How do you come up with your characters personalities? Do you pick one trait and go from there?
With the vast majority of my characters, their personalities come to me. Like if I see an adopt, I won"t even try out for it if some trait or part of their backstory doesn't jump out to me. A lot of times it just happens so naturally. They speak to me about their whole story and all I have to do is write it down and know the right questions to ask when we hit a wall together to get us back going again.

However there are exceptions. Sometimes I'll love a design and not have a personality in mind. If a personality doesnt come to me in a while I usually give them away, but sometimes asking myself questions is the best way to get started. Such as "oh, this character looks like a gargoyle! Why? What is the connection to gargoyles?" Those kind of questions help form the character.

What do you do when you love a character; but can't think of a personality you haven't already used?

Honestly if the only personality that comes to mind is similar to one you already used, just use it! People in real life have similar personalities, and if you think that's the right thing for your character then no one will tell you otherwise.

Is there any personality trait you avoid giving your characters?

I think evil like demonic/monstrous characters are SO OVERDONE so I really avoid that unless the character is telling me it reallly has those qualities.

they represent everything in me!!
their personalities, some parts of their histories, how they react, likes, dislikes, how other people usually see them, their beliefs... and the list goes on!

i like to pick a bunch of traits that you don't usually see together and then write from there ovo <3

i am looking for someone who could design me a haikyuu!! fan character. i already have some ideas but i can't draw humans... btw this characters is a human male.

If you have one, how does your fursona represent you?
Sebeon represents me well, I would say. Everything about her I could point out, and, for those who know me, it'd lead to me.
This also includes her long tail for balance and halo, but I won't say what the halo represents.

How do you come up with your characters personalities? Do you pick one trait and go from there?
I mainly go from the name they are given if the name holds any meaning. If not, I pick a trait that I feel goes best with how the character looks. (If they have scars, I will make them less social or more tougher. I just sort of do.)

I like to put a little twist, and characters can be individual snowflakes if you toss up some of the traits a bit.
Two characters can be depressing, but one could take it better than the other due to their different traits.

Hold onto them for next brainstorming session. I like to mix and match a variety of personalities so that they appear more unique.

Depressing or anti-social personalities, since honestly they can come off as jerks way too easily in RP. It's a lot easier to make the social ones likable to others. Besides, there's always room for making even a social character twisted on the inside. Haha.

Ambrosia and Delphinia are demon twins.

Either that or the design usually inspires a basic concept for me. From there I just flesh it out~

I'd research different quirks and personality types ;v;
I don't think this matters too much though! A lot of people have the same basic personality.
It's how they react differently to certain situations that really shapes them as an individual character <3

hahAHA probably a goofy or class-clown type of trait. I really should get a character to place that persona on though~
I'm typically a rather serious person, so I think I avoid "fun" personalities without meaning to x'D
