Astral Journey, but he goes by Astral.
Astral means "of or relating to the stars", but it also means "involving a person's spirit rather than their body". Astral journey means "out of body experience". One of the best examples of astral trips is the movie(s) Insidious.

What is his talent?:
Previously, he was a simple Astronomer, nothing too fancy or abnormal. When his special little friend, he prefers to call him that, instead of 'demon', attached himself to him, he saw something different in the constellations. Astral can see the destiny of ponies in the way stars and planets are aligned. Some ponies consider this horoscopes, but it is not the same. Only twice has he been incorrect about a ponies future, one of them being his own.
Also, as his name suggests, he is able to project his, and his demon's, spirit, or 'being', out of their body. This only happens when they go into deep meditation, usually when they are asleep. There are, of course, terrible consequences of astral travel. Evil spirits can latch onto his spirit and 'hitch a ride' to this realm. Luckily, his own demon protects him from these other forms. Side effects are; frequent nightmares, occasional hallucinations, inability to concentrate, loss of train of thought, feeling like he is not really alive, and a few others. He was able to do this since he was a colt.

Favorite thing about the stars:
There are many things about the stars that he adores. He loves the fact that they are ever present, even in the day. Because of his powers, he can see them shining just as bright in the day as at night, and it's what keeps him sane. One may go out, but two will take its place. Life is always changing, the world always spinning, but the stars are there, shining just as bright as ever. It's a continuum that impresses him. They are things to be both feared and loved.
Astral also believes that some stars are portals between the realms. A shooting star is not always a comet, but something, or someone, visiting the pony world.

Personality
Astral is suave, but he loves to use insults and banter. While he prides himself on integrity, he will use any loopholes given to him to turn the situation to his benefit proving the saying 'be careful what you wish for' to be more than true. He is also skilled in deceiving unsuspecting victims by appearing charismatic and alluring.
Astral is also highly secretive, and does not trust anyone completely. He rarely makes himself vulnerable, hiding behind a facade of indifference or cheerfulness when he is upset. Nor does he enjoy talking about his past, preferring the mystery.
Astral's main goal is self-preservation, and he is willing to sacrifice anything else for it. In fact, he tends to only lose his temper when his personal safety is threatened or when dealing with what he considers overwhelming stupidity. He is not above making deals or alliances with his enemies when he feels it is beneficial for him. He is extremely opportunistic and his goal seems to be to expand the grasp of his power.

How He Met His Demon
"Goodnight, sweetie." The light gray mare with her salt and pepper mane pilled in a messy bun kissed her colt right under his messy mane. He shook his head, pushing her away.
"Mom!" He exclaimed, being at the age were being kissed by your mom was not cool. She laughed that crystal laugh, the one that made everypony around her fall in love instantly before exiting the small bedroom, closing the door just enough for a sliver of light to enter the room.
Astral flipped over in his bed and closed his eyes. It wasn't long before he was asleep and dreaming normal colt dreams. As he pranced around with his best friend, his Uncle Comet, waiting for his turn to look through the telescope to see a planet, he caught a glimpse of a bright red door. He stopped his playing, wondering why a door would be in the middle of the field.
The young colt crept up to the door. It looked like every normal door, if not a little weathered. With a quick glance at his uncle, he pushed open the door.
Mist rolled around his hooves, the ground under them completely black. Blacker than his father's coat. Curiosity welled inside his chest and he galloped further away from the door. He didn't stop until he heard a crazed laughing that made his coat stand straight up. His small wings flapped furiously in fear and he tripped over his hooves trying to turn back towards the small red dot.
Astral did not return to that land until the night Uncle Comet died. He had been climbing up one of the highest mountains in Equestria to see the rare comet for which he had been named after fly by. There was an avalanche and he was caught in it. Astral was sixteen at the time.
That night, the door returned to him.
"Come to me," Something whispered to him, soft as the wind. And he went towards it.
The world had not changed since his last visit, years ago, only he had changed. It was no longer mysterious and full of wonder, but he felt an eerie chill in the air and saw figures moving through the fog.
"Ah!" He yelped in surprise as a disfigured pony leaped up in front of him. "Come," it rasped. Against his better judgement, Astral followed the pony.
It what seemed like seconds, they were in a great hall of a castle. In front of him, a fire red Alicorn stood with her head high.
"Here is here, Demon." As her voice rang through the hall, a crescent shape floated out from the of the doors. The Alicorn spoke words Astral didn't understand, but he nodded at the end, having felt she had asked him a question.
There was no pain, not even a tingle, when the Demon past into him. Astral woke with a gasp, the sheets on his bed halfway across his room.
"Be still, every thing has worked out." The raspy voice spoke inside his mind. With wide eyes, Astral Journey turned his head to the left. The crescent demon floated next to him, tangled in spoke like substance the same color as Astral's tail.
