands shook lightly, as well did her body. If it was a wolf, than it could possibly take her down with one strike, or even one bite!

Her eyes caught something that shined. Something that sparkled from the sunlight above. As she advanced, she could make out the outline of a round object. Grass weaved over and under it, as if it was protecting it. She relaxed the arrow and eyed the round object with curiosity. She knelt down and pushed the grass away, revealing the smooth, grey rock. The rock was cool, and so very smooth. Her heart seemed to skip a beat at the sight of this. This very rock could give them all the money they need for the house. But something about it made her want to keep it. Made her want to never give it up. Quickly she plucked it from the ground nad carried it inside. Bell laid it on the table before leaving to go get her parents. When she returned she didn't find the rock, but the king snarling at her. His finger lifted up and she watched in horror as a man from the shadows came after her.

Bell jolted awake. Beads of sweat lined her brow. Her eyes scanned the area she was in. All she could make out was blue. It covered her from above, as well as her sides. She frowned a bit, before realizing what this was.

"Sirath...I am up." she said gently and touched the dragons wing. "You may move your wing..." once she spoke she watched as the wing was lifted up, and tucked to the dragons side. "Thank you." she smiled and got up, blinking out the light. It was a beautiful day, but a bit windy. The breeze caused the surrounding grass to sway, and dance, as well as the leaves from the near forest.

We must find the other riders that are said to exist. she thought to herself. We must find them soon.

{{ forgive me for your guys wait. I have been busy and wasn't able to finish the draft of this. It is very long...as you can see >.<. Any who, you can explain how they found their dragons, but I would like it if your dragons were to be full, to almost full grown. Other then that, that is all I wanted to say... c: let's do this!!

The wind made the leaves on the tall trees rustle and cause some to slowly fall to the ground. A few birds were singing, but other than that, all was quite except for the sound of a horse's hooves on the dirt trail. The horse's rider was half asleep as he had been riding all night, and although his clothes weren't rags, they were filthy. The rider was a loner, casted out by his family after his father found out the his mother had slept with another man, creating him. She was able to hide it for a while, but when the boy wasn't showing traits of either parent, his father got suspicious. The man had survived on his own for a while, hunting for coin. He saved up for some clothes, a horse, and a few cheap weapons but that was the extent of what he owned.

The day started like any other, riding through the woods looking for animals to hunt. The man was tired, but still nothing got past him. He had already caught a pair of rabbits. He kept riding until his horse suddenly stopped. He tried to get the horse to move, but the stubborn animal would not move. The man got off and tried pulling the horse, but instead of moving forward, the horse reared up and backed up. Cursing at the animal, the man went to investigate the trail up ahead and what might be causing his horse to spook. It didn't take him too long to find a strange looking rock sitting up against the base of a tree slightly off the trail. He walked over to the strange rock and picked it up. It was pure black, felt like it was covered in hard scales, and warm to the touch. Confused as to what it was, the man took it with him, keeping it warm in his cloak.

He went to get his horse under control and was back on the trail again, but it wasn't long until he heard the sound of many hooves behind him. He didn't turn to look, but he heard them stop, start yelling, and then start towards him again. The men caught up to him and surrounded him, questioning him about the rock he had just found. They were in armor and wearing the king's colors. He denied having found the rock, and the men searched his saddle bags, but were then on their way. Once he could no longer hear the soldiers, he took the rock out of his cloak and held it again, wondering what it was about this rock that was so important the king was looking for it. Just then, the rock shook slightly and a single crack appeared. The man nearly dropped it in surprise, but something in him made him hold on. He quickly dismounted and set the cracking rock on the ground. It continued to shake and crack until the rock split open. What was inside left the man speechless. It was a black dragon, with red frills and wing membranes. The beast squirmed around for a moment before finding its feet. It look up at the man, tilting it head. When the man didn't move, the baby dragon crawled up onto his shoulder, its tail loosely wrapped around his neck.

Aeron was woken up rudely by his dragon, Balerion, stretching his wings, which sent bright rays of light right into his eyes. He had been sleeping against the black dragon's side, underneath his wing. He had always done that ever since the dragon was large enough.

"Ahh! Belerion, I was still sleeping!" he gasped as he shielded his eyes. Balerion only smirked at him as the great dragon stood up, causing Aeron to quickly stand as well. They were in a small meadow, far from where he last saw people. He and Balerion had chosen to isolate themselves in order to stay out of the king's radar. Aeron sold his horse for some more money and every once in a while, he alone would trek to a village to buy supplies for him and Balerion. The black and red dragon had grown significantly since he first hatched, nearly full grown.

"Fine, you win. I'm up. I'm up. You're lucky we belong to each other or you'd be in serious trouble." he said, mumbling at the end. He soon found himself on his back as Balerion swept his feet out from under him with his tail. He groaned as he got to his feet again, glaring at the big black dragon. Balerion was of course laughing at him, which caused Aeron to roll his eyes.

"Fine. I'd be the one in trouble. You done messing with me? We need to find the other riders. I overheard that there are four riders that the king is looking for. I'm one, which means there are three others and their dragons. We should get searching." he explained as he carefully climbed onto Balerion's back. He positioned himself on the dragon's shoulders and braced himself. He had only ridden a couple of times, and he had fallen off quite a few times as well. He felt muscles gather beneath him and in the blink of an eye, Balerion launched them into the air. Aeron clutched Balerion's neck tightly until the dragon leveled off. The view was breathtaking from the height they were at. Rolling hills and forests as far as the eye could see, but Aeron was looking for more than a beautiful view, he needed to find the other riders.

.....A spritz of juice from some exotic berry made its way onto the face of the merchant, causing the unfortunate face to pucker. An ugly scowl lined the lips of a teenage boy, Darien. "That's what I look like when I see this kind of price for fruit!" he said, serious, plopping the squished berry into his mouth. He and the merchant tried to suppress smiles, but they eventually they could not hold it any longer and burst into uproarious laughter. "I'll take one of those cabbages, but that fruit... tsk, tsk, tsk!" Darien chided playfully, reaching into a pouch he kept on his belt where he kept his meager coin bank. He pulled out two bronze coins and handed them to the merchant.

....."Thank you. It is always a pleasure to see you, Darien," the merchant replied, handing him a rather large cabbage. Then he added under his breath,"Take good care of it."[i]Once it was in his hands, Darien thought it was awfully heavy for a cabbage and that the man was acting very strangely toward this cabbage, but just smiled at the merchant. He waved as he jogged through the streets until he was out of the city and back to the meadows on his family's small property. They were poor, and Darien knew it, but he didn't let that bother him much. As long as they were surviving and happy, life was alright to him.

.....Tall grass and plains surrounded their family garden, full of tomatoe patches and carrot sprouts, which they sold in the market when they were in season. Spotting the only apple tree they had, he headed straight toward it with the suspicious cabbage in hand. This was one of the only places he could go to be alone, away from the prying eyes of his siblings or parents. Carefully, he sat the cabbage on the ground and sat at the base of the tree.Curiously, he picked up the cabbage and began peeling the layers away, placing them in a pile to the side. After the first layers, he began to see bits of a blackish green object in the middle. Once all the layers were peeled away, in his hand was a smooth rock a little smaller than the cabbage. He sat there a few moments, wondering why his merchant friend would hide a rock inside of a cabbage. Did it mean anything to him? Why did he give it to me? What is it? he thought. The egg began to shake and a friendship named Fangol was born. A friendship that would last a lifetime.

Image

.....Darien woke with an enormous yawn. He slept with Fangol's tail wrapped around him, cradling him in a bowl-like structure. "Hey, buddy. We need to get up." Darien sighed, waking up his large dragon. Darien slipped out of the bowl of tail as Fangol moved to a sitting position. "I know you'd like to sleep, but it's a little past dawn and if we are to find those rumored other riders, we had better get ready to go find them now."he prodded. He had heard many things about the supposed other riders while roaming the city. He was delighted to find people who could understand him. He had been kicked out of the house because his parents couldn't afford to give him food. They thought he was old enough to live on his own at the age of nineteen. That was three years ago, but those times seemed a lifetime away. It has been a long time since he had that cabbage that changed his life. It had tasted delicious!

....."Besides, we haven't done anything thrilling in a while."Darien laughed, standing up and brushing himself off, for he had been in musty air and dust the whole night. They were taking lodgings for the night in the large unused barn of a farmer he did not know. He felt a little guilty for using it without permission, but he wasn't using it anyway. So hat was the harm in staying there a couple of nights?

.....Just as Darien mounted Fangol, the barn door opened, revealing a shocked farmer. Darien whooped and Fangol flew over the farmers head, narrowly fitting through the huge barn doors. The wind hit them in a rush, like a mighty river, as they soared to the clouds. The ground grew smaller and smaller beneath them as they rose higher and higher. Darien could see the tiny arms of the farmer waving back and forth in anger for a few seconds, but soon, he became a speck in the distance. Now this is more like it! he thought, smiling as he held on to Fangol's neck. I wonder what the other riders will be like. he asked himself. After all, he was on an adventure to find the other three riders, if the rumor were really true.

    |Keira Gauthier|

It was getting dark out, and Keira knew she should start heading home soon. Her family would worry. Well, who was she kidding; her aunt and uncle were more than a little distracted with their rich relatives visiting and would probably not stop drinking until their heads hit their pillows. They were so pompous, always trying to impress others. It always amazed them when Keira didn't speak loudly or powerfully, when she chooses to say kind, smart things over whatever ridiculous made-up fact they spit out as soon as it manifests in their heads. She shouldn't be so harsh on them, she was well aware, but sometimes her parents were too much! They had money, they had status, what more could they possibly want! And why were they so obsessed with making her just like th-
"Gods!". A sudden mouthful of dirt cleared her thoughts for a few seconds before she attempted to get up, her chest slightly hurting. That had been quite the fall, it had left her red gown all dirty. Looking down at the mess, she turned in a circle to see what had tripped her so cruelly. The brilliant shine surprised her; how had she not seen it when she was walking? Bending down, Keira inspected the huge chunk of gold she had just found, unsure of what to do. She had never cared for money or material things, but something about this gold made her want to pick it up and hide it. Is this how drink addicts felt like? This uncontrollable need?
Looking around and deeming the small woods safe, Keira placed her hands on the precious stone. Wait, what is... are these scales? she thought, rubbing her hands across the shiny surface. They were indeed scales, and she she yanked the stone from the earth and rapidly stood up, she noticed that it was deliciously heavy and perfectly oval. This was most definitely not gold, and something inside Keira told her it was't any kind of stone. Her thoughts were corrected when the scaly surface of the object suddenly started shaking slightly, at first softly and then almost so hard Keira dropped it. She held on to dear life and closed her eyes, her mouth forming a silent scream. She continued shutting her eyes long after the shaking stopped. She didn't even realize the moment the object in her hand stopped being oval and scaly and started being sharp and warm and alive. She finally did open her eyes, and she couldn't believe what she was holding.
A large golden lizard with deep green defying eyes, its tongue dashing in and out in what could only be described as a challenge. Smiling without her permission, Keira brought the lizard closer to her, inspecting the gold scales and the little stubby horns and... there was an excess of skin on its back. It must be awfully uncomfortable, Keira half-crazed thought as she placed the lizard gently on the ground. It remained exactly the way she left it, looking at her smugly. Smugly? Its an animal, it can't look at you that way hahahaha. Reaching towards the skin, the lizard suddenly raised its head, looking at her straight in the eyes. Keira stopped and stared back, swallowing loudly. Something wasn't right, but when her arm continued moving, she didn't try to stop. Taking delicate hold of the surprisingly soft skin, Keira pulled softly. She continued staring as the skin moved away from its body, but after a while it resisted. The skin was connected to the lizard's body, at least 3 feet of thin, see-through skin. In fact, there was a very similar bump on the other side of its back and Keira boldly reached for it, pulling it out and concluding that it was the same size as its neighbor. It was almost as if the lizard had wings. Poor fellow, it would have to live with all that deadweight for the rest of his life. If only it could fly with them, ha, that would be rather funny...
    Keira swallowed again.
The lizard, the lizard smirked at her and flapped the skin powerfully twice, Keira's hair blowing behind her.
    It wasn't a lizard.
    It was a dragon.

    ~

"Then just lower your wing!" Keira annoyingly yelled, rolling her eyes and walking out from underneath Scylla's right wing and into the bright sun. She had started burning from it and had nicely asked if Scylla could help. The dragon hadn't seem to mind at first, extending her wing over Keira and humming lightly. But after 3 minutes she had begun to make such horribly whiny noises. She'd always been dramatic, but that didn't make it any easier for Keira to stand. As the young woman stalked onward, the dragon chucked, a deep gurgly sound within her chest. Her nerve!
They'd been on the road about a week after Scylla had been born in that dark forest, a tiny bundle of light that had grown into a sassy 10-foot beast. So it'd been about 2 months. But Keira was happy, she was glad to be away from the city. Outside had always been her home, and now she was permanently living in it with a magical creature. Go figure.
Her stomach groaned; it'd been a couple months since she'd eaten a proper meal. Keira didn't spend a single coin from her huge allowance on food considering Scylla was an excellent hunter and source of fire. In fact, she had barely opened her bulging bag ever since leaving the castle; there was clothing and money and books in it, but she didn't want any of it anymore. It reminded her too much of her old life. Sighing, Keira raised her arms over her head and stretched, facing the open sky. The sun was felt nice on her skin, her eyelids dancing with light. There was a sudden shadow and Keira frowned. What was Scylla doing now? Opening her eyes and taking a deep breath to yell at her dragon with, Keira was surprised to not see a golden nuzzle above her. Her dragon was nowhere to be seen. But something was definitely flying overhead, large enough to create shadows on her face far below. It was much too big to be a bird, and something about its wings was familiar...
Gasping, Keira ran back. "Scylla, Scylla! Look!". When she found her, the lazy dragon regarded Keira with half-closed eyes and flicked her tongue out. "No, you thick beast, look!". She finally glanced upwards, feigning disinterest before the realization shook through her whole body. Keira noticed how her knees automatically bent, how her wings moved to cover more of her back before growling menacingly. "Scylla. Scylla? Shh, it is all right" Keira murmured, her eyes suddenly wide and a little bit frightened. She approached the beast and it whipped its head to look at Keira. Keira's breath caught; she'd never seen that look on Scylla's face before. That's when her dragon extended her wings, brought them down in a powerful movement and disappeared from sight.
"Scylla!" she yelled, terrified for what would happen. She started running in the direction the unknown dragon, now being approached by an almost blinding mass, was flying, yelling out "Hello! Please, don't hurt her! Stop!" even though she was certain they couldn't hear a thing.

[[ it's aeron and balerion; i didn't know how else to have them meet up :p, and don't worry about Scylla, she's overly curious even though she looks a bit aggressive. and sorry for the long/bad post, haven't had much time with the computer

For once, riding on Balerion's back was a relaxing event for Aeron. Normally the dragon flew for exercise, so he was spinning and diving, and at the same time spewing fire. Aeron fell off numerous times, sent plummeting to the ground below, but somehow Balerion always managed to catch him. This time, however, the black dragon was focused. Aeron wasn't sure Blaerion cared for political matters most of the time. When he explained why they had to live in secret, all he got was a huff and a cloud of smoke in his face. Today he seemed really intent on finding those other riders.

They rode for a long time in silence, except for the sound of Balerion's leathery wings flapping every once in a while and the air whizzing past them. The scenery below them rarely changed. Just lots of trees and the occasional clearing. At first, Aeron was as focused as his dragon, but after a while of looking at the trees, he began to get tired. With a yawn he carefully leaned back so he was essentially laying down. The non-changing sky was almost no better than the non-changing trees below, but at least his imagination could make out shapes in the clouds above him.

"You really think the others riders are out here Balerion? I mean, we've been flying for hours and haven't seen a single sign that there were any dragons anywhere near here." he said without moving. He didn't really expect a response from the beast, but after a few minutes, he not only heard but felt the dragon growl. "Calm down, it was only a question. I wasn't doubting you or anything." he said. He thought Balerion was taking offense to his question, but when the dragon suddenly swerved, Aeron sat up. To his surprise, another dragon was flying at them. He could see its rider below, not well, and he could hear her voice but not what she was saying.

Bracing himself for a crazier ride, Aeron leaned close to Balerion's neck. He could feel the dragon's tenseness in his muscles, like the black dragon was going attack the golden dragon that was flying towards them. "It could be one of the others! Don't hurt it! Just try to land where its rider is, in the clearing." Aeron nearly pleaded with his dragon. He was worried that Blaerion was just going to ignore him, but the black dragon roared and dove with a bit of a spin towards the clearing. Being the crazy dragon he was, Balerion didn't pull up until he was only about 20 feet from crashing, making an abrupt yet smooth landing.

Aeron slid limply from Balerion's back onto the ground, his body weak from holding onto his crazy dragon. "One day, you beast, I'll get you for everything you've put me threw." he half-threatened half joked as he caught his breath and regained his strength. He looked at the rider of the golden dragon, who was on the opposite side of the clearing, and then back at his dragon, whom Aerom could tell was getting into a protective mode. The black dragon's focus shifted from the other rider to the other dragon and his tail was already starting to wrap about Aeron.

"Behave yourself please. These could be one of the pairs we are looking for, so don't mess them up." he said quietly, but the only response from his dragon was a huff. Rolling his eyes, he climbed over Balerion's tail. The dragon growled, but instead of trying to stop Aeron, he just followed behind, closely, as Aeron approached the other rider. "That your dragon that just targeted us? You know we were actually enjoying ourselves for once. You should feel lucky Balerion didn't attack. He hates surprises."

Her fingers ran across the unique blue scales of Sirath. She was such a beautiful dragon, and one with a good mind as well. Sirath is kind, gentle and very laid back. But this isn't all the time. She is very protective of Belegeth, and in which Bell has noticed. Every time she is forced to leave Sirath to hide, Sirath acts strange and refuses to leave Bell's side. She snaps her teeth and will growl in a low pitch that you can barely hear it. Her tail will flick vigorously causing the area around it to be flatten. But Bell always one her arguments with her dragon, though it hurt to watch as her friend lost the battle when she gave such a fight.

Bell climbed up onto the large beast, wrapping her arms around her neck. Before anything happened, she leaned into her dragon and whispered: "Please, fly carefully. You are tearing up my poor legs from your rough riding...I soon will have no skin on them what so ever." her voice sounded more like a demand than anything. In response she got a snort and a roll of eyes. Sirath crouched down. Her legs the lurched up and her wings opened. There they began to flap, moving them farther away from the ground. Belegeth's grip tightened.

"Easy...easy." she spoke gently to her dragon, which then her head snapped around and gave her a light smirk. "No...Sirath n-" she was cut off suddenly as Sirath surged forward. The dragon spun in midair, before dropping. The ground came up quickly. Fear flashed in Bell's eyes. Quickly she shut them and held them tightly close. She used her arms to pull the dragon up back into the air, and to guide her. This was a practice she needed to get a hang of, and she knew it. Both of them needed the practice if they were to be attacked by air. But of course she that would never happen, unless one of the rumored riders decided to attack. Or even the kings dragon.

She shall never be found. They shall never know about us. she thought to herself as she ran her fingers down the neck of her dragon. I won't let them ever find her.

Sirath eased off after a bit. She flew much more smoother and careful. Her wings beat heavily against the air around them. Her shoulder blades straining to fight the wind. Bell tucked her self in and looked down bellow to see the beautiful sights of the forest that they flew over. So much green and life was in it. But the enjoying ride soon ended when she felt Sirath tense, and heard a low grow come from her belly.

"What is it?" she asked frowning as she looked at her. Her eyes the gazed forward to see something up ahead move towards them. It was big, and looked almost like a dark shadow. "Could...could it be a dragon?" she said aloud with wide eyes. "Sirath, tread lightly...do not attack." Quickly she sat up and watched as they neared it.

Everything seemed to happen in slow-motion, every second passing by an eternity. Keira was actually crying as she ran; Scylla had been the only reason she left home, she'd been the only source of genuine happiness in her life. And now her baby dragon was flying towards a black beast in the sky without a second thought, without a single gentle consideration for her rider and friend down below. Keira was barely aware of her continuous screams as her legs moved one in front of the other, her vision now dangerously blurry. She might crash into a tree, but lucky for her she reached a clearing of some sort.
Stopping, Keira attempted to catch her breath and found it impossible. She couldn't follow them anymore and was about to accept defeat, and most likely death, when she heard an absolutely terrifying roar. It wasn't Scylla, for her dragon had never roared before, so it must have been the other creature. Snapping her head towards the sky, another anguished cry stuck in her throat, she noticed with tremendous disbelief that the black beast wasn't attacking Scylla. In fact, it seemed to be twisting in midair... and coming straight for her. She almost didn't care, her crazed grin was much too wide to allow any other kind of reaction. Scylla was alright, she was safe, and she was most definitely not falling back down to the earth, ripped to shreds, wings broken.
Both dragons reached the clearing at about the same time, directly opposite to each other. The black beast was a bit bigger than Scylla, but that's all Keira observed before she was running to her dragon, tears still falling but a bit slower now. "You stupid, stupid beast" she managed to get out before she wrapped both her arms around Scylla's large and scaly chest, breathing in her warmth. The dragon was breathing a bit hard, for the energy needed to take off had been great and she still wasn't full grown. Ignoring everything for a little while and relishing in the feel of her little dragon, Keira almost didn't hear the voice that spoke to her. If it hadn't been for Scylla's growl, Keira would've stayed the way she was for a long time. Gasping, Keira turned around.
The black dragon had a rider. There was a man next to it, not a little bit hurt or damsel-in-distress looking. Keira looked at him, wide-eyed and speechless. He must think she's stupid, because she was almost 100% sure he was asking her a question.
"Umm. Yes." Keira cleared her throat and quickly wiped her face. "Yes, Scylla's my dragon. And I didn't send her, she went on her own accord. She tends to do that, just do whatever she wants. This one time we were by a village and she wanted a chicken and she almost just charged and took them all but I stopped her and-" Keira stopped, taking a deep breath and closing her eyes. She was blabbering, and the rider must now truly think she's stupid.
Alrigh, lets do this one more time. Taking another deep breath, she opened her eyes, visibly calmer "Is that his name, Balerion? It suits him somehow. I'm Keira, and this is Scylla. Who are you?"

.....Darien closed his eyes as the wind whistled though his hair and his clothes. The wind sting on his face, but he was used to it by now. They were flying a few dozen feet below the clouds. If they had been a little farther up, he could see himself stretching out his hand and letting the cool mist of the cloud envelop his calloused hand. He imagined the world below him. He imagined the tiny city with its tiny people. He imagined the tiny king on his tiny throne - he smiled at that. He imagined the merchant he had been friends with his tiny cabbages and fruit. Cabbages. Of all things, I found my best friend in a cabbage. Ha! he thought. He imagined himself down there in the tiny city and a tiny Fangol beside him. These thoughts were soon overcome with others as he opened his eyes and gazed out into the sky in front of him. Curiosity for the rumor of other riders welled up inside him. Was the rumor true? If so, could he even find them? And if he did, would they want him? What kind of people were they? Royalty? Peasants? Merchants? And were they friendly?

.....Fangol noticed his rider was lost in his own world, too engaged that he wasn't paying much attention. He decided to wake him from his daze and bring him back to this world. He spread his wings broad and wide and tilted them. Lurching forward, he began to send them into a backflip. "Woah, Fangol! Stay calm!" Darien screeched, shocked. This was not usual Fangol behavior. Fangol was almost always calm and sensible, unlike most dragons. His dragon must be on edge for some reason. It must be something important. Darien was in his own little world while Fangol was paying attention. Just before they were completely upside-down Darien locked his arms around Fangol's neck, not wanting to fall to his eminent death. Once they were level, all was silent for a moment. Then he heard an unfamiliar flap of an unfamiliar wing. There was someone or something flying very near to them. Could it be one of the riders? He hoped they were not hostile, for he did not want to pick a fight. And he knew his dragon well enough to know that he didn't want a fight either.

.....Darien knew he had a dagger in his pocket and would use it if he needed to, but he was hoping he could save that for another person. The one person he hated most. He hated the king. The thought of killing innocent dragons lot a spark he never knew was inside him. He wanted the king dead. He couldn't bring himself to forgive the piece of dirt. His merchant friend who had slipped him Fangol's egg was a good and brave man indeed. He was dead now - thanks to the king. Someone had seen him wrapping it in a cabbage - the cabbage - and had turned him in. This only made Darien's hatred even more vibrant.

.....In a minute or so, Darien could feel the tenseness in Fangol's shoulders as a whiteish grey tail was seen through the cool must of the clouds. Fangol stooped and began to hover. He could hear the low growl of another dragon up ahead. "If you are friendly, please show yourself. We don't want trouble." Darien shouted over the beating of wings. He hoped this wasn't one of the king's dragons. If it was, they were about to have a fight on their hands. Now it was not only Fangol who was tense, but also Darien. He was ready for anything that was to come.

Aeron waited for the girl to answer him. He watched as she embraced her beast, but kept a close eye on the dragon. He didn't miss the growl and he knew Balerion heard it as well, but that wasn't the only thing he noticed. The girl's face was stained with tears like she was crying recently. As she answered, Aeron rolled his eyes. Sure, Balerion was uncontrollable at times too, but at least he listened when it came to his safety. As much as Balerion would want to fight a larger dragon, if one existed, Aeron would be able to talk some sense into him before Balerion did something stupid. But he wasn't even sure he could trust this rider. What if this was a trap? What if she rode for the king? Aeron observed her clothing. There was no sign of allegiance to the rotten king. Perhaps she was one of the ones he and Balerion were looking for.

"Aye, his name is Balerion, and mine is Aeron Stark. You said you brought your dragon into a village? Do you to be captured by the king? There could have been spies there, or the villagers could have reported seeing your dragon. I never brought Balerion anywhere where there were people I didn't trust." he questioned the rider, who introduced herself as Keira. She looked a bit younger than him, but only a couple years at the most.

Without really waiting for her to answer him, he spoke up again. "A rider should be able to control their dragon, especially young ones like yours. Balerion is a handful, but at least he knows when to listen to me." he explained with a stern voice. He looked up at Balerion, who was now sitting perfectly up right. The dragon's focus was purely on Scylla, as if Balerion thought the gold dragon was going to attack. He laid a calm hand on Balerion, near his shoulder and the beast looked down at his rider. The two stared at each other for a moment before Balerion laid down, obviously still tense. Aeron moved closer to his dragon's head and rubbed the warm black snout. "Your dragon, Scylla, will end up getting you both captured or worse if you can't get her to cooperate with you." he said without looking back up at her.

He continued stroking Balerion in an attempt to keep the dragon calm for a moment longer before he looked up at Keira again. He supposed they would have to work together to find the other two riders. "Have you heard anything about the location of the other riders? I overheard there were three others besides myself, and if you are one of those three, than there are still two more to find."
