Evrex was still young when it happened, the raid, I mean. It was devastating. Not only for the alliance itself, but for the surrounding alliances, too. Evrex and Tinaph held the only alliance west of the Rockies. Together, the two packs battled away many unwanted enemies: bears, cougars, even the humans. The duo seemed nearly inseparable. They went everywhere together, usually being gone for hours; however, the only thing that drew them back home was the sun's setting and the corrupting howls of the members and families. They would walk together, Evrex and Tinaph, all the way to the lone pine. It was that lone pine that separated the two pack's territories, keeping two friends distantly apart. For the longest time, Tinaph would sit under that tree and watch Evrex walk off, back to her life they both knew she had to live.
Evrex was the only pup of the two alpha wolves. She had many
privileges, although she rarely would take part in any of them.
Evrex was unwieldy, despite her mother's best attempt to make her
lady-like. Her mother, Deskari, would often find Evrex alone
by the pine. Every time Deskari would find her there, she would
remind Evrex of just how dangerous it was, being that
close to another pack's territory, scolded her lightly, and sent
her back home. Despite these efforts, too, Evrex would
always return, something pulling her back there.

Tinaph, on the other hand, was more of a free spirit. He
also had more leverage when it came to the subject
of wandering. His parents, both hunters, didn't mind
too much when one of their five sons took to the
wind for the evening. It was during one of these
evenings, when Evrex also decided that home was
getting a little too home-y, that the two first met.
She was curled up under the pine, her eyes locked
on the purples and pinks of the sunset. Like any young
male, Tinaph happily bounced into the scene,
energetically asking her name.

Ever since, the two have been friendly, and visiting each other the way they
had when they first met: unexpectedly. Things grew with time, like anything will, and the two
made it clear they were not interested in anyone else. Evrex spoke to her parents, who were very
irritable about the whole thing, and Tinaph spoke to his alpha, whom he was close
friends with. Needless to say, everything worked out just fine, and an alliance was set
up between the two groups.

Evrex was, at the time, about a year old. Tinaph was three.
When Evrex's father died in that year, Deskari decided she
couldn't do her job any longer. It was up to Evrex to take the lead.
It was harder than she imagined, and Tinaph helped when
he could. Her new responsibilities took time away from
the time her and Tinaph had shared...

Thinking Evrex was done with him, and simply ignoring him,
Tinaph grew bitter. Instead of his usual happy self, Tinaph
now spent a lot of time alone. Since the alpha had no
mate or pups, Tinaph was the decided rank beholder.
Needless to say, this was a bad choice, and things
got ugly, quick...

Which takes us to the raid. Tinaph and Evrex hadn't spoken in weeks. Things
were falling apart between the alliance. When Evrex tried to communicate with Tinaph,
she was only sent off by the guards because Tinaph was 'too busy.'
In all reality, Tinaph had given up. Tinaph spent many more hours alone, usually
in his den, without telling anyone where he was going and for how long
he planned to stay. Evrex, being herself, tried to talk to him multiple times; the alliance
was the only great thing that had happened to her group in a while, and she
wouldn't let it fall apart.
