Kris sighed. "Don't get upset," she said.

JJ came back and sat down, but he read the label on the water bottle.

"I'm not," Luke replied, looking at her.

Sarah reached over as much as she could without hurting herself and placed her hand over his lightly. "Hey it's okay, just don't pay attention to them," she murmured quietly so only he could hear.

Kris sighed. "Yes you are. I know when you give up."

JJ sighed and took her hand. "They don't like me looking at you."

Luke shook his head. "I'm not upset," he repeated honestly.

Sarah frowned. "Why would that bother them?" She winced again due to her stomach, but then laced their fingers together. She raised their clasped hands up and kissed the back of his hand gently.

JJ sighed. "The wending machine is right outside. I could hear them," he told her. "Your dad doesn't like me making Googly eyes at you."

Despite being injured, Sarah rolled her eyes. "Who cares if you make googly eyes at me? I make them at you too. It's none of their business what we do, so just ignore them." She kissed his hand again.

JJ looked at her, and smiled a bit. "Okay," he said.

Sarah's eyes searched his face and she smiled gently. "He's just on edge because you're older than me and he knows you so well. But you won't hurt me, so there's nothing to be afraid of." She paused. "Are you okay though? You seemed kind of upset."

"No, not upset," he said. "I'm fine," he said.

Sarah nodded in relief. "Okay, good."
