I follow suit with the deputy, depositing all of my prey on the far side of the river in some reeds. When I return to Foxfur, on our territory once more, I let out a sigh of relief. "What now?" I ask, already my paws feeling heavy with exhaustion; and it'd barely past dawn! "Should we hunt for the clan? Otherwise they'll ask questions about why we were gone so long..." I trail off, not sure what else to say. We can't call it a patrol; since patrols need a minimum of three cats. And what other excuse is there?

Shinepaw:
"Thunderstar what do I do with Fernstorm? She looks sick, and i found her on the border."

Willow:
"Owwwwww!" She yowls in the medicine cat den

Lilly:
She is very content beside Shadekit's warm, fluffy fur

Foxfur:
Heaving an enormous sigh, I flop down onto my side, relishing the cool grass in the growing sunlight. "No." I growl, stubbornly, letting my wariness shine through in my voice, "We can hunt later... maybe we could sneak back into camp... no cat would notice..." My words are interrupted by a wide yawn, "And if someone does..." I can almost hear the loud questions and curious meows now, "Just tell them we wanted to spend some time alone together." I purr, looking at Shadepelt with a playful glimmer in my eye, "No cat would dare question that; not if they think it was some affectionate outing." I stand, my limbs crying out in protest, "Deal?" I ask, ready to head back to camp.

Shadepelt:

Feeling embarrassment course through my fur, I'm slow to respond, "Uh, yeah, ok." I finally manage, with a dry, croaking meow, "Deal." I shake out my pelt self-consciously, giving my chest fur a quick lick, then starting towards camp. She really wants to let other cats' imagination and gossip create our excuse? But I guess she's right about one thing; no cat will be bold enough to question the excuse. They'll all twitter and mew amongst themselves about how they saw it coming, how they all knew we'd end up together... But they're wrong. I feel a dreary weight leaden my paws before we're even halfway back.

((I don't think much has realy happened; Foxfur and Shadepelt are feeding Riverclan because their birds and fish have a strange illness that's killing all their prey off. But no one in the clan knows yet; they're about to return to camp.
Other than that, everyone's just chatting in camp...))
Foxfur:
I trot alongside Shadepelt, noting his obviously ruffled exterior. I hope he's not that embarrassed, it was the only explanation that came to mind, at least, the only one that would afford us some privacy and discretion. It was either tell the clan we like alone time, or tell them we're breaking the warrior code and keeping secrets from our leader. Lesser of two evils? Fake love. He'd better pull himself together - we're at camp. I walk in first, brushing my tail along his shoulder to remind him we must begin the act. Then I creep through the tunnel and into the camp.

Shinepaw:
As Foxfur enters she turns and says, "Thunderstar wont answer me but I dunno what to do with Fernstorm. I found her on the Shadowclan border and dragged her here. Shes half dead anyway."

[FireCalls]

Foxfur:
I'm only briefly thankful that the Shadowclan deputy being injured is a distraction from my long absence this morning. "What1?" I ask, feeling my relief turn to distress. Riverclan is starving to death and Shadowclan has injured cats on their borders. I run over, sniffing the deputy, I'd ask her what happened, but she's so weak I know she couldn't possibly speak. "We must get her to the medicine den; Jaymoon can try to put hre back together. Then we'll just have to wait and see." I say grimly, hoping that our skilled medicine cat has the patience and know-how to get Fernstorm through this alive. I grab the deputy by her scruff and start dragging her across the clearing, leaving Shadepelt and Shinepaw behind me.

Shinepaw:
"She just stinks of illness and uncured injury." Shinepaw follows Foxfur.

Sootedtail walked out of her den and stretched.
