A "How to use the search function" Guide

I don't think the search function works on the announcements, it always tells me that a word can't be found when I'm looking right at it, or when I am not.
Is this true?

If you do not tyoe a complete word of something, Ex: 'wish' instead of 'wishing' or 'wishlist'
Will the search results still show up?

They will pop up when you add the 'wildcard', which is the star sign *.

So for example when i'm searching for toxics in the trade forums, when i search for 'tox' i'll only find threads with that. But when i search for '*tox' i'll find all threads/posts named tox or toxic C:
