"I know." Sarah offered another gentle smile. "I like that about you."

Luke cleared his throat slightly, letting them know that he was still in the room and he was still Sarah's father. Therefore, he was going to act like any father would in a situation like this and try to intimidate the crap out of JJ. It probably wouldn't work, but he might as well give it a go. Besides: Sarah was his baby girl, and JJ was older than her, so he technically had a good reason to be worried about her.

Kris nudged Luke. "They're fine."

JJ looked at Luke, and sighed. "Sorry." After a moment, he stood. "I'm gonna go get a water. Do you need anything?"

Luke glanced at Kris and nodded. "I know. But I still have to at least ACT like an intimidating dad, don't I?" He chuckled.

Sarah sighed. She'd been enjoying their conversation. "No, I'm fine. Thanks though."

Kris sighed. "Yeah, but we both know he won't hurt her."

JJ nodded and gave her shoulder a light rub then left.

Luke nodded. "I know. But I might as well act the part." He kissed her head. "It's okay, Kris. I like him, promise."

Sarah sighed and watched him go.

"JJ thinks otherwise now," she said.

"It's not that I don't like him; it's that I don't like him flirting with my daughter in front of me," Luke explained. "They keep making googly eyes at each other."

Kris sighed. "No, they weren't flirting. We aren't the only ones who almost lost her. He saw her when it happened. They're not googly eyes."

"It's not just now," Luke told her. He sighed and shook his head, knowing he was going to lose this battle anyway. "Whatever, I'll shut up."
