Yeah, I know what you mean. Because communication depends on tone of voice and body language, too, which can't really be shown on the internet. But smileys help. Sometimes smileys help get the point across a little easier.

Hmm, I agree. Around 90% of our communication is body languge. You could say something that meant well, but it miight sound really rude to another person. I try to be careful with what I say because often it can be taken to offence.

Also, people think a "Mod Job" is very glamourous (Customs, Privalages). But you also have

. Rulebreakers
. Arguments between members
. People who are very rude to you

and stuff like that.....For some reason, I know all that. And if I do become a mod (probably not....I'll probably get classed as too young), I'll invest in Stress balls.

And as for the last one, let's say it's all the time.

I can imagin, poor mods o.o You're like the parking ticket cops (I'm too tired to think of the proper name XD) people are rude because you do your job.
It really annoys me when people try to break the rules and get all mad at the mods about it, saying they didn't, or they didn't know, or the rule is unfair, the list goes on. The most common example I can think of is the beggin posts in the free adoption forum.
Even though it's clearly stated what begging is considered, and not to do it, people always post topics asking for unwanted pets, and when users state, usually politely, that it's considered begging and against the rules, they get all defensive, about how they clearly weren't begging, etc, etc -_-
And yes, the 'clans' groups annoy me too XD it's so hard for trading :(

Being a Mod is very tough. I know because I was one. I hate the pettiness of some people. I lost my job just because I told a girl to uh...(PG 13 Li), get lost. She wouldn't shut up. I wasn't in a good mood that day anyway. And I couldn't be bothered about doing something.

I lost my mod/Artist job to her, A power abuser, selfish, rulebreaking little girl. And they think I'm thick. No way, I tracked down their new chat, easy peasy. And the blacklist was so petty. "Li, for being a meanie". And when the owner stole art from an artist, they tried to put the blame on me. I didn't even colour it.

*sigh* Oh well, I've made a new, decent forum, which brings everything together. Now I just need a few mods and members. And it even is the same forum layout as Tess (I knows how you guys do it).

Sorry for the long rant. :D

I've been a mod in a couple of sites too, and a co admin in an awesome one, we were like family, but I just had to leave after a while for personal reasons... anyways, I think people are too hard on the mods...

I agree mods don't get anywhere near the respect they deserve for being able to take on such a thankless job, and it drives me crazy when people blatantly ignore rules and then get angry at the mods for locking their posts. I have a high tolerance for most things - the same questions being asked over and over again, the begging posts that always come up, various rule-breaking things, etc - but one thing I cannot stand is rude or insolent rulebreakers who flame mods (or anyone else for that matter) for calling them out on transgressions and act like they have perfect right to break any rules they please and no one has any right to object. I've been known to verbally savage such people when I'm in a bad mood, which is a big reason why I'm one of the few people on CS who didn't apply to be a mod! I really don't take rude people well, and unfortunately the mods get to see an awful lot of them. I'm pretty sure most people who applied had no clue what sort of abuse they were eagerly trying to let themselves in for.

We should have a Mod Appreciation Day or something to thank the mods for the great job they do keeping the forums clean, safe and tidy for everyone to enjoy. ^^

-smirks- If that was all you did I think you were showing a lot of self-restraint. Thank god I'm not a moderator, otherwise Tess would be recieving a lot of complaints ^^;;

Heh. Wait till you get to work in customer service.

It astounds me the number of people who are rude to me and mine. What's even more astonishing is, they still expect great service even thuogh they're being a jerk to us. Sad thing is, the higher ups let them have it too.

He he, I did. ^.^

It's really hard sometimes...
And it is more difficult as the mod job. The person stands right to you in the store and you have to be nice and polite and such...
Here you can breath one or two times, think a little bit about it, also swear if you want, and then answer. XD

Yeah, people coming all day. At the cash register, the same thing every minute. It must be horrible.
