[[Starlight]] - Gifted/Teen Romance [Semi-lit+]

Nate shoved the papers he had received from his Spanish teacher into his bag. He scurried out of the room before Señor could assign him homework on the first day. He enjoyed the class sometimes, but some days he just couldn't stand the nasally voice of Señor López. Even after his run up the mountain this morning, Nate still had a ton of energy and was looking forward to Gym.
So many of the other students in the school walked around the hallways with ear buds or headphones on but Nate couldn't stand the noise so close to his ears. He tried listening to music on the lowest volume but it was still too loud to his sensitive ears. This caused his a dilemma because he loved listening to music and he liked to hear it when he had to write for inspiration. At home or in his truck, he used the stereo or his laptop speakers. At school, he still found it hard to write without music so in English he had talked his teacher into letting them listen to a small stereo when the class had to write. Each day when they wrote, someone would get to choose what they listened to. It was pretty cool to hear everyone's tastes in music. English was his other favorite class next to gym.
Up on the top row of the bleachers, Nate found a spot. He waited for their gym teacher to come in and give them the usual spiel. He was not looking forward to the rest of the day. Too many papers and boring lectures. Closing his eyes, he sighed waiting out the time.

Haylee nodded and shuffled her stuff into her bag, swinging it onto her shoulder. She held the snow in her hands and shuffled down into the hallway crowded with students. She stepped out and was getting pushed around but it was fine with her. She was used to it. It happened every year, no matter what school she went to. Although, she did hope to make a friend this year and PE was not a class she was looking forward to. She was physically fit, thin as a twig, but she still didn't enjoy the class. Haylee looked at all the other students and saw they were all listening to music, or most of them were anyway. She wasn't paying attention to were she was going and ran straight into a locker door. She hit it hard and her face hit it. She let out a small wince in pain and looked around hoping no one had noticed. She shuffled the snow through her fingers.

Hiko turned and glared at her. "Me? Watch where your going. Your the one with your eyes closed." He retorted. But their was amusement in his eyes. The sadness was gone. For now. "Are you heading to PE? That's my second class. i missed my first one." He said absentmindedly. He gazed around, his body tense and his face still pale from the fever. He sighed and looked a ther, an eyebrow raised. "Would you like me to accompany you to the Gym?" He said quietly.

Ren pretended a frown. "Ah. Details." she waved her hand in a careless fashion and shrugged, but she kept her eyes open this time as she semi-danced a couple of steps ahead, even though she did not pay attention to anything in her surroundings. She liked to shut off at times, and she found out music was the best way to do so. With a more attentive look, she figured many people thought the same - at least judging by the number of headphones, earplugs and such.

When Hiko asked to accompany her to the gym she was slightly surprised, but she nodded. "Yeah, come with me. The training grounds are this way. See, our PE isn't quite the normal PE of humans out there. Our PE is when those who have physical powers, like you and me, train them in teams. All classes and years mix up. Teams are chosen in the first class and stay together for the rest of the year, unless there's something important or someone's killed. I've seen it happen once or twice before." Her usual smirk shrank to a grim line. "But eh, it's fun, you just gotta watch out. And the ones with mental Gifts, well, they try their best to match us and get better. This way, here." she took her favorite shortcut, avoiding the crowded central corridors. Starlight was a maze of corridors, inner gardens and classrooms, almost a tiny city for The Gifted. No wonder. All The Gifted from USA and some other countries gathered here. The Gifted were rare, but almost all of them were at Starlight.

Hiko frowned slightly, but followed her. A few minutes later and he was standing in the gym. It was large and half built. Literally. half of the gym opened up in a large meadow, where a forest met at it's edges. A lake was off to the distance, but with his sharp eyes, he could catch the large fence. His eyes narrowed. No doubt it was to keep whatever was in the forest in. And whatever outside out. He looked around and grimaced, rubbing his head with the heel of his palm. He was still shaken from his earlier fever and his face was still pale, making his scars show lividly. "This is the gym?" He asked incredulously. Suddenly, he froze and his hands clenched. His eyes narrowed and locked on something far off in the forest. For a second, he could of sworn he had seen a flash of silver eyes. Slowly, he relaxed, but his eyes never left the spot. "When's class start...?" He asked quietly.

((Oh my gosh. Oneesan, you're officially a mind-reader. Sheesh, that was really creepy o_o That's exactly how I had pictured the 'gym'!))

Ren chuckled. "I told you it was different." The spreading meadow's grass was worn out at one large circle that marked the fight arena. One of her fave places at Starlight. She grinned wickedly, re-tracing in her mind every battle move she had learned there inside that large circle. She remembered the times hen blood her own and others' - had tainted the golden sand in red. Red, painful red, angry crimson, scarlet rage. Her Gift had the color of blood. She turned around to face Hiko's eyes - they were silver as hers, but they had catlike vertical slits. "Perhaps" she looked at him. "you should change into some better clothes. You know, they'll get all messy and stuff. The changing cabins are over there." she pointed at two large wooden buildings, one for males and other for females. "They'll hand you some better clothing. Well, I'm going too. See ya later." she checked her iPod's clock. "Class starts in half an hour."

Hiko grimaced and said nothing. "These clothes will suffice." He said quietly. He walked out int he field and sat down on a large boulder that was red at the bottom. Old dried blood that refused to come off with the rain. He sat there, one leg hanging down with the other rested underneath his chin. He gazed off into the forest, but the eyes didn't reveal themselves again. He sighed and closed his eyes, letting the wind rustle over him. And suddenly, he just seemed to blend in with the scenery. He was perfectly still, having mastered his human animalistic mind and instincts. If you were to look, you would not see him. Only the endless scenery. This was another benefit of his skill. Total concealment.

Sevvy stood silently at her locker. She really didn't feel like going to class. She huffed softly, slammed her locker closed, and then turned on her heel, walking forward, step by step, as she continued to move down the hall. She sniffed the air -an animal instinct she had gained- and looked around curiously, her eyes alert and ears listening. She was human, yes, but she was not normal. She had....abilities that noone else had. She looked forward again, tucked back her hair, and then slid down the bleachers to the Gym floor where her next class was, her dress-out clothes tucked under her pits as she sat down on the bleachers, breathed in again, and then watched everyone as they hassled around.

She had already seemed to miss homeroom - and now she was due off to gym. The girl sighed, lifting her gym bag from her locker. Her long, straight legs bended furiously as she darted for the locker rooms, and upon ariving, it was clear she was late. She sighed. "Of course," she said, "First day, and already my year is in ruins."

She had dressed quickly, into some light denim short shorts and a black tank top. Throwing on a slightly large gray sweatshirt. The girl hopped into the gym, attempting to put on her shoe, her eyes burning with eagerness. She didn't know what she'd get as she entered.

~Haylee continued down the hall until she finally arrived at the gym. She stepped in and her jaw dropped. It was sooo huge to her. She couldn't believe how large it really was. She stepped back out of the gym and headed down to the girls locker room. She set her items down into one of the lockers and changed into some black short shorts and a grey tank top. She picked the snow back up in her hands and twirled it inbetween her finger tips. Haylee walked back out of the locker room and into the gym. She held the small amount of snow she had in her hands and looked around. She wondered what they would be doing today. Hopefully they would just be going over the rules, and wouldn't have to do any physical activies.
