The buzzing of his phone with a small ding signified he had gotten a text and fumbled with frozen fingers to get the flip phone out of his pocket. He cussed as he almost dropped his cigarette and finally got the blackberry device out to reply. ' life is fine. cold, but fine. i hope you remembered to wear a hat and mittens, you'll freeze into a Marley-cicle!' Quinn sent the text before extinguishing the end of the cigarette and going inside the school, immediatly getting looks.

Quinn was well known ( not in a good way, either )throughout the school for his punk-rock appearance. He wore eyeliner and fingerless skeleton gloves constantly, fingernails always painted black. His snake bites and nose ring only added to the look, as well as his clothing style. He did wear a few necklaces, a ring as well on his right middle finger. Quinn had a few tattoos, but nobody ever saw them under his clothing. The only one visible was the word 'dragonfly' on the side of his index finger.

I laughed, looking at his text. "Yes I did!" I put it away and walked into school, stomping my feet. I shivered from the cold, but smiled. I fought over to my locker and opened it. "hey look, there's the freak!" I hear someone say and turn around and see Quinn, in the doorway, getting various looks from people. I wince, and make my way over. "He's not a freak. Maybe if you treated him better, he wouldn't stand out as much." I shot an annoyed look at everyone, then looked at Quinn, and whispered, "Sorry I wasn't here earlier." Nobody responded, so I shrugged and turned to Quinn and smiled. "So, any plans for later?"

When Raymond was little, around four or five, his dad died in the army. Naturally, him and his mom were devastated, and his mother became very abusive. She always blamed him for his fathers death. He didn't understand why she was mad at the time, because he was very little. His mom would beat him all the time, even cut him with kitchen knives sometimes. He had a hard time at school, too. When he was in 8th grade, he fell off the bleachers at school and broke his collarbone. His mom didn't even care and didn't even go to the hospital to see him. Then when he got back to school from the hospital, kids just made fun of him. His history is part of the reason of why his personality is so bad. He thinks that if he acts bigger and meaner, no one will make fun of him and push him around. So he tries to intimidate people, and most of the time, it works. Anyway, when he got home that day, his mom cut his cheek with a knife. Now he has a scar on his face, starting at his left cheek, and ending at his jaw line.

It wasn't hard to spot Marley through the crowd of people, and as she she came to speak to him he gave a small dazzling smile before it dissapeared. He had terrible anxiety. Quinn was very self concious, and did try his best without changing who he was to get people to stop picking at him. He put his hands in his pockets to warm them up. "Um..no I don't think so. Who would I have plans with? You're the only person I actually hang out with." He spoke in a soft voice, not wanting to bring negative attention to her. Marley was a queen in his eyes and deserved everyone to love her. They wouldn't think of her dating him as a good thing, and she would be drug down to his level on the social pyramid. She didn't deserve the ridicule.

I nod. "Same, I was wondering if maybe you wanted to see a movie with me?" I ask, smiling at Quinn. He really did have a great smile. That was one of the many things I loved about him. I had to run back to my locker, but then came back to him. "I have to go, see you later!" I wave and go to my first class.
