If you're planning on trading the pass for equus, baby unicorns can sometimes sell for more than what trading in passes gives you. It depends on the breed and its skills.
Also, have you tried selling back items? I usually can make a bit off of selling the droppings that have been building up.

At present you also make 20e for voting on the latest creations in the creation space and you can vote 50 times a day: it's a great money maker between the 6th and 14th of each month.
