Congrats on the new charries!
I personally llike the first designs blond streaks as opposed to white, mainly because in my mind I feel that white is done kind of more often then blond.
The second one is just so awesomeness...seriously.

Depends on the program you're using really. I'd use more of a simple shading technique if I was you, just because of the device you're on (for not being on a tablet I think it looks great!) Such as take a darker color in say...a 3pxl size and trace the undersides of the outlines.
