The pack had been raving about it for days, Cinna’s pups finally ready to take on their first hunt. The excitement was finally getting to you on the night before they departed for the hunt. You and your siblings had spent all last week in preparation for this day; running for stamina, practicing your hunting strategies, getting hints and tips from the pack. Finally Ru had decided that we were ready. The five of us had been settled into a room by ourselves so we can depart whenever we wake up in the morning without disturbing others. You could hear your brothers whispering for a while before Finnick’s voice echoed off the walls. “But that would hardly be fair.” Atala shot him a glare before scanning the room. It was clear that it had caught the attention of Kodiak, you, and Sonu. You glanced towards the other two, Kodiak looked like he was going to let it go, but as you and Sonu exchanged glances, her head dipped slight, “What wouldn’t be fair?” Sonu asked for you.
Your gaze darted between Atala and Finnick as they quietly decided what to tell Sonu. Finally Atala gave her a mischievous grin, one that had gotten the five of you in trouble many times before in your puppy hood. “What if we made the hunt into a competition?”
The thought caught your attention. A competition? How would they do that? “What were you thinking?” You asked, standing and moving over to the boys. Finnick and Atala gave you grins and slowly Kodiak followed your lead, moving closer and between you and Finnick.
Atala seemed thrilled that you had taken his bait into listening to the idea. “We would split into teams and try to catch the most prey. Whoever can catch the biggest or most wins.”
Kodiak seemed unamused, his ears lowering and looking at his brother, it was becoming more obvious as you all grew up that the two didn’t exactly meet eye to eye. But it was surely a familial thing right? “You shouldn’t be changing rules.” He murmured, glaring down at his paws.
“Forget that. How will we choose the groups? I mean, if you haven’t noticed. We’re odd numbered.” That was Finnick, but even his discouraging wasn’t getting you away from the thought. “Having a partner would help us hunt larger animals.. We could even go after Tapar.” You brainstormed out loud.
“Boys against Girls?” Sonu suggested, it looked like she had finally decided to join the four of you, as she walked over to sit next to you and Atala. The five of you now made a loose circle, bouncing ideas off one another.
Finally it was hashed out. Your group were going to work with Boys against Girls. You and Sonu were used to working together anyways. The boys however, weren’t. So while they would have the advantage of numbers and size, you and Sonu would have be able work better without arguing. Not to mention that the two of you could balance on the others good points. You were fast and smart, but small. She was stronger and braver, but a little clumsy. Either way it would all work out, and you hoped, in your favors.
You blinked a few times before yawning, surprised by the sudden drowsiness that seemed to overtake you. Your older siblings look down with a grin. “Alright. Lets get some sleep” Atala announced. The circle broke quickly, each of you all moving to spots within the little den to sleep.
__________
The next day it was tough to get up. You could tell the others felt it as well. The excitement of yesterday had turned to nervousness in your stomach, and exhaustion haunting your mind. But the feeling was slowly going away.
The five of you had agreed to wait for everyone to make the competition fair, so as you all walked into the forest, the groups slowly broke away from each other. Sonu gave you a grin before darting forward, leaving you to play catch up as the two of you raced away to claim a hunting spot away from the boys. When she decided that the two of you had gotten away from the boys, she finally slowed to a slow walk.
The two of you both had the same ideas, lifting your muzzles to the wind and taking in scents. It didn’t take long before a faint scent of Tapar crossed your muzzle, although when you pointed it out, Sonu didn’t want to start out with that. “Lets warm up with something smaller” Was her excuse. You had stopped to stretch and walk a little, just looking around when she made an excited yip. “The wind changed! Theres a few prey a few yards ahead!” You were just thankful that she had kept her voice low, a grin working onto your face. “Alright, lets split up, like in training!”
A few wolves in the pack had taught you and your siblings a neat trick with the smaller speedy prey. Splitting up and flanking the prey made it panic, making it easier to catch, or if you were lucky, the prey wouldn’t smell one of the two of you and would run straight into the other wolfs jaws.
It took a few moments for the two of you to find the little critter and catch it. The little thing hadn’t even noticed you as you snuck up on it, its focus only on Sonu as she stalked around it in. But you had taken one wrong step and the little thing went running. And at that point, you were too invested in the critter to let it go that easily. You darted after it, chasing it for a few minutes before getting close enough to catch it by the tail and kill it.
__________
After a full day of hunting, you were starting to feel tired again. You were just glad that this would be your last trip back to the hunters den with prey. You and Sonu had brought in a nice haul of prey, and from the other piles gathering in the corners, your brothers were doing well themselves. You were just glad that the prey had been out in full today. How embarrassing would it be for the alpha pups to hardly catch anything? You frowned at the idea, Cinna and Ru would be disappointed in all of you.
However that wasn’t the case, the Tapar being dragged by you and Sonu showed just how good of hunters that you could be.
The pack was there waiting for you when the two groups returned. The boys each had a small critter hanging from their jaws. Finnick kept shooting glances at the tapar that you held. All of you had brought back plenty, as it turned out. Working together had upped the number of prey that you were able to catch.
The pack accepted the five of you back excitedly, accepting you as adults that could become an actual part of the pack as their subleaders.

.:Fishing:.Story Info~
Age~ 3-5 months
Those involved~ Sonu and Prim
Weather~ somewhat cloudy but calm
Location~ small hidden clearing
Prim felt a soft nibbling on her ear when she woke up. she rolled over and looked up at her bigger sisters eyes. they were like her fathers, yellow, one eye partially blue. Prims', she knew, was yellow, like the flower she was named after. she smiled up at her sister what now? she thought. she looked around, their other siblings asleep. she stood up and followed Sonu outside. "what crazy idea do you have now?" she joked. it was normally Prim was usually the one who turned a small walk into an adventure. Sonu smiled "Lets go on another walk" she smiled. Prim knew were they were going once they set off. it wasn't far from their home, Sonu and Prim had once stumbled upon a small clearing with a pond and plenty of space to play. they often wrestled around there, it was their 'girl place' because they were the only girls of the litter. Once they got there Sonu ran up to the water. "I want to test our skills" she said sticking her chest out. "i want to be a great protector one day!" she paused before adding "with a mate and pups" Prim smiled. "How are we gunna do that?" she said and peered into their reflections in the water. "Were going to catch fish" she said as sly grin spread crossed her face. Prim splashed her paw in the water "How are we going to do that? we haven't learned to catch fish yet... let alone be quiet enough to do that." "first things first, don't disturb the water, you'll chase all the fish away!" she slowly waded into the water doing her best not to make the water ripple too much. Prim followed trying not to kick up to much mud from under her feet. they stood there for a while. her fir slowly swayed in the water. Prim found at the fact that the bright purple on her paws stood out like a sour thumb. she looked at sounu, she had no bright colors under the water, other than her paw pads that were hidden under the mud. she wondered if she should have smeared mud on her paws, but it would have washed off in the water anyways. she stared into the water for a long time it seemed.she soon became bored and almost turned to walk out when Sonu stopped her "Look!" she whispered. sure enough, three plump fish were slowly swimming between their feet. Sonu had her eyes locked on one. her movements were so smooth and precise, she caught the fish perfectly, the other two went Prims way, and not knowing what to do, she pounced. she felt something squirmy under her paws, she caught one! She looked at Sonu who had the dead fish in her mouth. she lifted her paw up and bent down to puck up the fish, but she was too slow and it shot away from her paws. she frowned. "Should of been faster." she mumbled. "and catch it with your mouth" Sonu added. Prim Smiled. "That would have helped before" she said.
.:Brothers and Mothers:.Story Info~
Age~ 4-5 months
Those involved~ Sonu, Prim, Atala, Finnick, and Kodiak along with their parents Ru and Cinna
Weather~ thunder storm
Location~ the Den
Sonu Tripped over Prim, startling her awake. she jumped to her feet just to be tackled by her bigger brother Finnick. she laughed out loud. she tried to shove him off of her, but being weaker, she struggled. behind him her two other brothers, Atala and Kodiak, came running up and doggie piled on top of each other, Prim at the bottom. "Sonu!" she called for help laughing. her brothers were all a tangled mess on top of her. Sonu came back laughing "Sorry about that!" she said laughing and pulled her out. the other three toppled down away from each other and continued to wrestle. she looked outside hoping to see the sky so Sonu and Prim could go play together, she found the boys way too rough and it was hard to learn how to protect herself from them when she couldn't get into a position to protect herself. she frowned upon the sight of a storm, white pebbles falling down with the rain... Hail she thinks she heard her mother call it once. she turned back and walked toward her sister, "Sonu, come with me" she sneaked deeper into a darker part of the den. "lets sneak attack them" she grinned and nodded towards their brothers. Sonu smiled and replied "i have an idea." the spoke together for a while, their brothers becoming curious were they went and what they were up to. Prim jumped out from no-wear it seamed and shouted "catch me if you can!" wagging her tail a mile a minuet. Atala was the first to react, she shouted and ran after her. Finnick followed and then Kodiak, the shyer one. Prim ran to the back of the room, jumping high onto the wall, scrambling into a crack towards the roof of the cave. being the smallest of the litter, her brothers couldn't follow her in. Sonu ran up behind them, a tree vine in her mouth. the boys turned, just as a tangle of more vines fell on top of them. Prim jumped down and they started laughing together, the boys were struggling in the tangled weeds.
~Later~
i scooted closer to my mother. the storm outside raging even worse from when they were playing. "mama?" she said in a soft voice. another set of thunder shook her to alertness. the noise of the storm frightened her. "Yes little one?" she replied softly. "I'm scared of the thunder" she jumped and shoved her nose into her mothers fur as another blast blew through the den. she looked at her siblings and father, and wondered how they managed to fall asleep, their chests slowly rising and falling. "Don't be" she paused liking her on the top of her head. "A storm is a good thing" she said ever so calmly. "Why is it so good, if its so scarey?" her mother paused and looked outside. "Well, because a storm like this means rain. and what is rain little one?" "its water" she replied softly. "Thats right, and all living things need water. it fills the rivers, that lead through the land. thats were we get our water, and the other animals that we need to hunt to eat." Prim looked down again and went quiet. then she asked "But what about the trees that fall" her mother simply smiled "Then let more trees grow" the storm outside finally started to calm. it was no longer hailing and the thunder was further away. she yawned and finally drifted to sleep...
