The Doctor made a confused face at Mercy for a moment before realizing what she was doing. This had to be the friend she had mentioned, the partner she had lost, and he supposed it was as convincing an act as anything. Trying not to probe her mind too much, he listened to a few of her thoughts, including 'can I do that mind thing?' He wasn't sure it was safe to keep telepathically communicating with her, as too much psychic energy could knock a human out*, but he sent her a last message:
If you need to say anything to me, just think really hard. Think about me, or what you're going to say, and think hard. I can't do this too much, it might hurt you, but telepathic communication is safe enough if you're careful... He wasn't sure what to say, he hoped he'd be able to pick up on that output of psychic energy, which was why he wanted Mercy to think hard. If she did so, if she tried herself to hold a telepathic link, perhaps she'd be able to send out enough psychic energy for him to pick up on naturally, and he could set his mind to the same wavelength**.
He was jarred from thought by the cold metal of handcuffs settling around his wrists and clicking into place. Cautiously, so as not to be noticed, he touched his pocket to make sure his sonic screwdriver was still there-he'd be able to get Mercy's cuffs open with that and then his own, and then the door. He thought through a plan quickly.
Okay, we need a plan... Plan, plan, plan... oh COME ON Doctor! You're smarter than this! After a few more moments he had it figured out. It was risky but it was their best shot.
Got it. Okay, I'll use the sonic screwdriver to open Mercy's cuffs, I should be able to get the right angle on it. Then I'll have her point it at mine, or in case she steals it or something I'll do it myself. Then we'll unlock the cell door. There won't be guards right outside***, so that will be good. I'll use a blast of telepathic energy to send some kind of signal, preferably disorientation, to any guards that do get in the way, then we'll run to the TARDIS and I'll hide there with Mercy until it's safe. Or maybe we'll just leave and come back. Either way works. Satisfied with his plan, he turned to Mercy and studied her facial expressions. She betrayed nothing, no fear, but there was a glimmer of excitement-the same glimmer he used to get whenever he went on an adventure.

(Okay, I feel better about these every post. A bit less sad now :D Hey, out of curiosity before I do the * explanations, what time is it for you when I posted this? I want to know if you're in a different time zone so I can plan posting a bit better.

* The first star is merely a speculation, I personally think that it would probably work, but I don't know and there's no information about it so I'm just making that bit up. It seems feasible, YOLO. (I need to stop using Yolo. I really do.)
** The second star is more speculation, more lack of information on psychic and telepathic powers, but I think the Doctor would be able to do that if he so wished.
***The reason he knows there are no guards and can map a route back to the TARDIS so easily is because he scanned (sort of) the policeman's brain for information about their cell.
I hope making up all that is okay hehe)

Okay, Mercy, okay, you can do this, she whispered under her breath. Doctor? she thought, trying hard to stay focused. On him. The Doctor. His voice. His image. She has making a passage way to her brain and to his brain. The Doctor's brain...it must be full of knowledge, thought Mercy. No, I'm getting distracted...okay, focus, right. Mercy imagine herself writing a letter, putting it in an envelope, and sending it to the Doctor. Mercy chewed on her lip, trying to force herself to focus. She closed her eyes, thinking hard. All of a sudden, she felt...different. It was difficult to explain it, but it felt as if something was splitting open her skull and leaving. It hurt, but maybe with some practice she could master it. Doctor, did I do it? I did it, right? I- The loud clop of horse hooves against stone quickly broke Mercy's focus. Mercy barely stifled a scream of pain. Again, the girl attempted to send the Doctor another message. What just happened? Why did that hurt, Doctor? The clopping of hooves grew louder, and a carriage stopped in front of the policeman and his prisoners. The carriage was drawn by two chestnut colored horses, and a man in a police uniform sat in the driver's seat, wielding the reins of the jet-black carriage. The stout policeman forced Mercy and the Doctor onto the carriage, sitting them close to each other, while he sat opposite to them. Mercy glared at the policeman, saying nothing. She didn't need to say anything. If the girl needed to communicate with the Time Lord, she would try to send him a telepathic message. Mercy closed her eyes, thinking hard. She focused on her message. Doctor, do you have a plan? I found a piece of metal on the ground while we got hand cuffed. We could use it for something. Jimmy the lock for the cell or something, I dunno... A scream of pain threatened to escape Mercy's throat, and she bit her tounge to keep herself from shrieking. Suddenly, Mercy felt weak and dizzy, as if all her energy had been sucked from her body. Mercy's head tipped back, and her world turned black as she passed out.

(Dun dun dun! I'm in the Eastern Time Zone, so it was after nine my time. And yeah, I'm fine with you making some stuff up as long as the Doctor doesn't fall in love with a unicorn Dalek or something like that. ^_^)
Nope.

The Doctor felt a surge of psychic energy before the link was abruptly cut. He turned to Mercy, catching a grimace of pain and knowing instantly that she had lost focus at a dangerous time. Trying not to hurt her mind further, he set his own telepathic abilities to her wavelength. I'm sorry, Mercy. Your focus was broken, that's why it hurt. Try not to do something like that again- His own psychic link was snapped again as he heard another thought...then Mercy's head fell back and she went limp. The Doctor knew immediately that she had pushed her very minimal psychic abilities to their limits. He reached over to feel her pulse and check her breathing, then moved her head onto his chest and waited. They arrived at the station about twenty minutes later, and Mercy appeared to still be unconscious. The policeman gestured for them to get out of the carriage, so the Time Lord had no choice but to pick up Mercy's still-limp body and carry her to the dimly lit cell they would share. The policeman checked their handcuffs to make sure they were secure, and then left them in the small, locked cell.

The Doctor tried to pass the time before Mercy woke up, he tried plenty of things. He tried reciting every Earth poem he knew, he tried singing in various languages, most alien, he tried picking up a small white rock and doodling on the stone walls of the prison cell, but she still wouldn't wake. He sent out a weak psychic pulse, trying to pick up a stray thought, and was relieved when he realized her brain was consciously working. That usually meant someone was waking. He'd have to help her with psychic ability-what? What was he thinking? The Doctor knew he couldn't stay with her-he'd find some way to help her, give her a good meal, and then leave. He couldn't let himself get attached to a new companion, not after all the grief he'd just gone through with Donna and the rest of them...

He checked her pulse again and considered using quite a bit of his remaining psychic power to send her a burst of energy that ought to spur her brain into action, likely waking her up. She seemed fine other than the unconsciousness, and he honestly wanted to let her sleep, however-she looked exhausted, and the brown-haired man simply put an arm over Mercy's shoulders and waited.

(AWWW I'm so cute XD
I'm rewatching the fourth Harry Potter movie just to see the semi-small number of scenes that David Tennant is in...I think it's an understatement to say he's a celebrity crush.)

Mercy groaned as she opened her eyes. She was confused for a moment, and looked around the cell before she remembered what had previously happened. "Oh. Right. Prison. Lovely." Her eyes danced around the cell, picking up on all the little cracks and crevices that betrayed potential weakness. "Mmph. My head hurts. How's that work out, exactly, Doctor?" Mercy's voice was lowered to a whisper, just in case there were eavesdropping policemen making sure that they didn't try to escape. "Oh, yeah, and the plan..." Mercy produced a metal strip from seemingly mid-air. "I'm not very good at jimmying locks, but I think I could manage...unless you have some magical alien door-open-y thing. Now that would be great right now..." Mercy smiled, thinking of her Ezra, the original Ezra. She liked talking about him, even if to herself. "He was only thirteen. I was twelve...When he died...When Ezra died...He had red hair..." Mercy closed her eyes, and leaned her head back on the cell wall. "That head of hair...it was like a blazing fire," Mercy opened her eyes, looking at the ground. "You know, his eyes were nice too. His eyes had some power or something, they made everybody trust him. Or maybe it was just me..." Mercy sat up, realizing she was saying it out loud, with the Doctor right there. "Oh, right yes, the plan. I'm thinking that we should gather as much material as possible." Mercy got up, with some difficulty. "Here," she said, pointing to the floor with her foot, "is a loose stone. Possibly helpful. Over there," she said, walking over to the wall and pointing out another stone, "we've got a second loose stone." Mercy looked at a bar near the bottom of the cell door. "Wiggly bar." She sat with the Doctor again. "So, I'm thinking that we can try to pry the bar loose, maybe with a stone. The stones are good for whapping guards, and the bar might be helpful somehow. Any ideas? "

(XD Recently, I whapped my hand on a wall by accident, and my finger swelled up like crazy. It hurrrts so baaaaad! :( )

The Doctor smiled as Mercy awoke with a groan. "Morning, sunshine," he chuckled softly. "Your head hurts because you overloaded your own psychic abilities. You sent too many messages, you didn't even need to do that-it was just a pulse. I did warn you, though, didn't I?" He gave her the cheeky grin he usually only reserved for companions when he did something silly.
He listened to her talk about Ezra for a moment and then realized she had said "Magical alien door-open-y thing". Which of course, was the sonic screwdriver. This girl was rather clever, even if she didn't realize it.

He nodded at her remarks about loose things, but shook his head when she mentioned hitting guards. "There will be no injury here if I can help it. I despise violence, especially after the war..." He trailed off, realizing she had no idea what he meant. Instead, he pulled out the sonic screwdriver, showing it to Mercy-luckily he had already undone his handcuffs with said sonic pulses from his pocket, and undid hers in the next moments. "Sonic screwdriver. It doesn't wound or kill but it is brilliant at opening things," he smiled again, that cheeky grin that seemed to melt most people he met. He thought for a moment.
"The plan, right! Okay, the plan is that I'm going to open the door with the sonic. There are no guards outside the cells, so the only thing we might have to worry about is any that are at the front. Luckily, I can render them stunned with a psychic pulse, though it will require some pain for myself and considerable energy. It will also stun you, so I'm sorry. I'll take you back to my TARDIS-that's my ship, trust me, it's not what it looks like, don't worry, she'll get us out. Did I mention the TARDIS is a sentient being?" He rambled on, still thinking about plans. Despite his seemingly random actions most of the time, he did rather enjoy thinking up clever plans and having people compliment them. The Time Lord loved compliments-was rather vain at times to be completely honest-but really he just liked showing off, and he had everything he needed to do so. He finished unlocking Mercy's handcuffs and then pointed the sonic at the door, unlocking it nearly instantly, though it was a bit rusty and interfered with the pulse a bit. He readied his mind to send out psychic energy waves if necessary, and pulled Mercy to her feet.
Thinking quickly before they dashed out, he looked at her and grinned that cheeky little grin of his. "You know, I never got your name. Tell me while we're running!" He said, and pulled her out the cell door and towards the front of the building.

(Dude, that sucks, I'm so sorry. I've been on pain meds for at least like a week now because of these MISERABLE sores in my mouth that seem to multiply daily-I've got five now and I can feel them because they're pressed right against my teeth, I have to hold my lip weird all the time and keep it in between my teeth, and I can't eat on either side because I've got them all along my lower lip and on the sides too. Heh, it's awful. I've been technically overdosing on the medicines just because it HURTS)

Re: 1×1 Doctor Who RP {★} 10th Doctor needed

"Stun me? Goodness, Doctor, I'll have fainted twice today. That's gotta be a record." Mercy smiled a little as she listened to the Doctor ramble on. It reminded her of the multiple times Ezra conjured up plans and explained them to her in detail, expecing praise for his cleverness, which Mercy was more than happy to do. After all, Ezra was the smartest person she had ever met, and there was no reason to hide it. Mercy snapped out of her flashback and focused on the Doctor's words. Now's not the best time to daydream, she reminded herself. She frowned at the "sentinent being" bit. "Wait, hang on, what? You've got a spaceship that's...alive? So...you're traveling in the insides of some...thing? Does it eat? Does it talk to you or something? Do you strike up little conversations about the weather?" Her eyes glimmered with excitement. "Wow, traveling around in a thing...sounds fun. Oh," she exclaimed as the Doctor pulled her to her feet. She followed the Doctor, easily keeping up with him. Like the Doctor, she too had plenty of practice and was a swift runner. Apparently, being a thief taught one lots of things. How to lie, or, as Ezra called it, act, how to be a pickpocket, how to jimmy locks, and, most importantly, being a thief forced one to get better at running and increased agility and endurance. And how to get loads of stuff for free. But no stealing if you're going to get the Doctor's trust and respect. Stealing is bad, Mercy. No stealing. At that moment, she remembered the Doctor's request. "Oh, right... I'm Mercy Temperance. Mercy Temperance Hartridge."

(Oh, wow, that sounds really sucky... Btw, I would write more, but I've got writer's block. Sorry about that.)

Re: 1×1 Doctor Who RP {★} 10th Doctor needed

Postby Iwillneverchange » Fri Mar 28, 2014 12:01 pm

The Doctor laughed at the idea of the TARDIS eating. "No, it doesn't eat, and yes, it talks, but it's really more of just a humming noise that I happen to know the meaning of. And no, we don't talk about the weather-it can't really see outside other than in-structure cameras anyway. And yes, I suppose I am traveling in the insides of a 'thing' as you so eloquently put it."
As they ran through the hallway, they heard a bit of commotion-the guards had obviously heard and noticed that their two newest prisoners were gone. He only had moments to think about the fact that Mercy was rather decent at keeping up with him, though he had been running at a bit of a slower pace. Might as well give the policemen some exercise, he thought, chuckling slightly. He had only those same moments to commit her name to memory before they reached the front of the building where there were guards waiting with guns pointed at them. The Doctor let go of Mercy's hand, sending her a short telepathic message: [i]I'm stunning you all now[i], before he racked his brain for all usable psychic potential and sent out a wave on a frequency that should stun and render unconscious all humans within a 100-foot radius. As Mercy collapsed along with the policemen, he caught her swiftly and picked her up, darting out the open door and slowing to a walk as he neared the TARDIS. As Mercy was out of the area the pulse had affected, she would be waking in a few minutes, where as the policemen would be out for at least an hour-long enough for them to escape by all means.

He pushed open the door to the TARDIS and got a humming noise in return as the sentient ship seemed to 'survey' its possible future new passenger. He laid Mercy down in a chair and set the ship to be able to fade out at his command. He would wait for Mercy-and of course he'd have to ask before he took her with him, he really should have thought of that bit. Realizing that, he took her back outside and set her down gently on a bench near the parked TARDIS, sitting down next to her. He shouldn't need to wait more than a few minutes...he saw the people walking around with thick coats and realized that while it was a nice temperature for him, seeing as since he was a Time Lord he had a much lower body temperature, it was probably rather cold for Mercy, so he took off the tan coat he usually had on and laid it over her shoulders, leaving him in only the brown pinstripe suit.

(Hehe, it's fine, I completely understand writer's block. It's so nice having someone who I can do long posts with though, I think it's completely fine if you don't do a four-paragraph post or whatever I'm doing now. Also I'm dyeing my hair ginger for the comic-con I'm going to tomorrow so as a warning, I may not be on much-school and then a four-hour drive up with no wi-fi for a while. The hotel will have some, but I'll be at comic-con for a while-Matt Smith and Karen Gillian, aka the 11th Doctor and Amy Pond, are gonna be there and I'm SUPER excited. I'm cosplaying as Amy so I get to be GINGER!)

Re: 1×1 Doctor Who RP {★} 10th Doctor needed

As Mercy listened to the Doctor, a disappointed look formed on her face. "Aww, I really wanted to feed the TARDIS. That'd be an interesting conversation to have. 'So, Miss Hartridge, anything exciting happen lately?' ' Well, I fed my friend's spaceship yesterday. We had a nice chat about politics and the weather... But besides that, no. How 'bout you?' " Mercy laughed, thinking about that interesting situation. "Nobody would talk to me. They'd all think I'm batty." Not that it's much different now, Mercy thought. This depressing thought silenced her, allowing the shouts of red-faced policemen and the thumping of their feet to echo around the bland, grey prison. Mercy gasped as she spotted the policemen wielding the guns. Immediately, her mind went seven years in the past.

The bang of a gunshot commenced a symphony of screaming and tears. His hand was pressed over his chest. There was a smile on his dying face. And then his beautiful brown eyes closed. "Ezra! EZRA! WAKE UP, EZRA, DON'T LEAVE ME! YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME! YOU CAN'T! " her past self screamed her partner's name, again and again, shaking his body. Young Mercy held Ezra's body close to her own, her body shivering and her tears sliding down her face. "Ezra, no..." the young girl sobbed. The older Mercy knew what happened next. She would run away, with the locket he had given her in her hand. Mercy had no choice. The policemen had been coming after her, and she couldn't get caught. So she just left his body behind. The Doctor's message pulled her out of her flashback, and she backed away, towards the wall, so that she wouldn't get too much injury when she collapsed.

Mercy's eyes fluttered open, but her vision was still blurry. Mercy blinked once, twice, three times, attempting to clear her vision. When her eyes were clear, she looked around. What she saw terrified her. It was a box. A big box. A blue box. And, apparently, a police box, according to the black strip around the top of the box. "Doctor, what is this?" Mercy looked at the Doctor, a million questions whizzing about in her mind. "I thought I-You said-" None of the questions seemed to fit right, so she went with an accusation. "You lied to me! Doctor, I really trusted you. I thought-" But there was nothing left to say, nothing left to do-except run, of course.

(I'm so jealous! Ugh, all my online whovian friends ate doing cool whovian things. One of my online friends went to a DW symphonic orchestra or something. She even uploaded images that she took from it. I'm so bored now. Maybe I should make a clever acronym for 'whovian friend that I met online' I want it to be 'w.h.o.' but I'm not sure how to make it work... dem nerd problems.)

(Hehe, sorry I didn't reply, I've been rather uninspired for my 10-Muse and I'm just now getting it back plus I had no internet access with my computer at comic-con, I was super busy. I got a picture with Matt Smith though, and it's awesome, and I'm super happy about it. When I get enough inspiration to write, I will just change this post :D)
