I like one x ones and group role plays equally in their own right. It definitely depends on the plot and how I'd like things to run. I love group role plays because of the variety of characters, whereas in one x ones people tend to flip if they have to play multiple characters.
I'm just disappointed that I haven't been in a successful group in over three years. All the groups I join here die before they even start. My superhero role play seems to be running nicely; I hope my members stick with me.

I honestly thought that was how the first group I joined was going to end up, but so far it's looking promising.
I think we all should join one. ;o

Wow, I never thought of it like that. I'm more worried about having one person being entirely reliant upon my posts and scrutinizing them u.u
I'm not opposed to them per say, I'm just nervous about them. I don't know anybody here besides Rose :\
I guess I've never really looked at it like that, that your partner is completely reliant on your posts. hm.
I also suppose I like them since there's less unpredictability xD I like to have a rough outline at times as how things might progress and of course deviating from that when something better comes up, but anything other than an adventure plot for me has to be planned.

I guess that's where we differ ;p
I don't like being completely unaware of a general plot, but it seems boring to me if I'm acting on a script. I'd be a terrible actor.

how important do you believe racial diversity is in roleplays? do you often play racially diverse characters yourself?
I think racial diversity can benefit a roleplay the way it benefits us in real life, bringing in different cultural perspectives and even languages, but it isn't as important as being competent in what race is roleplayed. It does no good to roleplay a devout Turkish Muslim if you've got little idea how different they react to and view distinct situations, pop culture icons, etc etc. it'll just feel forced and phony.
I'm not the best person to ask about racial diversity in roleplaying since I've not actually started one as of yet, but I plan on incorporating more Hispanic characters and culture from my repertoire and personal experience.
Good question. c:

wait crap i should probs answer my own question
how important do you believe racial diversity is in roleplays? do you often play racially diverse characters yourself?
i think it's rather important, yes. especially because, unless you're doing some sort of roleplay with a really creative reason as to why they'd have one type of ethnic group, there'll always be some sort of variance within ethnic groups. you get asian, then indian, then southern indian, and there's more there, of course [and that's just an example i thought of randomly]. like ptolemy said, I think it's important to have lots of different perspectives in roleplays. like in real life, roleplays would preferably have all types of people / characters in it.
i mean i'll play a racially diverse character when i want to; i don't particularly go out of my way to play a character that's not strictly white, but sometimes when characters are oc's and i see a lot of white faceclaims, i stick in one or two of my non-white characters. /shrug
when the faceclaim is set by the creator of the rp, i'll play the faceclaim i just get kind of perplexed when there's only white people ;; don't kill me. and i think i probably have a few more white characters than not? hard to count >> sometimes i have the same character but with different looks / body types / ethnicity / etc.

Here's a better question for you, if you don't mind:
- Code: Select all
How much does the race you play affect how you roleplay?
