"I can't tell," Luke said honestly. He winced again. "It hurts." He sighed. "I'm so sorry, Kris."

"No baby, it's okay," she said. "I have a surprise for you, hon."

"What is it?" Luke asked her.

"Close your eyes," she said and went to Sarah. "Hon, Dad's up."

Luke did as told and waited.

Sarah looked up at her groggily. "He is?"

"Yeah, shh," she whispered. "He doesn't know you're here," she said so only Sarah could hear then led her to stand over Luke.

Sarah nodded and quickly became coherent. "I'm coming." She stood and walked to Luke. She touched his hand gently. "Hi Daddy," she whispered.

Luke's eyes opened and he gasped. His jaw dropped open.

Kris stepped back and smiled.

They hugged each other, Luke tearing up. He'd missed his daughter so much, and now she was back.
