Name: I'd call this antlered beauty Torah {which means 'bright'} but she would be called Tori for short. I think that name really suits her coloration.
Gender: I don't see this as anything other than female; also, Torah sounds (to me) more feminine.
Short Story/Poem: {300 words max) The dawn was just rising over the horizon, the first weak rays of sunlight striping the wooden floor of the stable. The air was cold, as snow lay thick upon the outside fields, and the breath of many sleeping forms steamed in the air.
An old reindeer, with a silver-grizzled muzzle and dopey, half-closed eyes slowly lifted his head and blinked slowly around him. He gave a deep sigh, and struggled with aching joints to stand up.
Not much longer... give it a few moments...
"Hellohellohello! Wakeupeveryoneit'smorning! Hurry up, hurry up, the sun is shining and you're all asleep!"
There it was, the old reindeer thought knowingly to himself, watching as startled, half-asleep reindeers jerked awake at the sudden awakening. Chuckling softly to himself, the male waited the next stage of the routine. It came, as it always did, with a loud banging. "Uncle Grizz, Uncle Grizz, are you awake?"
Grizz turned his head slowly to see slight glimpses of his excitable cousin, as she leapt into the air in the adjoining stall to his own, trying to see through the tiny gap. It was too tall for her, so she had to jump.
"Oh, Tori," the reindeer sighed in his deep voice. "What are we going to do with you?"
"Take me outside?" the little female begged. "Please?"
Grizz rolled his eyes. This happened every morning. "Okay, okay! Calm down. We're not all as awake as you are!"
With slow steps, the old reindeer moved round to Torah's stall and nosed open her lock. The little girl bounced out, shivering in excitement. She rubbed her neck under his affectionately; then Grizz watched as she raced out of the stable, kicking up snow, rolling and laughing. The old reindeer knew he wouldn't want his hyperactive cousin any other way.
